  • RTR: The Church Artisans - Ministry or Entertainment?

    in Christianity

There are a lot of different ministries in church today. Mimes, flags, step teams, praise dancers, praise and worship teams, poets, rappers, comedians, drama teams and more. With all of these different ministries going on in church, the question must be asked, are these really ministries or church entertainment? Another question that must be asked is what exactly is ministry? Is it subjective, or is it something concrete? We're not saying that anything is wrong with these things, but can these things be considered ministry, or are they simply entertainment for the church masses? Is it bringing the world into the church, or do they bring glory to God? Join in on the conversation with RTR, this and every Sunday at 10am est. Call 661.449.9951 to listen live!

Sunday Morning Divine Service - Lamb of God Lutheran Church Papillion NE

    in Christianity

9 am Sunday morning Divine Service for 12/21/14. Traditional liturgy and law gospel sermon. Pastor Housers’s sermon. First reading - 2 Samuel 7: 1-11, 16. Gospel - Luke 1:26-38. King David thinks he defeats Israel’s enemies and decides to build God a house - like his palace. However the reason Israel defeated their enemies was the hand of God. God did it for them so David wanted to do something for God. Works righteousness, idolatry, foolishness and vanity. (God didn’t ask David to build him a fancy temple.)

In the gospel, God dwells in Mary’s womb so He can take His place amongst us. It’s just Mary - nothing fancy. However the Lord favored her. The gospel is God doing the work for us - not the other way around. Jesus defeats the real enemies; satan, the world and our sinful human nature. He brings about our salvation and victory over sin.

Should the Church Take a Stance or a Vow of Silence?

    in Spirituality

In regard to the racial tensions and issues, some complain they haven't heard enough from the church while many in the church feel they should have no dealings with so-called worldly affairs. We will really be hitting some touchy subjects.

So there are many blacks in the church, however, who aren't timid amongst other sheep nor wolves. Joining us this episode to bring some perspective to our Taboo Talks convo is Lavoisier Cornerstone from Rapperturnedhacker.com. He's an amazing dad, an educator, rapper and trailblazer! He's a gem to the kingdom and his neighborhood and understands the importance of balancing life within ministry and the pursuit of all God has for us in all areas. You DO NOT want to miss hearing from this man!

If you'd like to call in then feel free to do so to listen in or make your comments. So tune in for some perspective, fun and love...and share! 10pm cst Sunday nights!

  • SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ~ "Teaching Gifts & Church Hierarchy"

    in Religion

In the 22nd chapter of the book of Luke, after listening to His disciples debate status amongst themselves, Jesus provided the following correction:

"The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called `benefactors.' But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the least, and he who governs as he who serves. For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves." (verses 25-27)

In the world's system, a hierarchy is defined as "a privilege of organization in which people or groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority." The proverbial pyramid structure with the "greatest" at the apex.

According to our Lord and Savior in the passage provided above hierarchy is defined as "a responsibility within the organism that the Body of Christ is in which people or groups are gifted and/or selected to serve others, supporting their development and growth according in submission to scriptural authority. The inverted pyramid. Despite the clear cautionary command of our Lord, many throughout the century have adapted the hierarchical structure of the world to the church, leading to rampant abuse of authority and misinterpretation of God's Word. As many have begun to wake up to this distortion in revolution, some have even gone as far as to challenge the very existence of any hierarchical in the church ever. Does the Word of God teach such a thing? And if it did once, is such a thing even viable today?  Join me as I expound on What God's Word says concerning Hierarchy in Church Leadership. You can participate live through the online chat room, or by calling (646)652-2905.
