Join the Young Media Critics...voices of the future as they continue to learn the Language of Persuasion, Part 2. Learning the language of persuasion is an important media literacy skill. Once you know how media messages try to persuade you to believe or do something, you’ll be better able to make your own decisions.
Advertising is the easiest starting point: most ads are relatively simple in structure, easily available, and in their original format. Media literacy beginners are encouraged to learn the language of persuasion by examining ads. Keep in mind that many media messages, such as television commercials, use several techniques simultaneously. Others selectively employ one or two.
The Young Media Critics will share the next group of techniques classified as intermediate: The Big Lie, Charisma, Euphemism, Flattery, Name Calling, Slippery Slope just to name a few.
Tune in Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 5 pm. (EST) and catch up on The Language of Persuasion!
Wednesday, July 23, 3 pm ET, The Halli Casser-Jayne Show airs a 90 minute special INSIDE THE IVORY TRADE: IS IT TOO LATE TO SAVE THE ELEPHANT? Joining in the conversation are some of the top voices of the subject: Iain Douglas-Hamilton, Grace Ge Gabriel, Andrea Turkalo, Dr. Ron Orenstein,
In 1993, Iain Douglas-Hamilton founded the organization Save the Elephants. A zoologist, he is the recipient of the 2010 Indianapolis Prize for his work on elephant conservation. His chief research interest is to understand elephant choices by studying their movements. He is a frequent keynote speaker at the annual Wildlife Conservation Network expo.
Dr. Ron Orenstein is the author of Ivory, Horn and Blood: Behind the Elephant and Rhinoceros Poaching Crisis. Since 1987, Dr. Orenstein has been an observer at meetings of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). He was one of the engineers of the compromise amendment that led to an international ivory ban.
Field biologist Andrea Turkalo of The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has been called “The Elephant Whisperer.” She is the world's leading expert on forest elephants, working tirelessly to map the sometimes inaudible, language of elephants, in an effort to put to together the world's first elephant dictionary.
A native of China, Grace Ge Gabriel is a driving force behind the International Fund for Animal Welfare China (IFAW) and has worked tirelessly to alleviate human-elephant conflicts and raise conservation awareness in the country that stands at the heart of the “blood ivory” illicit trade.
An important conversation you won’t want to miss “Blood Ivory and the Fate of the World’s Elephants” on The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Wednesday, July 23, 3 pm ET. Tune in live online at Halli Casser-Jayne dot com.

BARRIERS (Blocks, Challenges, Obstacles)
What barriers can keep us from God and others?
BIBLE READING: Matthew 8:5-13
KEY BIBLE VERSE: When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.” (Matthew 8:10, niv)
Life is full of natural and artificial barriers. The centurion could have let many obstacles stand between him and Jesus—pride, doubt, money, language, distance, time, self-sufficiency, power, race. But he didn’t. If he did not let these barriers block his approach to Jesus, we don’t need to either. What keeps you from Christ?

The Language of Revelation: Classical Arabic Language Instruction and Exercises with Qur’aan CommentaryFor Beginners & Non-Beginners By Siddeeq Jihad
I want to bring to our attention an achievement, a publication that has been produced mainly for our community but is for anybody who wants some help from the material that has been put into this publication. The book is called The Language of Revelation. (Lughatut-tan-zeel) It is by a brother that I have known to be dedicated and devoted to the study of Qur’aanic Arabic and the teaching of that subject to our students and to grown-ups as well. And that is brother Siddeeq Jihad. I think that most of us know him.
Brother Siddeeq Jihad would you please stand and face the audience... I would highly recommend this book for you all, who are studying (grown-ups) but also for our youngsters who are studying in separate organized Qur’aanic Studies classes and who are also studying in our school system. Clara Muhammad School System like the one in Atl., Wash. D.C., Chi. & many other places. I highly recommend this book, The Language of Revelation. Qur’aanic Arabic with lessons and studies to improve your ability to read the Qur’aan and get more understanding and to qualify yourself, In-shaa Allah to be a teacher one day. Because out of you, from you who are interested in Qur’aanic Arabic, we’re going to get our next generation of teachers, Imams and leaders. So Allah be with you all and bless you to benefit from these wonderful projects and publications that our community is producing. This is one, we have others that I’ve seen and I’m grateful to Allah for students and scholars like our brother, Siddeeq Jihad. Congratulations, my brother! 7-6-08 www.siddeeqjihad.com email@example.com
