The Frat House Sports Show #232

    in Sports

Remember us lamenting on last week’s Frat House Sports Show about football being over . . . well, get ready RIGHT AWAY for spring football THIS year with the new MLFB!

But first, our Frat House Sports’ Speedweeks Week #2 continues as we lead up to the “Great American Race” Daytona 500. Joining us live is Vince Welch of NASCAR of FOX to chat about the storylines going into the first race of 2016: rookie Chase Elliott; Tony Stewart’s absence; the announced “charter system”; and, the new look on-the-ground of “Daytona Rising.”

But, then it’s back to football – spring-time football – THIS year with the brand new MLFB as we’re joined by Nick Athan, Vice-President of Media Relations for the brand new league that has been holding drafts of prospective players and free agent signings for eight teams scheduled to begin playing across the country in just a few weeks.

One of those drafted was (you might remember) Donte Rumph (Frat House Sports Show #194, May 28, 2015) #13 overall who had tried out for the Atlanta Falcons and then later lived in a tent outside the Falcons campus. We’ll be talking to Donte LIVE as well about what he’s been through this past year and this new opportunity he is being provided via the MLFB.

Matt DiBiase joins us as well to touch on the NHL coaching changes, trades, and player suspensions as the playoffs loom and just about 25 games remaining in the season.

THIS is one wild program you DO NOT want to miss and MUST be listening to LIVE at 7 p.m. ET . . . and, taking your calls: 347 – 826 – 9964.

    Calvin Johnson chess match

    in Sports

Mind of Mansion Ep 203: Matt Kelley @fantasy_mansion doubts that Calvin Johnson will retire.

Calvin Johnson's wife is the last person that wants him to retire.

Golden Tate would absolutely be a fantasy WR1 if Calvin Johnson retires.

Why Carson Palmer's finger inhibited him in the NFL playoffs.

    Lamenting CBS's NFL broadcast.

    Tevin Coleman cold shower

    in Sports

Mind of Mansion Ep 197: Matt Kelley @fantasy_mansion breaks down the slippery aspects of a shower.

Lamenting Tevin Coleman's lost season puctuated in the most apropos way possible.

Kirk Cousins was efficient with his eyes at home in week 15.

Endorsing #TeamBenchYourRoster while also thwarting it.

Predicting Dwayne Harris and Will Tye to fill the OBJ target void.

James White and Bilal Powell are secondary backs that are well-positioned to produce fantasy RB1 numbers in week 16.

Doug Baldwin and Brandin Cooks are small receivers commanding targets from efficient quarterbacks in high volume offenses.

Will Tye and Ben Watson make up for low brand equity with high target shares.

Shiloh Musik, singer and songwriter for Baltimore-based band Fathom, has invented a genre he calls "RomantiCore." Shiloh is influenced by rock icons such as HIM, The Rasmus, and MUSE, as well as classical composers Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach. Fathom’s sound includes heavy guitars, haunting piano, and rocking grooves, with a good share of double kick. On top of that, add Shiloh’s heartfelt, often lamenting, vocals with an occasional scream, and you have the perfect mix of romantic and hardcore… RomantiCore.

    Killing Team Big Receiver

    in Sports

Mind of Mansion Podcast Episode 175: Matt Kelley @fantasy_mansion explains how Brandon Coleman became the most overrated wide receiver in fantasy for a brief period.

Zach Zenner will never usurp Ameer Abullah.

Buy Lions players as their schedule softens.

100 out of 100 team big receiver member own Brandon Coleman, not Willie Snead.

Sean Payton and Drew Brees are not members of Team Big Receiver.

Brandon Coleman just signed a big shoe deal with acme cement.

Lamenting Jarvis Landry's undeserved target hog role in the Dolphins offense.

DeVante Parker will eventually break out but no one can predict which week it happens.

Looking for glimmers of hope for DeMarco Murray in Chip Kelly's words.

Karlos Williams is a fantastic running back in all phases and has very few historical comps.

I'm normally pretty focused on grabbing Johnsons, but i'm more excited about getting my hands on a Boobie Dixon this week.

CJ Anderson is a hot commodity

    in Sports

Mind of Mansion Podcast Episode 152: Matt Kelley @fantasy_mansion highlights the irony of CJ Anderson's 2015 ADP juxtaposed next to his role as Zero RB Theory flagbearer in 2014.

Arian Foster's injury proneness was self-evident.

    Alfred Blue apologists do exist.

Lamenting the challenges of running a dynasty league.

Floors in fantasy football are a function of certainty, and there are two components to a high floor:

    Effectiveness certainty
    Health certainty

C.J. Anderson played an incredibly easy schedule 2014.

If Tre Mason had played C.J. Anderson's opponents in 2014, the Rams would not have drafted Todd Gurley.

Failing at Zero RB is easy.

Zero RB is more challenging, because running backs are not actually commodities.

Zero RB is like shooting free throws from the top of the key. Fantasy football doesn't have to be so hard to execute.

No one owns a Blatt jersey

    in Sports

Mind of Mansion Depth Perspective Episode 139: Matt Kelley @fantasy_mansion explains why coaches do not possess playcalling black magic.

Lamenting the fickle king making role that we have entrusted to the sport media. Mike Martz and Brian Billick ran successful offenses for many years and won Superbowls, and they are now punchlines.

Derek Loville is evidence of Marc Trestman's deference to running back targets.

Lucas Oil Stadium must have been built on sacred football ground.

Coaches have some of the power, but none of the control.

While we genuflect before Chip Kelly, he is not a false prophet.

Football is also held captive by a widely held positive reinforcement vs. negative reinforcement fallacy.

Russell Wilson and Malcolm Butler decided the Superbowl, not Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick.

Siding with P. Diddy over Sal Alosi.

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning deserve to be the boss of their coaches like Roger Federer.

Jordan Matthews is not a slot receiver

    in Sports

Mind of Mansion Podcast Episode 138: Matt Kelley @fantasy_mansion is joined by Jack Delaney to discuss his ebook: Zero RB Theory.

A mystery is solved: Jordan Matthews will be the Philadelphia Eagles' starting flanker.

Correcting the fallacy that Jordan Matthews "lacks the ability to separate."

Jordan Matthews was one of the best wide receivers after the catch in 2014.

Lamenting the overused and nonsensical "too many mouths to feed" fantasy football cliche.

A review of the Zero RB fantasy draft strategy and how to apply it in practice.

Crediting Shawn Siegele as the originator of the Zero RB Theory.

When implementing Zero RB, it makes good sense to target inexpensive passing catching running backs such as Duke Johnson, Reggie Bush, Roy Helu, and Danny Woodhead.
