Danny Page is challenging Lamar Alexander in the upcoming 2014 race for U.S. Senate. His campaign slogan is “Average American, Everyday Tennessean”. Mr. Page joined us back in October and now would like to speak with us again here at "Tapp" into the Truth hoping to cover new ground and give us an update on his campaign to become the next U.S. Senator for the state of Tennessee.
Join me and a gaggle of others as we try to find out where in Tennessee is Lamar Alexander on his Magical Mystery bus Tour!
We also will have people calling in running for local office to talk to us and of course our own take on the news of the week and perhaps a surprize guest or two! Ya never know what will happen on "American By Design!"
So give us a call!

The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness a book by Michelle Alexander a civil rights litigator and legal scholar, published in 2010(The New Press). The book deals with race-related and social, political, and legal phenomena in the United States and attempts to apply the term 'The New Jim Crow' to the situation of African Americans in the contemporary United States. The name derives from the original Jim Crow laws that prevailed in the states of the former Confederacy of the U.S. through the 1960s. This book was on The New York Times Best Seller List ten consecutive months, and philosopherCornel West has called it a "secular bible for a new social movement in early twenty-first-century America." In the book Alexander deals primarily with the issue of the current mass levels of incarceration in the United States (with 5%of the world's population, U.S. incarcerates 25%of the world's prisoners) and what she perceives as societal repression of AfricanAmerican men and, to a lesser degree, Latino men. She discusses the social consequences of various policies for people of color, as well as for the US population as a whole. According to Alexander, the majority of black men in large American cities are "warehoused in prisons," their labor no longer needed in the globalized economy. Alexander maintains that many young black men, once they are labeled as "felons," become trapped in a second-class status that they find difficult to escape. The conventional point of view holds that discrimination has mostly ended with the Civil rights movement reforms of 1960s. Alexander claims the U.S. criminal justice system uses the “War on Drugs” as a primary tool for enforcing traditional, as well as new, modes of discrimination and repression.

In Alexander O'Neal's song "My Gift To You" he sings:
"...I'm offering my heart and soul and every single part I hae to give of myself. My love is what I bring to you is my gift to you..."
Personally, I believe these are the only gifts that ever matter. This show is about the Brilliance of unconventional gifts and love despite judgments, differences, or closed-mind thinking that people often hold over each other. I say get the mistletoe instead and show the love, don't package it up.
I'll have some memories, a few songs, a couple readings, quotes, and the gift of my time to anyone who wants something just a little special at the end of this much celebrated day. Now that all the presents are unwrapped or opened if you received such things and all the guests or you have retreated back home. Maybe kick your feet up in front of the fire or the cmputer and listen to a quiet little special that doesn't require you to dress up or wear fancy shoes.
Just relax and listen to some carefully picked songs a few musings and readings to help you remember what a gift you truly are to anyone and everyone who have had the good occaision to encounter your brilliance!

A LaMar Alexander Story:
LaMar Alexander grew up in a homesteading family. For him, self-sufficiency, including gardening, raising animals and “doing for ourselves” was normal and necessary. He tried city life after college, but says he felt like a slave to a house, bills and employers. At 35, he made a change.
“I had a wake up call,” he explains, “that made me realize that what I really wanted was a simple homestead cabin and to eliminate my dependence on the system, so I could live sustainably while I pursued my dreams.”
So Alexander built a house. A very small, 14 ft. x 14 ft. house. A solar and wind powered off-the-grid cabin with a kitchen, bathroom and living room downstairs and a bedroom and office upstairs. It cost him $2,000 to build not including the recycled doors and windows, the front porch, and the solar system.
Being an avid outdoorsman, Alexander didn’t need a lot of indoor space, but as an author, videographer, and off-the-grid builder, he did need need modern amenities including a cell phone, Internet access, electric lights, indoor toilet, and shower etc., and he has them. Alexander says his tiny house is easy to clean, cheap to heat and cool, and he has no house payments or monthly utility bills.
“I now have the freedom to pursue my dreams,” he says, “and the money I make stays in my pocket and can be used for vacations or to help my family and for a secure retirement. That is the freedom that an off-grid lifestyle makes possible.”
In a pre recorded interview A.J. chats with Felix about his career in pro wrestling, from how he got his start to getting noticed and then called to go to tough enough. A.J. did not win tough enough but that did not bring him down one bit, A.J. would go on and get interviewed by the legendary Larry King. Right now A.J. works for a wrestling company called Hoodslam and even was on the tv show dating naked. We talk about all of that and so much more so do not miss a moment of this great interview.
