Jennifer Steiner-Growth of InnerChange Residential Therapy

    in Family

    [This interview was pre-recorded]

Lon was joined by Jennifer Steiner on December 23, 2014 to talk about how InnerChange Residential Therapy has successfully grown into six programs.  Jennifer is the new CEO of InnterChange and excited about the future of this growing corporation.  Part of the secret was each acquisition was deliberate and chosen for their compatibility with the vision of InnerChange, and had excellent reputations for quality relational work with students and families.  Lake House Academy-NC is the latest acquisition, coming after a several year management contract they had been in with InnerChange.  Lake House Academy works with girls ages 10-14, adds pre-teen girls to the groups served.  InnerChange in the past has predominately worked with all girl programs, except for Oakley School-UT which is coed.  However, according to Steiner, InnerChange does not limit itself to the populations they serve and hold open the possibility of expanding through additional coed schools or even all male programs.  Other InnerChange Schools are: Sunrise Residential Treatment Center-UT, Fulshear Treatment to Transition-TX, Chrysalis-MT and New Haven Residential Treatment Center-UT.

December 22: Tis' The Season Of Asininity

    in Sports

Tis' the season for asininity! Mike "the Buzz-saw" Asti and George "the Howitzer" Gerbo celebrate the holiday season by waxing poetic on Jim Carrey, Jerry "the King" Lawler, and BE Taylor.

With the sports calendar year coming to and end, it needed to go out strong with controversy. When you want controversy, look no further than the NCAA. Alabama, Oregon, Florida State, and Ohio State sounds like a solid college football playoff, right? Mike rants on why the committee did NOT get it right. Is the Big 12 to blame for Baylor and TCU being left out? How can the Big 12 ensure this doesn't happen again? What were the "real" reason Ohio State was selected? If you want some clarity on everything that was asinine about this college football season, listen to Mike explain it to George (as usual).

The MLB hot-stove is already heating up. Are the Dodgers better or just different? Did the White Sox make themselves an AL favorite? What team should we watch the rest of the offseason?

Rajon Rondo has finally been traded. Does his move to Dallas make the Mavs a legit contender in the brutal Western Conference?

A merry Howitzer and Buzz-saw Christmas and a happy asinine new year! Continued conquering of sports radio, one day, at a time for all....!

  • Episode #5: sing to me songs of ascension, as the Archer’s arrow is honed sharp

    in Art

Episode #5, on Saturday, December 21st at 8pm. Winter Solstice - the shortest day, the longest night.  The 6th light of Chanukah, our festival of sacred reclamation, resistance, die-hard faith and service.  How will you transcend your own darkness?  Broadcasting live, just up the street from Lake Ontario. This month, we’re highlighting the kind of love that comes charging out of us when we commit to deep, delicious, pleasureful, joyful, righteous self-love.  This love transforms us and our communities.  It allows us to escape to freedom.  It lifts itself up from lying in the street, immobilized to reaching transcendence, through the signal of song.

    Listen in for:

    - a conversation with Erin Marie Konsmo of The Native Youth Sexual Health Network on her ongoing project, Indigenous Feminist Condom Cases and Beaded Condoms

    - an interview with Kathana Namowrednow and Chenthoori Malan of Heartbeats: the IZZAT Project, a comic book created by young South Asian women to empower themselves and their communities around violence.

    - a discussion with Dawn Weleski of Pittsburgh’s Conflict Kitchen on their recent run-in with the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh over CK’s most recent Palestine iteration.

    - from the Archive: a 1998 recording of legendary activist Assata Shakur reading her open letter to Pope John Paul II on the occasion of his visit to Cuba.  Both Assata and Mike Brown were shot by cops in the US.  Unlike Assata, Mike wasn’t lucky enough to survive.

    - readings from Krishnamurti and music from Meredith Monk, Gabriel Teodros & SoulChef, Ian Kamau x Big Sproxx and more
