Marine Staff Sergeant Thomas Charles Linville (Retired) - Climbing Mt. Everest

    in Spirituality

Marine Staff Sergeant Thomas Charles Linville (Charlie) enlisted in the Marine Corps 2006, and shortly hereafter married his high school sweetheart Mandi. They have two daughters.

Charlie's served multiple tours in both Iraq and Afganistan. It was in the latter, while serving as an Ordinance Disposal Technician - he and his team rendered safe multiple IED’s, disposed of explosives both “homemade” and conventional ammunition - that Charlie was struck by a tertiary device. The explosion inflicted multiple injuries on him, some visible others not. He suffered fractures to his right foot which resulted in an inevitable amputation below the knee. In addition, Charlie suffered the amputations of his right ring and middle fingers. In addition, the blast caused a severe spinal injury at the L4, L5 and S1, which caused radiculopathy in his left leg impairing his mobility, and moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Charlie’s injuries have impaired him but he is determined to return to full functionality. Despite his injuries and debilitating pain, he has volunteered his time with the Armed Services YMCA building houses with Habitat for Humanity and volunteering with Feed America. He has also volunteered with Lives of Promise and Semper Fi Fund. He is an advocate for other wounded warriors, a spokesperson for many of the non-profits that supported him during healing, and an inspiring community leader. He is medically retired from active duty as an EOD Tech and has turned his focus on regaining function in his back as well as improved mobility. Currently he is training rigorously to climb Mount Everest in the spring of 2014. Following his successful summit, Charlie plans to attend Boise State University through the Wyakin Warrior Foundation. He will seek a degree in Engineering.

Diamond Dallas Page and DDP Yoga - Jan 21,2013

    in Fitness

Superstar wrestler-turned-fitness expert Diamond Dallas Page has always done things his own way, never taking “no” for an answer. He began his professional wrestling career at the “mature” age of 35 and quickly shot through the ranks, reaching superstar status by 40. Dallas' career was skyrocketing- titles, fame, and multi-million dollar endorsement deals; his world was a windfall of success. That is, until he was sidelined by a crippling and career-threatening injury: ruptured L4 and L5 discs. Three medical specialists told him he would never wrestle again but desperate to return to health, he eventually hit the yoga mat, where he was blown away by the discipline's mind and body benefits. Soon Dallas put his own spin on traditional yoga, supercharging it to create a heart-pumping workout—a total fitness solution without any joint impact. In less than 3 months Dallas was back in the ring. With his new breed of results-oriented yoga, fusing flexibility core strength conditioning and resistance training with cardio, Dallas did the impossible: he not only bounced back from his injury but also sculpted himself into the best shape of his life. At the age of 43, Dallas was back in top athletic form and that same year earned the Heavyweight Champion title. Now, with DDP Yoga, he is helping thousands of ordinary people, including those with disabilities, to get fit with DDP Yoga. Dallas' mission is to help people from all walks of life, providing the tools and work ethic that can turn the “impossible” into reality. Join co-hosts IFBB Figure Pro Jami DeBernard and Certified Personal Trainer Brian Jagger as they talk to Diamond Dallas page (DDP) about his career, his injury, his rehabilitation, and what he's doing now to help other achivee a fit body.

    The Dreaded Disc Herniation Lie

    in Health

Disc herniations are normally a further development of a previously existing postural imbalanced condition disc protrusion but can bulge when the disc is under pressure.
Most minor herniations heal within several weeks. Anti-inflammatory treatments for pain associated with disc herniation, protrusion, bulge, or disc tear are generally effective. Severe herniations may not heal of their own accord and may require surgical intervention. But...all of this is BS.
Join Jordan Grahm & Dr. Ray while they take a detailed look at The Dreaded Disc Herniation Lie & the false accusations that surround the meaning of its origin.
