Tithing: Malachi, Summary & The Transition

    in Christianity

ADDITIONS TO THE LAW OF MOSES

    Malachi

3:10 Yet God still gives them one last chance.

3:16 Some in Israel respond to the above admonitions, and were remembered by God.

3:17 He promises to spare them as they serve Him.

    Malachi Chapter 4

1 God's judgment against the proud and the wicked: burning and total destruction, leaving neither root nor branch.

2 But a promise of healing and comfortable care to those who fear His Name.

3 Righteousness will be restored and victory given to those that bear His Name.

4 God reminds the people to study the Law of Moses.

5 Promise of a zealous Prophet to warn the guilty and revive the righteous.

6 His ministry will be on a heart level, which is God's complaint against Israel in this book (Malachi).

    1. This rebuke is clearly related to the Israelites in general, and the priests in particular, failing to have done the whole Law of Moses.

    2. Why is Malachi 3:8-12 so popular in church? A. It gives us something to do in order to gain God's blessing. B. It increases funds coming into the church. C. It clarifies our duty and responsibility toward God; all of which are CONTRARY to God's intended relationship with believers today.

    3. God lists adultery, lying, cheating, stealing, divorce, laziness, etc. as grievances. Why is only tithing emphasized? Because verse 10 promises self-gratification.

Summary of Additions to the Law of Moses

    1. Tithing is always mentioned as a part of the whole.

    2. Emphasis on caring for those in ministry, the poor and widow, and the foreigner.

    3. As the time draws near to the coming of the Messiah, the scriptures reflect God's coming to an end with letting the Law define His relationship with His people.

    MAJOR PROPHET : EZEKIAL

    in Christianity

    The Christ of Ezekiel

Ezekiel 17:22-24 depicts the Messiah as a tender twig that becomes a stately cedar on a lofty mountain, as He is similarly called the Branch in Isaiah (11:1), Jeremiah (23:5; 33:15), and Zechariah (3:8; 6:12). The Messiah is the King who has the right to rule (21:26-27), and He is the true Shepherd who will deliver and feed His flock (34:11-31).

Occupy Your Heart - Your Spiritual Journey

    in Spirituality

    Occupy Your Heart

Physical journeys begin and end but not so with Spirituality. Spiritual journeys are ongoing and take us from one dimension to another in an ever axcending cycle.

We're not here to waste our time, to be victimized or sidelined by the circumstances that befall us.  We're here to get it together and find our way Home. Home is where the heart is and that's where we live once that connection is made.

This episode of Your Spiritual Journey is about connecting with that heart-space - your feeling center. It is where we feel that we live, not where we think. Thinking about our feelings comes after we've accepted them and identified what they mean to us. Without that step there's no getting around to where we actually live.

Then we're on the wheel of karma perpetually falling into one trap or another, traps that we created, to keep us feeling victimized and afraid. Its through self-responsibility that we break this cycle and find our way back to center.
Getting off that wheel requires us to connect with our heart. Every psychotherapist worth his/her salt knows this to be true. Guiding people back to where they "live" - that is where they "feel" - is what happens in the consulting room every day.

Only by owning and feeling those feelings then allowing ourselves to express them safely can we ever be free of that self-perpetuating karmic cycle.

So, Occupy Your Heart and you will find your way Home.
