SOMETHING JUST AINT RIGHT - Cocktail Conversations on KLJN 107.7

    in Radio

Welcome to Cocktail Conversations on KLJN 107.7 Radio with The Controversial Counselor, David Glover.

A show based on real life scenarios as published in the book, Cocktail Conversations.   On tonight's episode, we will discuss scenario #30.

Kenny and Dolly dated when they were in college 15 years ago.  Kenny was physically and emotionally attached to Dolly but they ended up going their separate ways.

Dolly ended up getting married but has been divorced the past 2 years. After finding her on Facebook, Kenny has been trying to hook up.

Dolly decided that would be a good thing since Kenny was such the gentleman before.   Kenny invited her over for dinner where he prepared baked salmon, roasted potatoes, corn, string beans, Caesar sala and light and fluffy lemon pound cake.

Kenny also made sure he had Dolly's favorite wine, Red Moscato.

When Dolly arrived, Kenny was trembling with excitement, but it all went sour when they went to kiss and Kenny realized that she was missing all of her front teeth.

Should Kenny terminate this date?  What would you do if you were Kenny?

"LOVE CHANGES" - The LADY JAZ LIVE Show on KLJN 107.7

    in Relationships

The LADY JAZ LIVE Show on KLJN 107.7

Most relationships do not remain static. Whether intended or not, the lives of partners and therefore the life they share, inevitably changes. Sometimes changes are desired and mutual; sometimes one partner wants to change the other; sometimes a partner’s negative behavior causes changes; and sometimes traumatic events change life as they knew it.

    Creating and Handling Change

What, how and why a couple creates and handles change is a complicated and important part of the story they share. No matter what happens, no one arrives with their partner to a new place - without Reflection,

    Communication

    Adjustment

    Transition and Reconnection.

"An Apology Goes A Long Way" - The LADY JAZ LIVE Show on KLJN 107.7

    in Relationships

The old saying that "an apology goes a long way" means it's effective and yields a positive result. When a company apologizes for selling a defective product or failing to live up to their promise, it usually wins back customer trust. The apology may require rectifying the problem by fixing the defective product or by other kinds of restitution. When our mate has spoken hurtful words or otherwise dogged us, a sincere apology usually wins our respect and forgiveness.

Apologizing can be a hard thing to do. Our human nature fights against admitting we've done wrong. Emotions and pride can get in the way. Sometimes we fear that apologizing shows weakness or will bring a consequences.

An apology should admit a mistake and express regret. It's an important remedy for healing a damaged relationship. It tells the offended party that the relationship is important. An apology helps resolve disputes and conflicts.

An apology has a number of positive effects. It doesn't erase past actions or the harm done, but it can erase the negative effects of those actions. A sincere apology brings relief by releasing the emotions, anger, resentment and bitterness. The apology soothes the wound and begins to heal the hurt. It allows the mending of the relationship to begin.

By apologizing, we humble ourselves and are able to unload the guilt for our wrong action and the hurt we have caused another person. It restores self-respect because we take responsibility for our actions. We regain the love, respect and intimacy we once had with our mate.

"Marriage Over Friendship" - COCKTAIL CONVERSATIONS on KLJN 107.7

    in Relationships

Its Wedding season and more choices are too be made.  Would you cut off your friend of almost 20 years to marry your fiance of 2 yrs who is jealous and controlling?

Lets look at this Scenario #  - 52 Marriage Over Friendship.

Sometimes friendships don’t last. Derek and Kelly have been friends for over seventeen years and during those times they had a few moments between them, but nothing too serious. Derek was more of a mentor for Kelly as she moved up the professional ladder. Derek gave her the blueprint and she followed it and her career took off.

When Kelly started dating her soon to be insecure, controlling husband, Ralph, things changed between Kelly and Derek. One day Derek left a message from Kelly’s phone joking with her, something they both did to each other, and Ralph got the message and called Derek up going off without Derek getting in a word. But at times, Derek felt like he was going to have to step to Ralph and kick his ass, but he was more of a professional to behave like that.

The last straw to Derek and Kelly’s friendship ending was the fact that she got married. Derek did not get a personal invitation. Kelly sent the invitation to Derek’s mother who lives in another state. Derek felt like he deserved better and he did not attend the wedding and has not spoken to Kelly since then, which was over eight years ago. Is Derek wrong for feeling bitter?

Let's discuss this situation right now on COCKTAIL CONVERSATIONS on KLJN 107.7.
