Super Bowl 50 Preview: Broncos or Panthers; race issue? Fantasy done in US?

    in Football

Our super Bowl picks.  A big game because Boychic and I are both 7-3 in the playoffs.  And that is all that matters.

Is this a make or break Super Bowl for Cam Newton?  And what about the race question.

More on the L-A relocation.  We think we know what will happen next season.

Will you pay attention to half-time show?

And fantasy sports is still a jumble.  We don’t really know if it will be here or where.  I’m just back from the world’s biggest gaming convention in London and I witnessed a new fantasy sports site.

    Banks closing down fantasy sports.

Kap wants to go to the Jets?

Johnny Manziel might have worse problems than his arm.  We’ll go into some rumors and reports.

Eric Snyder is the author of a book on the Raiders and Raider Nation.  You can hear him on the Power Hour on 1340 Fox Sports Radio in Las Vegas.

I have the Panthers winning 23-16.  It think it goes down to the last series and the kickers are involved.  A few days ago I thought this might be a blow out, but as I looked further I think it is going to be a good one.  I am still worried about the Denver defensive injuries -- even though reports say they played at full speed.  Overall, I think the Panthers are loose.  I think they are a better team but I think the Denver experience keeps them real close.  Who you got?

You can follow me on Twitter and Facebook at John Daly Sports.

Folks, thanks for following and tuning in.  Enjoy the game.

Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers set to face off in Super Bowl 50

    in Sports

With all the scrutiny placed on Peyton Manning this year, he could have the last laugh. Battling through injuries and inconsistent play, Manning will become the oldest quarterback to start a Super Bowl. He breaks the record that was set by his boss, John Elway, who was 38 years old when he started. Cam Newton's spectacular season will end in San Francisco. Newton has rallied the Carolina Panthers to represent the NFC, in Super Bowl 50.

The New England Patriots were playing in their fifth straight AFC Championship game. With a win, they would have been able to defend their Super Bowl title. Stephen Gostkowski is one of the most reliable kickers, but missed an extra point that forced the Patriots to go for two points. Tom Brady has his passed batted and intercepted in the end zone, ending their quest for Super Bowl 50. The Broncos pressured Brady all day, and made the pocket uncomfortable.

Cam Newton silenced anyone who didn't think he should be the MVP. He contributed two touchdown passes and rushed for two more. The Panthers had given up big leads in prior games, but not on Sunday. After a 17-0 first quarter lead, they continued to dominate the Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers intercepted Carson Palmer four times and returned one for a touchdown.

Road To Super Bowl 50: Fallout From AFC & NFC Championships

    in Sports

The road to Super Bowl 50 continues, but now we know the participants. In the AFC contest, Peyton Manning once again overcomes Tom Brady for the rights to go to the big dance. If this really was the final chapter between these two icons, what a finish it was...especially if you're a Broncos fan. The defense played fantastic & Manning made some good throws. But I've said it before & I'll say it again. Kickers are paid to do two things: make field goals & make extra points...especially if they're chip shots. Patriots fans have a right to be ticked off. But there were some questionable play calls down the stretch & Bill Belicheck has to accept the blame for this one. In the NFC, the Panthers came, saw, & conquered. Cam Newton is punching his ticket for his first career Super Bowl trip in Santa Clara. The Cardinals were dominated from start to finish. Carson Palmer's bad finger made have been more painful than nay of us realize. His play may have indicated that. But nonetheless, unlike last the previos week, the Panthers did NOT take their foot off the gas. For the first time, the big bowl will be decided between two former #1 overall picks (Manning 1998, Newton 2011). Join Rocket Monday evening @ a special time, 11pm as he recaps Sunday's games & looks ahead a little to Super Bowl 50 in two weeks. Rocket Nation, get ready for a power trip.

NFL Week 5: Batting Around Some Controversy; Great Coaching; Horrible Kickers

    in Football

We heading to week 5 of the NFL season.  And of course, the season has had no controversy.

We will bat around the latest.

We'll talk about some horrible kicking.  And we’re not talking just extra points – but field goals.

We will run down this week's big games. And we'll check out your fantasy.

Joining me – as always -- is Eric Snyder, our NFL expert.  He is the author of a book on the Raiders and Raider Nation.  You can also hear him on the Power Hour on Fox Sports Radio 1340 in Vegas.

    Hello Boychick,

    Two big take-aways:

First the controversial call.  The officials blew it on the field.  Instant replay needs to be changed.  And players need to know the rules.  When I saw the ball pushed out, I thought wait where is Dave Caspar?

There were some other controversial calls.  I thought the fumble by Travis Kelcie was a weird call.  Do we allow for instant replay during the whole game and take it out of the hands of the coaches?

Second big take-away from last week was the fabulous coaching. I look at Jeff Fisher who turned around the Rams to beat the Cardinals. I look at what Chuck Pagano did to get the Colts in the win column without Andrew Luck.  I look at Tom Coughlin who has the Giants back on track.  Or is this league just so competitive that each week it's a difficult to put two wins back to back?

Third take-away: horrible kicking.  Josh Scobee has already been released by the Steelers.  One article said Scobee had made fun of Tiger’s chipping yips and karma came back to get him.  But is it the new extra point rule causing Field Golf problems?

There were some other controversial calls.  I thought the fumble by Travis Kelcie was a weird call.

    in Lifestyle

The Expedia 2015 Airplane Etiquette Study just released this month (November) found that 59% of Americans believe “Inattentive Parents” – parents who exhibit little or no control over their children – are the 2nd most aggravating co-passengers.

The number 1 most aggravating? “Rear Seat Kickers.” And since kids tend to be the biggest culprits, parents are feeling the pressure here, too, when it comes to travelling.Additionally, social shaming has become a reality, according to the survey. A quick glance at #UnrulyKids and you’ll find many of the social media posts originate from airports and airplanes. But with holiday family vacations creating some of the best memories for children and their parents, what can we do to make the travel experience awesome for all involved?

Live via satellite from Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Travel Expert (and mother of four) Sarah Gavin is available to discuss: How parents can enhance their attentiveness while on the road during the busiest travel season of the year. What her personal survey of children revealed about how parents change on vacation.Additional findings from the 2015 Airplane Etiquette Study

We heard you did a study about the most annoying people on planes.  Who came in as most annoying and what to do you do this holiday if you’re stuck next to them? Or if you’re one of them?

That looks like the Disney castle behind you. What’s new at Disney this holiday season? How can families save money this holiday?  Do you have any tips and tricks on when to buy, when to travel.
