Pick Up at Union Station, is the latest book from "The Asphalt Warrior" series by the late Gary Reilly, winner of the 1979 Pushcart Prize. Reilly passed away in 2011 after a two-year battle with colon cancer, trusting a pair of friends to publish his works (25 titles in all) after his death.
Since then, Reilly’s works have been in the hands of Mike Keefe, a retired political cartoonist and Pulitzer Prize winner, and Mark Stevens, a former journalist and acclaimed mystery author.
Join Mike Keefe, Mark Stevens and me on Tuesday, June 30, 10-11 A.M. CT US. We will be discussing the power of their relationships in honoring their dear friend Gary, by having his writings available to everyone to enjoy.
"Because There Is A War For Your Soul" Nothing boring or too political or super spiritual. Just probably some of the most revolutionary and useful information you will find on radio. Join us live Tuesdays at 10am CST or catch us on the run.
It’s time to talk straight about the war between God and Satan that is going on in our souls. And though the battle is the Lord’s and has already been won, the Enemy still seems to have a lot to say that has left too many of us doubtful and confused about what is going on and what can be done about it. It is time to talk back and tell it like it is!
Hosted by Marjorie Cole, founder of Life Recovery, Inc., and author of “Taking the Devil to Court” with Jarry Cole, Pastor of True Light Church as the featured guest pastor and roving co-host.
I have a dream...Celebrating Our Jubilee!
Our forefathers and mothers planted trees from which we gather fruit, and dug wells from which we quench our thirst. Civil Rights Activist marched for us, died for us and pleaded for our equality.
So what are we leaving behind for our communities today? What are we fostering in the minds of our Black children? How will we strengthen our families and our communities? How will we show the power of LOVE in the world? How are we Leading Change?
Fifty years ago, Dr. King's "I Have a Dream..." Speech debuted in Detroit and transformed a nation. Today, we Celebrate our Jubilee and join in that movement, teaching us all to evolve in our beliefs, values and purpose for the elevation of our consciousness for unity of all.
Today, we are summarizing the 2015 PowerNetworking Conference hosted by Dr. George C.Fraser, author of Success Runs in Our Race. This event is to empower African-American Professionals to Learn, Earn and Return to their communities, empowering Blacks economically, psychologically, culturally and physically.
Being predominantly African American, the City of Detroit is an iconic city to help inspire economic empowerment, political empowerment, and social empowerment by unifying our messages of self-worth so we confidently work together and create viable communities creating opportunities for our black children. Our children must begin to see from us in their daily lives the vision that Dr. King left us with so they remain filled with hope, and pursue to excel accordingly.
It's time to re-evaluate ourselves, our community, and cease losing our power, by strategically applying economic and marketing principles so we are stronger as a Community economically.
We are powerful, and together we rise!
The day starts off with Eric Harris and Mark, his brother on a show called, Renaissance Rappin’. A couple of education driven Black Americans that talk (that’s where the rappin’ comes in) about today’s drama and critical situations. The employment crisis for Blacks, political representation, celebrity talk, and questions and answers that plague our country. This ain’t kindergarten or high school, this is mind elevation and the raising of the plateau on mountains of stress relation issues that have potential correction abilities. Join them 347-205-9366 –

Be careful of the cartoons you're letting your children watch. Animated shows aren't necessarily children's shows. They may contain vulgarity, profanity, inappropriate subject matter, and bad behavior you certainly don't want your children to imitate. So how can we know what to trust? Public television stations and Community television stations are often the safest source for wholesome TV shows for children. Unless adults become involved in behind the scenes political squabbles. TV Producer and Former ECTV Board member Trish Edwards discusses her struggle to continue her wholesome, educational children's television program despite adult conflicts that threaten to remove her long time running shows from Evanston Community Television.
The run for the available City Council seats are just a few months away and the most contested seat is the 1st Ward seat held by Rev. Staton who is not running for re-election as far as we know!!!! As it stands right now there are five (count em five ) candidates in the running for the first ward... Manny Martinez, Veronica Ovalles, Mike Jackson, Alveria Spencer and maybe, just maybe Bernard Jones.... The second ward is a hot seat that is up for grabs also with Mohammed Akhtaruzzaman, Shahin Kalique, Eddie Gonzalez with the push seeming to go towards Kailique dispite some controversy regarding his background and (rumors) of his million-dollar bus company operating some-what illegaly. Then there is the Council President spot that is up in the air.... With 4th Ward Councilwoman Ruby Cotton and 3rd Ward Councilman Bill McKoy who by the way is the Council Elder Statesman knocking on the door.. With no real oppisition the Freeholder seats look to be going in the direction to Hector Lora, John Barlett and Sandi Lazzara as I beleive they should be.. With possibly more names to come as we get closer to November.... Petitions are due very soon and if you don't have enough then your out!!!!!!
