Riding Rough Shod With Rod - Rod Eccles

    in Politics Conservative

Dedication: To the unseen victims of PTSD.

KIA means “killed in action,” and might not seem to apply to the death of Timothy Fjordbak, 63, allegedly at the hand of Jerry Serrato, 48, on the fourth floor of the El Paso clinic at Fort Bliss.

    But, unfortunately, it does.

An Open Read of "Tribulations of Love" Through the Good and the Bad

    in Romance

“Tribulations of Love” is a Romantic Drama series centered around lessons learned while ensuring the commitment of marriage.

When bad shows up early in your marriage, how do you hold on?

“Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; also trust in him, and he shall bring it to pass.” Psalms 37:4-5

Promising to marry Kia and raise their child together after their college love affair made them parents prematurely, Will was determined to do the Christian thing.  His parents taught him always to take responsibility for your part in anything you do and make it right.  He loved her, and he wanted to “make it right”.   But when the pivotal life choice of fulfilling his dream offer of his career as an OB/GYN 3,000 miles away or getting married were placed on his table of life, he chose his career.  Not wanting to stand in the way of his happiness, a hurt Kia considered his drive for the one thing he always talked about, being a doctor.  She figured she would wait for him until reality came in the shape of a female resident she caught him kissing outside of the clinic where he was doing his residency.  She learned that her name was Nita.

Join Lynne tonight as she reads snippets of her project "Tribulations of Love" and opens the discussion to what inspired her to write this Christian romance series.

Making it happen through the “Good” and the “Bad.”

Our Viral Lives: Young Activists Discuss HIV/AIDS

    in LGBT

Unfortunately, some people believe that HIV/AIDS is over. Many of us know better. While the leaders of the early movement are very visibile to some -- names like Peter Staley and Mark Harrington come to mind -- some are unsure about who will be leading the movement of tomorrow. More importantly, what will the HIV/AIDS epidemic look like in the future? Today, we will speak with four young activists who recently presented at New York City's LGBT Center about their work as young HIV/AIDS activists. We will talk with Kyle Bella, the founder of Our Viral Lives, a digital narrative project, Martez Smith, an HIV+ black public health student, Kia Labeija an artist and photographer and a part of New York City's famed House of Labeija and Charlie Ferrusi, an MPH student who hopes to enter the world of government work and make advocacy for underrepresented populations his focus.

First Live Excerpt Reading of REDISCOVERING KIA By Hezekiah L. Montgomery

    in Christianity

Join me Hezekiah L. Montgomery along with my Co-Host Nichelle Johnson as I do my first Excerpt readings from my first novel REDISCOVERING KIA.  We are in our last month of fundraising for REDISCOVERING KIA THE PLAY so I'm looking forward to doing something different since the book came out.  People have told me that they've enjoyed REDISCOVERING KIA.  So as part of our fundraising month I'm doing my first reading ever.  Am I little nervous, yes, but I know that I'm going to have some fun as well as I read, talk about the reading and have discussion as well.

Rediscovering Kia was my testimony that God had me right down to be able to help others that may get caught up in sin and don't know how to get back on course to God.  As I  wrote there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, we and I mean us, you and me have to hold on and not give up and not worry about what others are thinking because we have a God who's waiting with His arms OPEN WIDE for us to return to Him and be a light for others.

I will say that I enjoyed the last show with all of the support t that was there to discuss the book and how it's going to be an awesome play.  I'm totally siked right now with jus the thought of my first novel becoming a play.  So with that say, join me as I read, ignite your interest and plug you into supporting REDISCOVERING KIA THE PLAY.  And I'll see you at the Mirror...
