What are the secrets to an everlasting marriage?  Could it simply be learning how to empathize, that listening and sharing a burder works wonders.  Could it be learning to stay respectful of each other.

In studies focused on the positive habits of happily married couples, this is what they found.  REMEMBER your a team, you're in this together.  TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS, use a warm tone of voice.  SOFTEN conflict with humor...LAUGH.  SUPPORT but don't SMOTHER. Kahil Gibran said 'let there be spaces in your oneness.'  CELEBRATE each OTHER.

THE PROPHET by: Khalil Gibran (1923)

    in Lifestyle

The Prophet  (1923)   Kahlil Gibran  - read by: Ngon'e Aw

The Prophet provides timeless spiritual wisdom on a range of subjects, including giving, eating and drinking, clothes, buying and selling, crime and punishment, laws, teaching, time, pleasure, religion, death, beauty and friendship. Corresponding to each chapter are evocative drawings by Gibran himself.

    Love and marriage

Foolish is the person, the prophet says, who 'would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure', for to wish this leads to less of a person, who has seen less pain but also less pure joy. The prophet says: "When love beckons to you, follow him/Though his ways are hard and steep".

We cannot wish for love to reach only a certain measure, or to presume that we can direct the way its course, "for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course." As much as love allows for our growth, it also acts to prune us so that we grow straight and tall.

When questioned about marriage, the prophet departs from the conventional wisdom that it involves two people becoming one. A true marriage gives both people space to develop their individuality, in the same way that "the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow".

In search of a lost love and understanding of the romantic fairy-tale

    in Self Help

Nancie Zeller is an artist, designer, business women, educator, and consummate mother, but what has brought her to Meaningful Connections is her mother's book and legacy to the World: Love, Sex, and Beyond Time.

Nancy's mom, Mary Zeller, was a registered nurse that opted out of her career, and the love of writing, to be the consummate wife and mother. She wrote “Love, Sex, and Beyond Time” after the passing of her husband in search of the lost love and understanding of the romantic fairy-tale she lived. The book is a compilation of Mary’s personal thoughts, saying and quotes combined with some of the greatest minds throughout history broaching the topics of love, life, sex, and the hereafter.

Some quotes or points of interest in the book:
Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. Kahil Gibran

You can only find true happiness through love, yet, without love you are only a vessel. Mary Zeller

And so it seems that we have met before and laughed before and loved before but who knows where or when. Richard Rogers and Lorenz Hart

Are you and your significant other committed to your relationship?  Do you have the ability to accept each other as each of you are RIGHT NOW.

They say opposites attract.  With diverse opinions and visions, can you as a couple model what can be accomplished together.  Can you as a committed partner have the ability to recognize that when you're in a relationship that is equal and safe and you trust your partner, you become MIRRORS OF EACH OTHER.  This is dependent upon openess and trust that is uncommon in non-intimate relationships.

We Are Mad At You For Leaving Afghanistan, Really?

    in Current Events

International forces operating in Afghanistan are moving too quickly toward the exit doors, a Russian defense minister said Wednesday.

International forces in Afghanistan wrap up their combat operations next year, transitioning to an advisory role as Afghan forces take on security responsibilities.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said it was too soon to give Afghan forces more authority.

The International Security Assistance Force "has been too hasty about making the final decision to pull out in 2014," he was quoted by state news agency RIA Novosti as saying. "Domestic security forces capable of countering radical elements have not yet been created."

Russian military intelligence in May said it was concerned radical elements inside Afghanistan may become more influential after 2014.

Nearly 7,000 Russian troops are stationed in Tajikistan, Afghanistan's northern neighbor. Antanov said the Russian military was "doing very much" to strengthen its regional military position ahead of the pullout.

Rev Windhorse, Basic Goodness: Ep. #5, Aromatherapy as Healer

    in Self Help

Wholism is a MindBodySpirit issue.  Allopathic approaches divide the body, and separate body from mind...yet for many thousands of years, Eastern knowledge has approached malady as imbalance...rather than disease.  I've learned to distinguish dis-ease, lack of ease...from "disease."  Disease, with fatal or lingering symptoms, is something we actually build and cultivate in ourselves, because we buy into a notion that the dis-ease is stronger than the miracle of our body..  We have been taught to believe that we WILL get 'sick,' and that we are powerless to help ourselves...and must have someone or some chemical do it for us.

It becomes blatently apparent to me that as we depend on that which is outside ourselves, Doctors, Hospitals, Supermarkets, etc...we are relinquishing our Autonomy!!  We are DEpendent instead of INdependent.

And so I advocate and practice Wholism and am healthy, happier and happier...

I will start the show with a reading from Kahlil Gibran, "My Soul Counseled Me."  This Notion, Li, Inner-Listening is a subject enlivened in today's ever-growing population of people Seeking to understand where they Begin...where the SOUL of Life Began...and where they/we can Connect to and Be that Basic Goodness which is the Substance of Wholeness.

With Love to you, With Reverence for ALL Life, Irene Windhorse
