#040: The Ketogenic Diet - Jimmy Moore

    in Health

The ketogenic diet is buit on some very heavy, technical and potentially boring princples - it basically boils down to teaching your body how to burn fat for fuel (yay!) instead of sugar.

Side effects of ketosis include weight loss, normalisation of blood sugar levels and increased brain function.... somehow. I sat down with weight loss legend and master of turning complicated concepts into simple explanations, host of the Livin' La Vida Low Carb podcast and author of the new Ketogenic Cookbook Jimmy Moore, to talk about what exactly this diet is and does.

    We cover:

    - What it actually means to burn fat for fuel instead of sugar

    - Who should try this diet (and how)

    - Why it doesn't mean you have to eat boring food all day

Hosted by David White of Authentic Wellness Radio

Should You Try a Ketogenic Diet? with Author Jimmy Moore

    in Health

Ketosis is a nutritional state in which we are primarily burning fats for fuel.  Perhaps the easiest example of this is when you think of a traditional Eskimo diet, in which the vast majority of calories came from the fat of sea animals.

But you don't have to eat only whale blubber to get into ketosis!  Our guest today, renowned podcaster Jimmy Moore of Livin' La Vida Low Carb, joins us to talk about his book, Keto Clarity, co-authored with Dr. Eric Westman, MD.

Jimmy spent one year experimenting with a ketogenic diet, documenting his daily ketone measurements, scanning his body fat, checking his blood labs for sugar, cholesterol and more.

A ketogenic diet can be used for more common complaints, such as:

    Brain Fog
    Mood swings.

Jimmy also has a book soon to be published on July 28, 2015, the Ketogenic Cookbook, co-written with Maria Emmerich.

Health & Wellness Show - Jan 8, 2016 - Does Knowledge Trump Diet?

    in Health

Despite the fact that there are many people who are doing good work in the intricacies of exploring the ideal diet for humanity, it often seems there are missing pieces of the puzzle as far as having a solid foundational understanding of the ponerized world we live in. Likewise, some who do a great job of exploring the playground of the psychopaths in which we live, looking into the corruption, violence and complete lack of logic in which we're embedded, yet don't seem to have a clue about the importance of getting the human machine into an optimal state of health.

Our question stands: does anyone out there have the whole banana? Can looking into the minutiae of dietary knowledge act as a distraction from a wider view of the world in which we live? Or can we get lost in the big picture and forget about the importance of working on ourselves?

Join us on Fridays at 10 am EST as we discuss this subject and more on the SOTT Radio Network's Health and Wellness Show. With us as always will be resident animal health expert Zoya with her weekly Pet Health Segment.

The Whole Health Diet: A Transformational Approach to Weight Loss

    in Weight Loss

THE WHOLE HEALTH DIET: A Transformational Approach to Weight Loss with Dr. Mark Mincolla

Americans are avid dieters, with nearly one third of our entire nation taking up dieting every year. Yet, according to The Food Addiction Institute, diets have a success rate of between ten and thirty percent. Dr. Mark Mincolla, natural health care practitioner and author of THE WHOLE HEALTH DIET: A Transformational Approach to Weight Loss, claims that this high failure rate is due to a flawed approach to dieting that focuses only on physical changes. What dieters need, Dr. Mincolla argues, is a more holistic approach that addresses the root causes of weight gain: our emotional, mental, and spiritual needs.

In THE WHOLE HEALTH DIET, Mincolla not only teaches readers how to tackle emotional eating; he shows them how to develop and maintain their own personalized, energy-calibrated nutrition plan. Based on the notion that each individual’s metabolism reacts differently to various foods, Mincolla shows dieters how to electromagnetically test themselves for metabolic food intolerances.

Mark Mincolla, Ph.D. is a legendary natural health care practitioner who has transformed the lives of many thousands of people over the past 30 years. Mark has integrated ancient Chinese energy techniques with cutting edge nutritional science in what has become his innovative Electromagnetic Muscle Testing system (EMT).  The main focus of his integrated east-west approach is what he calls Acutrition, as it zeros in on each individual’s unique nutritional needs.
