The Kerri Edelman Show presents Rock Band Red Sun Rising

    in Rock Music

Rock music should be built to last. Since its genesis, the genre has been all about longevity not a “flavor of the month” or a “flash in the pan.” Whether you go back to the seventies or nineties pillars, the goal was to create something that can be lived with for a lifetime. It still can be that way. Akron, Ohio’s Red Sun Rising—Mike Protich [vocals/guitar], Ryan Williams [guitar], Tyler Valendza [guitar], Ricky Miller [bass/vocals], and Pat Gerasia [drums], proudly carry on that tradition with their full-length debut, Polyester Zeal [Razor & Tie]. “It’s not today’s rock, but it’s a new alternative,” declares singer and guitarist Mike Protich. Through tireless gigging, they built up an impressive local fan base, soon attracting the attention of multiple labels. Razor & Tie rushed to Akron in the Fall of 2014 and signed the band following a sold out hometown show.  The band headed to Los Angeles shortly after to cut Polyester Zeal with celebrated producer Bob Marlette [Black Sabbath, Shinedown, Seether]. They managed to siphon the pure, potent, powerful guitar chemistry, towering vocals, and muscular rhythms into the record’s 11 tracks with all of the “grit” intact. The first single “The Otherside” sees thick clean guitars clash with an unshakable refrain that’s as airy as it is anthemic. However, Polyester Zeal will be, and it firmly establishes Red Sun Rising’s place in rock. “The title sums it up,” concludes Mike. “Zeal is something you strive for, while Polyester is obtainable. The juxtaposition is, ‘What’s your obtainable dream?’ Ours is to tell stories through these songs. Hopefully, it makes you feel something. That’s what rock is supposed to do after all.” For more information, visit www.redsunrisingmusic.com

The Kerri Edelman Show presents Hard Rock Band Trapt

    in Rock Music

Holing up in a Burbank, California studio, Trapt began to prolifically crank out songs for their 5th album "Reborn." The record's first single "Bring It" served as the catalyst, sparking a veritable flurry of creativity. Fusing together propulsive guitars and an unforgettable upbeat refrain, it's an anthem on par with the band's biggest hits. You could easily hear this piping through an arena with a rallying power. Expanding their patented hard rock sound, the group also seamlessly incorporated flourishes of electronic music to punctuate the drama and energy. Drawing from an ever expanding pallet of electronic and organic sounds and instruments, Brown embraced another side of himself and imbued it into Reborn. Trapt have worked for well over a decade to reach this point. Their 2002 self-titled debut surpassed sales of 2 million units, and its lead-off single "Headstrong" was ranked the #1 alternative song and #8 rock song by Billboard. They were a featured act on Rock Band and Tap Tap Revenge 2, and they also fueled countless WWE specials. In addition, they've shared the stage with heavy hitters such as Mötley Crüe, Nickelback, Hinder, Chevelle, and many more. Most recently, No Apologies entered the Billboard Top 200 at number 25 in 2010. Trapt is currently in the studio recording their 6th album DNA and have released a song from the album called "Passenger" that embodies the more progressive side of TRAPT's brand of hard rock as an intro to what fans can expect from the album. The band is also gearing for their summer tour dubbed the "Life In Your Own Hands" Tour. The new album DNA is shaping up to be a landmark album for TRAPT. It surpasses anything the band has done before and subsequent singles will show the true power that this band possesses. Get ready for DNA, it's going to change everything. • The Kerri Edelman Show presents Hard Rock Band Art of Dying

    in Rock Music

There is an old saying which claims that great art is 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration. The truth though is that exceptional creativity is nurtured by a complexly brewed combination of unswerving dedication and God-given talent. It’s a fact no better illustrated than by the history of Vancouver’s hard-rockers ART OF DYING and their talismanic frontman Jonny Hetherington. What ART OF DYING has been able to create is muscular, vivacious hard-rock bursting with lung-shattering choruses and a sincerity that is impossible to fake. Equally at home with a lead-fingered riff or a deft slow-burner, there is an ease of breadth in AOD’s repertoire that would send most of their peers salad-green with envy. Gradually, Hetherington’s ambitions grew beyond his local sidewalk and he began to seek out like-minded collaborators that he could expand his already impressive template with. Drummer Jeff Brown was swiftly recruited and he and Hetherington set about formulating the powerful nucleus of what ART OF DYING would soon become. It was recordings of those initial sessions that would eventually find their way into the hands on DISTURBED’s Dan Donegan - a guitarist with both a fine personal pedigree and a keen ear for new talent. Plucked from relative obscurity, the band introduced guitarist Tavis Stanley and bassist Cale Gontier to their ranks on the eve of the run with DISTURBED - the quartet playing onstage together for the very first time during the soundcheck of the opening show of the tour. Now, with a critically-acclaimed and widely-played major label debut under their belts, ART OF DYING are returning with new long-player RISE UP, their most imperious effort to date and, by the band’s own admission the truest representation of their sound they’ve ever distilled, which was produced by David Bendeth (Bring Me The Horizon, Breaking Benjamin, Of Mice & Men). The Kerri Edelman Show presents Hard Rock Band Separations

    in Rock Music

Standing out from the pack isn’t always easy. However, it’s essential for some, and from the beginning, Separations' desire has been to blaze their own trail. The Atlanta quintet strikes a delicate balance between energetic heaviness and melodic hypnosis on its full-length debut album for Imagen Records, 'Dream Eater,' set to be released October 2, 2015, and produced by James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Hands Like Houses, Dashboard Confessional). Comprised of Will Crafton - vocals, Myles Priest - guitar, Tyler Whitfield - guitar, Brenden Worthington - bass, and Thomas Pinson - drums, it turns out that the band's name has a special meaning to its members. "The name was something we all agreed on instinctually, at the same time, admits Will. "In the literal sense, sometimes you need to separate yourself from the things that keep you grounded and are comfortable in order to succeed. Each Separations performance remains unpredictable, making for an unforgettable experience every time these five musicians hit the stage - which will be on display when the band hits the road this September and October alongside Nothing More, Marmozets, and Turbowolf, as part of the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. “As long as we form a connection with anyone listening to the music, then we’re accomplishing what we set out to do,” concludes Will. The time is coming to unite with Separations. For more information, visit www.twitter.com/separationsband

  • The Kerri Edelman Show presents Rock Band Aranda

    in Rock Music

Dameon Aranda and Gabe Aranda started their first band in the 5th grade. They were inspired by their parents favorite musicians: Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Cat Stevens. On their first release, the self-taught musicians worked with the Grammy nominated production team of Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello. 2009 saw Aranda’s first charting single, “Still in the Dark,” break into the Top 30 chart for active rock radio across the country. That same year, Dameon Aranda received an unexpected phone call from Kelly Clarkson, asking if she could cover two of Aranda’s songs on her album, All I Ever Wanted-including the high-energy in your face rebel song, “Whyyawannabringmedown.” This song was selected by the WWE as the theme song for the pay per view event, The Bash, and “All I Ever Wanted” became the title track of Clarkson’s album. Soon after, Aranda released their second album, Stop the World, which was produced by Grammy nominated producer, Johnny K, (Disturbed, Staind, Sevendust and Drowning Pool.) They embarked on a nationwide tour with Daughtry and 3 Doors Down. There are elements of “Stop the World” on Aranda’s forthcoming release, Not the Same. The band is taking their life experiences, the changes they have gone through and channeling all the emotional feelings into a collection of songs that will introduce fans to a rebirth of Aranda. The 11 new songs, including one stripped down acoustic and one self proclaimed “disco-y pseudo rock track”, are each their own piece to a larger story about a journey that overcomes darkness. Not the Same will be your own personal light at the end of the tunnel. Aranda brings their message of hope and optimism to their audience. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/arandaband
