William Steinke - Lance Coporal 6:15pm
William E. Steinke. I am a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine stationed at Twenty-nine Palms
California. I am contacting you today because I am gravelly concerned my civil rights as an African American are being violated. The issue arose around a year ago when I was accused of sexual assault.
The allegation I faced was worrisome but I had faith in the judicial system. Shortly after being accused I was transferred, for medical reasons, to a unit called P.A.D (Personnel Awaiting Disposition). One day while
walking to my room I was stopped by military police and asked if I was willing to give permission to have my room searched. I, along with my other two roommates all agreed. We waited around for them to finish then I found myself being handcuffed and taken in for questioning. Before I realized
what had happened I had been sent to the Brig (Military Prison).

Affordable Attorney Access, Legal Services, Members Stories and Extra Benefits
I signed up for an online class...and I wasn't really sure if I was going to utilize the class. But they had a 30-day money back guarantee...So I sent them an email...to take advantage of my refund. They said 'You asked for a check and we don't give checks.' My attorney wrote them a letter...and about 10 days later I got a telephone call from this company.
I had a debt company calling me, and I hadn't been able to take care of it. And it eventually got to the point where they mailed me a settlement letter....So I called my law provider... I was very grateful I had somebody on my side that day.

SHOW NOTES: In the MYTH WARRIORS™ series we are targeting ideas to begin to assess whether they are credible or not. We are warriors fighting to establish clarity between what is accurate and what is simply a myth (or falsehood) in life. All of this is in furtherance of our mission to surpass our goals! In this episode we explore, “Stereotype Threat does not exist.”
What is a Stereotype?
"Stereotypes are widely held cultural beliefs that are resistant to change."
(Block, Koch, Liberman, Merriweather, & Roberson, 2011)
What is Stereotype Threat?
“The phenomenon known as “stereotype threat.” Members of groups believed to be academically inferior — African-American and Latino students enrolled in college, or female students in math and science courses — score much lower on tests when reminded beforehand of their race or gender. […] found that black students performed comparably with white students when told that the test they were taking was “a laboratory problem-solving task.” Black students scored much lower, however, when they were instructed that the test was meant to measure their intellectual ability. In effect, the prospect of social evaluation suppressed these students’ intelligence.”
Minorities aren’t the only ones vulnerable to stereotype threat. We all are. A group of people notably confident about their mathematical abilities — white male math and engineering majors who received high scores on the math portion of the SAT — did worse on a math test when told that the experiment was intended to investigate “why Asians appear to outperform other students on tests of math ability.” (PAUL, 2012)
Does it exist?

Welcome to the latest installment of The Grindhouse, courtesy of Afronerd Radio airing this Saturday at 6pm (EST). Our Grindhouse broadcast, not unlike a 70s cinematic presentation, is a "double feature" audio experience with The Comic Shoppe and Afronerd Radio airing at 6pm and 7pm, respectively. For The Comic Shoppe, the crew uses their own "electron microscopes" to illuminate the following issues: Comic Book historian, Prof. Bill Foster joins the crew to discuss the past, present and future of Black representation in comics; Marvel Comics' print division makes history (and controversy) with switching the gender and race of Thor and Captain America, respectively; Xbox Entertainment Studios lays of 18,000 workers after announcing new TV shows in development a few months ago and lastly, our thoughts on the release of new shows (or leaks)-Constantine, Extant, The Strain, Legend of Korra. Call us live at 646-915-9620!
And batting clean up, we have Afronerd Radio airing at 7pm. Join Dburt and Capt. Kirk as they tackle the following subjects: the MH17 Malaysian airplane tragedy and the international fallout as the investigation ensues; the Straight Out of Compton casting fiasco proves that there's minstrelsy in front and behind the camera; the Koch Brothers donate 25 million to the UNCF causing others to question their loyalty to the famed educational organization; a Black woman creates a crowdfunding campaign seeking "White privilege"; a Staten Island father dies by police choke hold and lastly, a Black Voices piece posits that the White LGBT appropriation of Black female culture is racist (huh?). Another must hear show!
The petroleum industry thinks they're just little earthquakes but your inquisitive host is wondering if it could become a bigger problem even though its already a problem but the conservatives never see a problem as long as the 'black' guy is in charge...racism, yes. Bill O'Reilly is the biggest alarmist and Republican propaganda machine at FoxNews because he's a bully and DOES NOT have the guts to engage anyone with a lick of academic training in a scholarly debate...and he got an MPA at Harvard. All sorts of good shit out there for me to rant, rave, and riff about...though they are MY opinion alone and are only involved with my website sevsdeadserious.com...take that FoxNews legal bloodhounds.
Local news and commentary with hook-up music our great grandparents. National current affairs and featured news audio clips. Callers welcome.
Program Summary 12 July 2014
Filmmakers Tia Lessen and Carl Deal worked with Michael Moore on Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine, and made a movie, Trouble the Water, on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. They made plans to deal with money in politics and the Citizens United Supreme Court decision when in early 2011 a grassroots rebellion began in Wisconsin.
The newly elected governor Scott Walker, deeply funded by money from the Koch brothers, had proposed eliminating bargaining rights for public employees. Tia Lessen and Carl Deal captured - over several months - one of the most inspiring social movements of our time and the first large scale rebellion against money in politics. The images of teachers, nurses and fire fighters occupying the State House, one on one conversations with participants in the protests - many of them Republicans who reject the extremism of the Tea Party, and the coverage of the recall campaign that collected almost a million signatures - all that makes up the heart of the movie.
Sadly though Walker's high financed rise to power and the even better funded defeat of the recall movement stand at the beginning and end of the movie as warning that the power of money over politics must be broken. This movie is a contribution to that end.
Independent radio journalist and producer, Christina Aanestad spoke with Tia Lessen at the opening of her film in San Francisco at the Opera Plaza Cinemas. It was a packed house and they spoke in the lobby of the theater amongst late arrivals of movie goers and a popcorn stand.
July 8 Lisa Graves, The Progressive magazine publisher and editor in chief Center for Media and Democracy talks with Democracy Now Amy Goodman latest revelations about Charles Koch's background.
When you hear Detroit, you think of a place where legends are made. Detroit was once a great and vibrant City. Because of years of mismangement and neglect, it is now a shell of what it once was. There will be a Mass Rally on Friday, July 18th, 2014 at1 Hart Plaza, Detroit, MI 48226 by Progressive Democrats of America to fight incumbent GOP Governor Rick Snyder's approach on how he is mishandling Michigan. Why is it that when businesses owe thousands of dollars for water, they don't get cut off? When the "Average Joe" and "Average Jane" owes a little in comparison their water is cut off? It's inhumane and plain cruel!
Rick Snyder and his heartless cadre of elected Republicans in Michigan have proven how out of touch they really are. They are controlled by the wealthy Koch Brothers and DeVoes Family. Michigan Media have been M.I.A. as nobody cares for the citizens of Detroit. Where do we go from here and what can you do to make your voices heard and make a difference? If you think it won't happen to you in your City? Think again! They're trying to privatize everything including water. It's time to fight back America!
Monica Patrick from the Detroit Water Coalition is our special guest tonight. We'll discuss what's being done to combat this grave injustice and how you can help. Join us!

Does anyone realize that Congress will spend more money trying to prove Benghazi when the previous 8 hearings proved nothing, while spending next to nothing on the VA scandal. Yours truly has figured it out, if its a bi-partisan problem, Repubublicans/Tea Baggers would rather do nothing but if it can discredit the black president or a future candidate, well, that's a problem. With all the talk of the deficit, the Republican nitwits spend millions proving nothing while add to their beloved deficit and then blaming it on the liberals and progressives. An even bigger problem...liberals and progressives doing nothing to stop them. Get off your hands and do something...anything.
