Episode 1602: Yaisel Sierra, Kenta Maeda, Alex Anthopoulos

    in Sports

A busy week for the Dodgers gave Jacob Burch and Eric Stephen a lot of topics to discuss on the latest edition of the True Blue LA podcast. We talked Kenta Maeda and how he abosrbed quite a bit of risk in his eight-year contract, and how cool the concept of a "champagne fight" sounds.

We touched on Yaisel Sierra, who looks like a gamble for the Dodgers, though at the same time fits with their overall plan and philosophy. We talked about Alex Anthopoulos moving his family from Toronto to Los Angeles to join the Dodgers front office, and what it means to have him aboard here.

Other items included Tuesday's pair of minor trades, and real-time reaction as some of the Rams-to-LA news was breaking on Tuesday.

Plus, what is Ricky's reaction to Joe Girardi naming Aroldis Chapman the closer before spring training begins in about a month?

Then, Alex Campos, the editor of Dodgers' Way joins the show to look at how the Dodgers have done this offseason. While they lost Zack Greinke to Arizona, they have added the likes of Scott Kazmir and Kenta Maeda to the rotation. Plus, this week, they added Alex Anthoupoulous to the front office. Dodgers pitchers lost and pursued, plus Christmas songs & movies

    in Sports

After a one-week break, Jacob Burch and I are back for a Christmas episode of the True Blue LA podcast. We talked about one free agent Japanese pitcher that got away (Hisashi Iwakuma) and another who is currently on the Dodgers' radar (Kenta Maeda), and the team's relative starting pitching needs.

With Christmas just two days away (we recorded on Wednesday), Jacob and I discussed our favorite Christmas movies (including Die Hard, which is really in its own special category) and our favorite Christmas songs, and we successfully outlined the exact dates when it is acceptable to play Christmas music.

And as always, we answered questions as well.

Tuesday Night Titans -w/Xanman and PEN15 (Nov. 2nd): NXT R-Evolution Preview

    in Wrestling

Your Tuesday Night Titans are back, and this week we discuss the next “special event” from NXT on the WWE Network. The main event of NXT champion Adrien Neville defending the title against Sami Zayn, and if Zayn does not win the title, he will leave NXT. On top of the that, there's a tag match between The Ascension and two of the hottest stars in the developmental roster who were international indy darlings only months ago, Hideo “KENTA” Itami, and Finn “Prince Devitt” Balor. I'm most looking forward to the debut of Kevin Owens, once known as Kevin Steen. A great night is expected Thursday, and you can listen to us on Tuesday give you a preview.

Of course we also continue our ECW Super Show reviews, this time covering Hostile City Showdown1996, and it's another solid outing from the Philadelphia promotion. I am truly impressed with the tag division in 1996 ECW, and this show displays how great a strong tag team division can be as a backbone to a promotion.

Join PEN15 and Xanman every Tuesday as we cover the best and worst of professional wrestling.
