Keith Robinson may be best known for his critically acclaimed role as “C.C. White” in the Academy Award winning feature film, Dreamgirls. In which he was directed by Bill Condon, and starred alongside Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Anika Noni Rose. In the musical, Robinson’s big solo, “Patience,” which he also performed live at the Academy Awards, earned him an Oscar nomination. In addition, Robinson’s voice is heard on six songs from the film’s soundtrack. Undoubtedly, Dreamgirls was a major benchmark in Robinson’s career, and since, he’s been poised to make his mark in music.
After Dreamgirls, Keith began recording his debut album, Utopia, which was released in 2009. Since then, he’s released several fan favorites including: “My Hustle” produced by RZA, “Simple Hello,” “Ride For You,” “Thirsty,” and “DJ Lady.” All of which are available on iTunes.
What would you do if you were imbued with superpowers?
This is the question posed to a group of high school students who are struck with the powers of telekinesis. This narrative interweaves the destiny of multiple teenagers and unravels the mystery of the object that granted them immortality. Clark, and his girlfriend, Sarah, naturally take to fighting crime when they form a group of superheroes. Other characters are more ambiguously motivated as they use their powers, not for the good of others, but solely to benefit themselves. They live comfortable lives until a mysterious stranger comes a’knocking. He knows their secret and will tell the world unless they pay up. And then there is the tragic fall of John, a young man with a heartbreaking back story whose lust for power and vengeance leads him on a downward spiral into madness.
“Ascension” is part one in an exciting and compelling new YA series that takes the superhero genre to new heights by asking how people truly respond to gaining unimaginable power. "Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
In this episode of the JRNYMN Conference Call with Sean Pronger, brought to you by JRNYMN Wear and C3 Development & Representation, former Calgary Flames forward and 1989 Stanley Cup Champion Colin Patterson joins Sean on the call to reminisce and share stories.
After attending Clarkson University, Colin signed with the Flames as a free agent and made his NHL debut in 1983. Joining a team that was on its way to becoming a powerhouse in the Campbell Conference and NHL, he shut down the opposition's best offensive players throughout his 10 seasons in the league. The Flames lost a hard-fought series in the Stanley Cup Final to the Montreal Canadians in 1986, but in 1989, it was Calgary's turn to lift the Cup in victory.
Did you know that the Flames were the only team to defeat the Montreal Canadians on Montreal Forum ice and win the Stanley Cup? Colin not only discusses those two Finals and the "ghosts of the Forum", he also reveals the answer to a 25-yeal old mystery - who made the mistake of pranking Lanny McDonald on one of his worst days?
A great episode for hockey fans that remember the Smythe Division of the 1980's, you don't want to miss this episode of the JRNYMN Conference Call!
Host Cyrus Webb welcomes actress Lynzey Patterson to Conversations LIVE to discuss not only her journey in the entertainment industry but what keeps her motivated.
Singer/songwriter/actor Keith Robinson was born in Kentucky, where he discovered his love of the arts at a young age. Singing took center stage in high school in Augusta, Georgia, and he was signed to a contract while attending the University of Georgia. Robinson was picked up by Motown Records and went on to perform with several top artists.
To put his career in high gear, Robinson decided to make a transition and move out to Los Angeles to further his singing career and try his hand at his other love, acting. His very first audition landed him the role of Joel Rawlings, the Green Ranger.
Keith was featured in the role of C.C. White, in the Hit "Dreamgirls", opposite Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy, Danny Glover, Jennifer Hudson, Anika Noni Rose, and Sharon Leal in Bill Condon's Academy Award-winning film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. His most recent feature film is the holiday-themed "This Christmas", where he is part of an ensemble cast that also includes Loretta Devine, Delroy Lindo, Idris Elba, Regina King and Chris Brown.
And August 1, 2014, Keith will be apart of the long awaited James Brown biopic, "Get On Up". Keith will be playing the role of Baby Roy, an original member of James Brown’s band. When Robinson is not on set, he's in the recording studio working on his album and music for major motion pictures and television.
