CO-HOST MARK CASTRILLON & SPECIAL GUEST ROCK STAR PHOTOGRAPHER MICHAEL STRIDER

    in Entertainment

SPECIAL GUEST IS ROCK STAR PHOTOGRAPHER MICHAEL STRIDER: Odds are, you’ve seen some of Michael Strider’s photos. Rather than channeling his passion for rock music into a guitar, Strider chose the camera, and for the past twenty years he has been shooting the likes of KISS, Bruce Springsteen, and Rihanna. Strider has found a way to capture the lifeblood of a rock star in the climax of his/her performance. Now he incorporates the same style in his ever-expanding portfolio of actors, musicians, and dignitaries, and as an employee of Getty Images. “Rock ‘n Roll is an essence that can be incorporated into any shoot, whether it is a rock star, supermodel or an actor,” Strider says. His singular aesthetic, and discerning method of photography has guaranteed him a lasting authority in the industry. - See more at: striderimage.com

SPECIAL COHOST WILL BE SINGER/SONGWRITER/PRODUCER MARK CASTRILLON  You can pretty much catch me playing somewhere around Southern California on any given night of the week. Diversity is the name of the game. From swanky Hotel Bars like the BEVERLY-WILSHIRE FOUR SEASONS, FOUR SEASONS (BEVERLY HILLS) or the “Famous” Polo Lounge inside the BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL, to beautiful Fashion Island in Newport Beach, I am what some would call the Acoustic Troubadour, a dying breed, with nothing but guitar and voice in hand. I have been requested and had the pleasure of performing for such such artists as; JOHNNY DEPP, JON BON JOVI, PAT MONAHAN (Train), KEITH URBAN, NICOLE KIDMAN, KENNY CHESNEY, WHITNEY HOUSTON, MICK FLEETWOOD (Fleetwood Mac), TOM CRUISE, KATIE HOLMES, KATHERINE HEIGL, PAULA ABDUL.

THEY BOTH JOIN TAKE 2 RADIO ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 27TH AT 9PM EASTERN TIME!

Book Discussion: Consensual (Club Imperial Book 1)

    in Books

Join host Debbie Workman, as she chats with Heidi Galbraith and Shirley Bastien for a discussion on the erotic romance,  Consensual (Club Imperial Book 1).  Also Joining the discussion will be Club Imperial author- Katherine Rhodes.

    The door read: Tessa Saint.
The truth was: she was nothing of the sort.
Even the name was a lie.

The woman most men fantasized about, a domme, a walking wet dream, and a master with a whip, Tessa Saint took charge and delivered on that fantasy. But Emmy--the woman Tessa became once she walked out the door of the club--was getting tired of the game. It was time to try the vanilla life.

    The door read: Nathaniel Walsh
The truth was: the man was an open book
    Emmy was interested in reading.

Nathaniel was instantly attracted to the enigma of Emmy, and against her better judgement she lead him into her world of whips and blindfolds, kink and domination. Having a man unencumbered with perceptions of her lifestyle, Emmy could not resist Nathaniel at the tip of her lash, his willing bedroom submission.

    The door read: Club Imperial
The truth was: Emmy hid there in the dark for a reason.
She should never have left the comfortable shadows.

Her secrets would find a way to the light- and it was only time until Emmy's lies were torn away and the truth revealed. Nathaniel wasn't ready for that.

    Neither was she.

AFTER PRISON: WHO'S THERE TO HELP?

    in Current Events

AFTER PRISON: WHO’S THERE TO HELP?

The United States incarcerates more of its citizens than any other nation, with a jail and prison population that increased from 200,000 to a staggering 2.3 million in the past 40 years.  But what happens to all those people after they serve their time and go back into their communities? Not surprisingly, the barriers to living after incarceration are staggering.  They face employment discrimination, denial of public benefits and food stamps for their families, exclusion from housing, and let’s not forget that even voting rights are taken away for some.

So what do we do to help make sure these folks don’t return to crime and are able to build their lives?

An organization called “Root and Rebound” in California is helping former prisoners with social support, legal services, education, training, advocacy and litigation.

Our guests this week are Katherine Katcher, founder and executive director of the program, who earned her law degree from UC Berkeley, and Sonja Tonnesen, deputy director at Root & Rebound.  These women will join us to talk about the problems and social issues surrounding those released from prison and share some of their successes and ideas for helping the formerly incarcerated rejoin society.

Her poetry and essays have appeared in Inkwell Magazine, as well as The Bedford Record Review, Northwords Press, Sensations Magazine, Pandaloon Press, Poetry Motel and Pink Elephant Magazine.
