Living in America - Interest of The African-American Consumer

    in Culture

Our Blog at www.Katara-Rhythm.com is entitled "Living in America- Freedom is measured by Economics.” That will be our shows theme. “African-Americans’ buying power is expected to reach $1.1 trillion by 2015.” This was a statement by Nielsen (9-22-2011) in their Consumer Report on the Power of the African-American Consumer. It was based upon data from couple of prominent consumer data-gathering organizations. Nielsen released a report on black consumption entitled Resilient, Receptive and Relevant in 2013. Those are the three key words we will look at on this show.  Listen to comments from “People on the Street” regarding the consumer Report. It’s a new segment for our show. We examine the performance of Chadwick Boseman in the James Brown bio film “Get on Up.” We will review a couple of cuts from Bill Banfield’s Jazz Urbane CD, “Playing with Other People’s Heads.” Rich Tycoon will drop by allowing us to debut his latest recording. And of course, there will be other surprises. Join us for what promises to be a real lively show.

    Gracie Hall-Hampton Arkansas 1917-1953

    in History

The following quote pretty much sums up Unchon-ni,  "I wanted to be the man my father thought I could become. Events and incidents facilitated my growth beyond my wildest dreams. By just being in that environment, there were some things I learned by accident. Unlike in high school, I was paying attention. That's why the memories are etched in my mind. If I close my eyes and lean my head back in a chair, I can still see the streets of Unchon-ni and smell that pungent odor that permeated the air of the village. It's as if I am standing there today."

    Hamp’s Corner of America
I like to take an in-debt view at the cultural habits of People of Color. Specifically, I’ll examine African-American’s reaction to the policies, politics, laws, and attitudes that affect our everyday lives within our country. With that in mind, my intention is to interpret and point out what led up to, how it was presented, or packaged for enactment, what it really means for black people, and to report their reaction. In my blog, articles, or books on these subject matters, I make sure to point out different perspectives or ways of looking at an issue that may not have been pointed out before. It is from this viewpoint that I write to generate discussion, a vigorous and lively debate, while reminding folk of where we come from and who we are in this great country of ours.

In short, I never want black Americans to concede to anyone in this world that the United States of America is not our country considering what it took for our ancestors to help build it. That’s the gist of my writings.
