  • Kat's Got The Lady at Greyhouse's Tongue

    in Culture

This weekly live show coming to you through The Magic Happens Radio Stream is called, 'Kat Got Your Tongue.' Kathleen Anne McCarthy (https://www.facebook.com/kathleen.a.mccarthy), 'Kat for short' will be interviewing different contributing writers to The Magic Happens Magazine (www.themagichappens.com) to find out what makes them tick and what makes them think. Coming at you every Saturday at 11:30 am eastern time.

And this week: Suzanne, otherwise known as The Lady At Greyhouse, is a 61 year old Kitchen /Hedge Witch.  Her ancestry in the Craft goes back several generations.

Suzanne and her husband Jack Retired to the Maritimes in 2011, leaving full-time jobs - and incomes - to build a life of simpler means..

It's been hard work and a challenge, but as each year goes by, they find that things fall into place and they're finding their niche in rural Nova Scotia, in a wee village called Bear River on the Fundy with 3 cats.

Suzanne has written poetry and stories over the years and has recently rediscovered the joy in sitting down and just "thinking out loud, as an author of The Magic Happens Magazine.

The things that she says she is passionate about are honour, justice and honouring the ways of our Ancestors.  It is in respecting and cherishing those old traditions that she finds joy and magick in even the most mundane of duties.

Her newest project is a book, which she hopes and plans to be ready to publish sometime in 2016...

While you are listening to the show, it would be wonderful if you would honor us by stopping by The Magic Happens facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/themagichappensnow) and giving us a like. Please enjoy the show!

    "MIKI HOWARD" - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW-THUR, APR 16, 2015 - 5:00PM PST

    in Music

Alicia Michelle "Miki" Howard (born September 30, 1960) is an American R&B/jazz singer and actress who had a string of Top 10 hit songs in the late-1980s and early-1990s, including "Baby, Be Mine", "Come Share My Love" and "Love Under New Management". "Ain't Nobody Like You" and "Ain't Nuthin' in the World" both peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B Singles chart.

Howard was born in Chicago, Illinois. She is the daughter of gospel singers Josephine Howard[1] of The Caravans, and Clay Graham of The Pilgrim Jubilees.[2][3] Howard's mother took her to the homes of various stars such as Aretha Franklin and Mavis Staples. At the age of nine, Howard and her family moved to Los Angeles where Howard's mother sung in a choir led by Caravans member and arranger James Cleveland. Among those who visited Howard's Los Angeles residence were Albertina Walker, Shirley Caesar, Billy Preston and Fats Domino. Howard was also influenced by jazz greats, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Nancy Wilson.

As a teenager, she often visited Maverick's Flat, a popular night club in Los Angeles, and a venue for music acts such as Rufus and Chaka Khan and Earth Wind & Fire, who were influential in her pursuit of a professional singing career.

At the age of 16, she performed in a teen pageant. After the show, she met singer Augie Johnson,[4] leader and member of R&B group Side Effect,[5] who happened to be in the audience and began working with Howard on music. Johnson charmed Howard and later chose her as the vocalist for the group.
