Write On the Edge w/ Kassanna Dwight

    in Books

    .

Join us as we shine the spotlight on the world’s sauciest authors dedicated to the realms of BDSM, GLBT, and Erotica. Write On the Edge (or WOE) asks the questions few dare, but we all want the answers to. It pushes the limits and creates the standard of steamy, intelligent converse. But keep in mind. . . it’s called “Write on the Edge” for a reason. (aka This show is not for the faint of heart!)

This weeks’s Featured Author is . . . Kassanna is a strong believer in love at first sight and happily ever afters. After meeting her husband in November and marrying him three months later in February the two have survived and mostly enjoyed every adventure life has thrown their way. Ten years, two children, a couple of dogs and a wild turkey that came out the woods and somehow adopted them – later- the adventure continues. Writing has always been her passion but fate sometimes has other roads that must first be taken . Navigating the road less traveled was not only unexpected but in the end extremely rewarding. Her books are mainly contemporary romance but she has delved into the paranormal and plans on expanding into other areas as the ideas come to her. Right now she is enjoying life and seeing her work come into fruition make it that much more pleasurable especially when her books make others smile. Kassanna wouldn’t have it any other way.

Kiler Davenport Live: Interview with Sean Patrick McGraw

    in Country Music

Call it Irish grit. “If you grew up where I grew up,” McGraw recalls, “you were automatically hyphenated either Irish, Polish, or Italian, and your dad worked in the mill, that was a given.” Hailing from a small steel industry town about 50 miles outside of Buffalo, New York, McGraw was raised on Hee-Haw (“We loved Conway Twitty, or at least his haircut”) and rough games of hockey and football. Small for his age and showing little athletic promise, he gravitated towards music, and good thing: “If I’d have stuck with the sports I liked any longer I might have ended up getting my head taken off. We never wore pads, let alone helmets.” Instead, McGraw grew out his hair, picked up a cheap Japanese guitar, and at 13 started a rock band with friends, playing in bars a couple of nights a week—with a note from his mother in hand, in case the cops asked any questions.

As soon as he finished high school, McGraw hightailed it to Los Angeles with rock star dreams and a country sensibility. Wearing out records by Dwight Yoakam and Steve Earle, and “digging through stacks of junk at the Pasadena flea market looking for old Buck Owens and Johnny Cash on vinyl,” he developed his own unique hard-core hillbilly sound.

It’s a crazy life, and McGraw looks upon it with bemused satisfaction in “My So Called Life,” reflecting, “Some days I own this town, other days it shoots me down/Always I’m still hanging round, holdin’ on to hope.” Expertly depicting the driving pace of his “Honky Tonk Life,” McGraw stubbornly continues to hope: “I could quit all this road stuff, go back to my real job, put in a straight 9 to 5/But I love the neon, I love the people, and I love the Honky Tonk Life.”

    March 25: Too Sweet

    in Sports

We are now at the sweetest time of madness filled year. Mike "the Buzz-saw" Asti and George "the Howitzer" Gerbo discuss the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 matchups. What have been the storylines that brought us to this point?

Is the idea a conferences depth and quality is dependent on how far teams advance actually overblown? Did some early round upsets expose incorrect seeding? Mike and George banter about if SMU got screwed in their loss to UCLA or have only themselves to blame.

Sixteen will become eight. Which teams will advance? What is the mindset of an undefeated Kentucky, trying to make history? How does Tom Izzo manage to take Michigan State on deep runs through March seemingly out of nowhere so often?

While the college kids keep getting asinine, there's some new developments in the NBA. Derrick Rose might be back (eye roll). Dwight Howard is back. And who will emerge as the real MVP? Does Russell Westbrook not get enough credit for his true value, despite his recent trible-double streak? Could Dwight Howard's return end up hurting James Harden's chances?

The war between the Minnesota Vikings and Adrian Peterson makes its presence felt yet again.

How sweet it is to conquer? Just ask the Howitzer and Buzz-saw, as they conquer sports radio, one day, at a time....
