Talked about the “comment uproar” regarding the raising of the Hawaiian Kingdom flag at UH Hilo. And the post by Mary Alice Ka’iulani Milham about those comments. And how it may be a very positive sign for the re-blossoming of the Kingdom of Hawaii.

You Walk in the Truth (3 John 1:2-8)

    in Christianity

    TEXTS

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. For I was very glad when brethren came and testified to your truth, that is, how you are walking in truth. I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.

Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the brethren, and especially when they are strangers; and they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. For they went out for the sake of the Name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. Therefore we ought to support such men, so that we may be fellow workers with the truth.

    DICTIONARIES

The second epistle is addressed to an individual woman. One who had children, and a sister and nieces, is clearly indicated. According to one interpretation she is the Lady Electa, to another, the elect Kyria, to a third, the elect Lady. The third epistle is addressed to Caius or Gaius. He was probably a convert of John and a layman of wealth and distinction, in some city near Ephesus.

The object of John in writing the second epistle was to warn the lady to whom he wrote against abetting the teaching known as that of Basilides and his followers, by perhaps an undue kindness displayed by her toward the preachers of the false doctrine.

The third epistle was written for the purpose of commending to the kindness and hospitality of Caius some Christians who were strangers in the place where he lived. It is probably that these Christians carried this letter with them to Caius as their introduction.
