    LESMA Team Discusses Tamir Rice

    in Current Events

One year ago, police were called to a park in Cleveland with reports of a 'black male waving a pistol'. That black male was 12 year old, 5' 7", 195 lb Tamir Rice. Eyewitness reports are clear that Tamir Rice was reaching for his gun when he was shot and killed by police. What nobody on the scene knew was that the gun he was waving was an airsoft BB gun with the safety markings removed.
The media is playing up this story again as the anniversary date of the event just passed. David and the team are going to discuss this case in depth and what we as LESMA and Blue Justice listeners can do about it.

Why Communism Is It Justice for the People ?

    in Education

We will look into the policies of communism and further prove that communism is Biblical. We will see who really loses and who gains in a communist system. The propaganda of the western countries have distorted the view of communism in the minds many people. We will prove that communism is JUSTICE. Many will say that there will not be any class systems in Heaven, many will say that , yes, in heaven there will be no rich and poor, some people who have and others who don't have. But they say that this will happen in the clouds !!! The religion of the west has taught the people that the equity of Heaven will be way off in the clouds beyond the stars, but what the people are looking for in the sky, that system will be on this earth and it is called COMMUNISM, it is the system of utopia, the Bible calls it new Jerusalem. We can prove these claims, call and ask your questions.

Research Methods in Criminal Justice – Theory and Philosophy

    in Training

Brought to you by The American Public Safety Training Institute (TAPSTI) www.tapsti.org, this 2 hour session will review the work of Dr. Peter Kraska and Dr. W. Lawrence Neuman in their excellent textbook entitled “Criminal Justice and Criminology Research Methods” (2012, 2nd ed.).  This first seminar helps answer some basic questions about knowledge, how it is constructed and what it has to do with criminal justice studies. We have questions we ask every day, departments across the country need research done, but who is to say what research needs to be done and how it is to be done to satisfy the needs of that Chief, Warden, Regional Administrator, or other agency manager who needs to make serious and accurate decisions based on your work? This seminar introduces the concepts of epistemology, positivist social science, interpretive social science, and critical social science. Then we go into the parts of a theory and variables in research before expanding to the development of a theory.  The latter half of the seminar reviews Grounded Theory, Temporal Order, Association, Types of Variables, etc. and then we finish up with Hypothesis and errors in reasoning.

    Social Justice: Value of Education

    in Current Events

College, professional, and graduate schools currently cost more than ever. The cost of higher education has surged more than 538% since 1985 while the consumer price index has increased by  121%. Higher education is 4.5 times as expensive today as it was 30 years ago. There are people today who went into debt for higher education who are having their social security retirement checks garnished for student loan repayment. Among 22-year-old degree holders who found jobs in the past three years, more than half were in roles not requiring a college diploma, The young and educated are settling for jobs they wouldn’t have accepted a decade ago,

Going to a four year school is supposed to be the foundation from which you create a future, not the transaction that crushes hopes and places you in debt that few can pay off in 10 years. What has been missing in the past was a way to get feedback or collaborate on ideas while studying on-line. Successful students of today are people who explore many things, tinkerers and fixers who see solutions to problems that other people do not see. Among the leaders in “free education “ is Khan Academy which has a unique teaching style with quality content and a wide breadth of topics; providing bite-sized, easily-understood lessons, and providing the positive feedback that keeps the student coming back .

Students are turning to “self-study” programs blossoming on-line. Some are taking the bare minimum number of classes required by a “big name” university, at the cheapest price, then take educational and enrichment courses through free non-degree online courses .  Such students are choosing to build their own educational curricula.
