One of the most stylish and creative lead bassists of this wonderful time in C-jazz is the rising star Julian Vaughn whose fluid bass runs and compositions always seem to hit that special nerve in you that’s reserved for the smooth groove. Here on his latest released,Limitless, he continues to serve it up in abundance.
Bringing in a few luminaries from his Trippin N Rhythm/Cutmore Records family (saxmen Lebron and Darren Rahn, keyboardist Nicholas Cole, and flutist Althea Rene) along with saxmen Marcus Anderson and Elan Trotman, the bassist loads up with heavy grooves and romantic seductions.
The up-tempo but easy ridin’ lead track “Ride Along” firmly complements tracks like the energetic “Initiate” and calls a cool timeout for the fluid entrance of the more laid back romance-laden offering “All to Myself” and the mid-tempo R&Bish “Ecstacy.”
Vaughn’s wonderful tribute to the late great Wayman Tisdale shows how much of an impact the jovial and greatly talented Tisdale had on Vaughan.
We all love a great up-tempo jam, and Vaughn certainly offers his share here, but his skill with crafting slow- to mid-tempo tracks with tons of melody like the previously mentioned “All to Myself,” “I Will,” and “Say Yes” is equally as powerful and full of charm.
Here is a bassist who is doing it the right way…feeling the genre and the groove and how it moves him and his music to always strive for excellence. As the album title could imply, his potential is truly Limitless. – Ronald Jackson, The Smooth Jazz Ride.

Saving Julian is a darkly comic journey into the sad, strange world of ex-gay ministry. The novel tells the story of Paul Drucker, a 58-year-old psychology professor and part-time preacher. Author of Saving Our Boys from the Gay Menace, Paul is much in demand on the ex-gay lecture circuit, sharing the heterosexual gospel with those in need. As he tells his audiences, “there’s no such thing as a gay man. There are only men with unmet homoemotional love needs. And this can be fixed.” But when Paul is caught with Julian, a 21-year-old “escort” he found online, he knows his world is about to fall apart. In a world of Larry Craig and Ted Haggard, Saving Julian offers an irreverent and poignant take on the lies, hypocrisies, and downright cruelty of those who think love is a thing to be cured.

#MyRealTalkRadio interviews Blackbird Star: Julian Walker and Singer/Songwriter: Tyra B.
Rookie actor Julian Walker is the breakout star in the poignant new film, "Blackbird." The coming-of-age drama, based on the 1986 novel by Larry Duplechan, tells the story of Randy Rousseau, a saintly choirboy in small-town America struggling to reconcile his sexuality and conflicting religious beliefs.
Born and raised in Petersburg, VA, Tyra knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. She started singing and dancing at talent shows in elementary school, and spent much of her free time practicing her craft. Her hard work paid off when, in 2004, at yet another one of these talent shows, a DJ from nearby Richmond was in the audience and decided to put her single, "Country Boy," on his radio show. Before too long she was a local celebrity, helped also by the success of her second single, "Still in Love," which led to an opening spot on Destiny's Child summer 2005 tour. Soon, she signed to Warner Bros., with plans made for her debut album, Introducing Tyra (which included the song "Get No Ooh Wee"), to be released. It wasn't until 2008, however, after yet another successful single, "Giving Me a Rush," hit the airwaves and television, that the singer, who was now calling herself Tyra B, issued her true debut, Past Due.
