My three girls have grown up with me working in the service business in Huntsville since 1981. We began work on AM Booth's Lumberyard in 2007. It is one of our greatest pleasures to be a part of your special event; weddings, family reunions, birthday parties, fund raisers, retirement office parties or just friends in the neighborhood getting together.
An ambitious young woman, born, bread, and raised in Dallas, TX, we introduce to you M’Hogany. From a very young age, she’s put thoughts to paper and let her creative side roam free. “I wasn’t like most girls keeping journals or diaries. Whatever I thought, I put to paper.” With a few poems suggested for publishing in her early childhood, she decided to pursue other venues of artistry. “Music is my life. I eat, sleep, and breathe all things musical. You can catch me singing almost anywhere.” As she embarks on the road of literature, she delves back into writing putting it all on paper. Expect future works from this young writer and keep an ear at the ready as she embarks on her musical and literal endeavors.
Aaron Abernathy, professionally known as AB, is a multi-talented entertainer - musician, singer, songwriter, and producer. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, AB comes from a long-line of historical pioneers including Civil Rights Leader, Rev. Ralph David Abernathy and student of the same high school music program as the late R&B great Gerald Levert.
AB's detailed-oriented passion for the craft is influenced heavily by the unstoppable showmanship of James Brown; the supreme vocal talents of Prince and Marvin Gaye; the inspired lyricism of Stevie Wonder; and the fearless originality of George Clinton.
His professional music pursuits began on the historical steps of Howard University, where he formed the band AB and The Souljourners and developed a buzz on the local DC music scene with the release of his self-produced debut album Lyrically Inclined. After graduating from Howard, they embarked on a US Tour. The band's talent and showmanship style caught the eye of several artists, most notable Eric Roberson and Slum Village. Eric Roberson featured AB in NYC based showcases and 2009 single "Howard Girls". Slum Village hired AB to be their musical director from 2005-2010, revamping their performances from the traditional DJ and Emcee format to live band hip-hop experience. He also was featured on the single "Dance" from their 2010 album Villa Manifesto.

The Wayne County Self Help Organization will host their fall cattle field day on Monday September 29, 4pm at Richard and Ruthie Farm. This farmstead is situated in the tri-corners of Jasper, Clarke and Wayne Counties in the Hamlet of Eucutta, MS. Richard said on “this farm, my parents raised a family of two girls and four boys. We worked as a family unit producing cotton, corn, vegetables, and trees to earn income. My parents exemplified strength and honesty in maintaining this farm. We are thankful for this opportunity to continue my parents’ legacy. Today, we are raising cattle, hay, vegetables and managing forestland”. The Carters are members of Wayne County Self Help Organization which provides services for small farmers. They have received technical assistance to enhance their farm enterprise and other valuable information. The Carters decided to sign-up for conservation practices through NRCS’s (EQIP) Environmental Quality Incentive Program in December 2010. They qualified for numerous practices including heavy use pad, water troughs, cross fence, pasture improvements, and corral. “These practices have added income and reduced input costs in managing our forages and corral provides safety in vaccinating and loading cattle according to Richard.
Join us for 'Monday Morning Joy' 2 10:00am for real life situations and challenges. One of our blog contributors (D. Dudley) shared in a recent blog post the following: "It can happen anywhere, at any time, and it is important to make sure all girls and even boys are educated on the dangers of it. Young girls today are not aware that human trafficking is growing and in some cases improving its craft. Some girls may not even be aware of how close human trafficking might be to where they live. As our society evolves and as people become more corrupt, human trafficking has become more present. As unfortunate as it is, while many girls think that it won’t happen to them, anything is possible in the world we live in today. Young girls today don’t realize that they put themselves in dangerous situations every day. Men AND women in this world take advantage of young girls and while someone may seem like they have the best intentions, often times they don’t.
We live in a time where danger lurks around every corner. As unfortunate as it is, women today have to be cautious in everything that they do. While it is okay and praised for a female to be independent, women should not mistake being ignorant to danger for being independent. No one is saying that women today should live in fear but to live with caution. It’s true that dangerous situations can happen at any moment no matter how cautious you are, but the more cautious you are the lower the risk of it happening to you."
Join us as we talk about our part to eradicate this social ill and others.
