As the Dark Underbelly of Leadership series continues, it wouldn't be complete without a program on Self-Awareness.
According to Chris Lowney, former Jesuit and bestselling author of “Heroic Leadership,” leaders thrive by understanding who they are and what they value, by becoming aware of unhealthy blind spots or weaknesses that can derail them, and by cultivating the habit of continuous self-reflection and learning.
Easier said than done. So, the question becomes, "How am I showing up?" and how does it impact my reputation, my success, and those who choose to follow or co-create with me?
We are a culture obsessed with celebrity so the idea of a leader who puts the success of the organization and those with whom s/he works ahead of him or herself, well, it just doesn't get much press.
Hosts Linda Lombardo and Joss Rowlands take a deep dive into self-awareness from the perspective of leadership and share the "extra" dimension that only self-awareness can bring to a leader and ultimately, her or his success.
The Voice of Leadership offers part two of its series - The Dark Underbelly of Leadership.
This is a seven part series that will air over the next seven months. We'll explore topics such as; Exactly what is Leadership?, What is the Dark Underbelly?, What Saboteurs hang out in the Dark Underbelly, How important is self-knowledge and awareness for leaders, What are the power elements of Leadership and how are they best employed. We will talk about true and authentic leadership vs. manipulation and power mongering. Along the way we want to bring you personal stories of leaders who have pushed the edge of their leadership, danced through the dark underbelly, dealt with their saboteurs and emerged from their experiences - stronger leaders.
Part Two of this series is titled, SABOTEURS: What are they? Why are they? What to do about them?
This program features VOL host, Linda Lombardo, and coach, consultant Joss Rowlands.
Ellee Ven’s experience is a perfect example to those interested in paving their own way.
Born Jessica Lazaro Kunin, this Spanish, Greek, Italian, Russian and German songstress confesses, “It’s a tough business, but in the interest of creating something unique, I keep creating.”
ellee ven’s writing is an admitted indulgence, fusing dance jams and ballads created with veteran and up-and-coming producers, such as Reggie Dozier (Outkast, Joss Stone & Justin
Timberlake), DJ Swamp, Antony Lee, DJ Solange, Trypsin & Prodéje.
There has been no attempt at being “genre specific” as an artist, but instead a conscious attempt to stretch out and try different ideas without yielding to commercial pressures or trends . With this formula, she has managed to hone in on a genre all her own called “groovetonics”.
ellee ven's greatest passion remains the production of her annual charity event she founded called GIVEINTOTHEGROOVE.

How are women portrayed on book covers and movie posters? Why do they have to be portrayed as “ideal” woman? Why are women “underdressed” in comic books? Is making a strong female character only putting a man in a skirt? How do you show the real woman?
