THE CANARY with Jacqueline T. Moore

    in Books

THE CANARY with Jacqueline T. Moore

    RECIPE FOR ADVENTURE

    1 spunky widow

    1 hateful church lady

    2 sailors & 1 checkerboard

    5 little darlin’s + I smarty stinker

Add 1 apron pocket full of jewels

Mix well and bake in the 1890’s Galveston heat

Myra Gallaway, a young widow with five children, supports her family by walking the wharves of Galveston selling homemade sweets. She never imagined she’d be joining forces with husband-hating church society queen, Julia Jameson. Myra’s apron pockets are soon filling up with the unspendables man smuggling sailor friends Sure Foot and Black Jack need to move. The Klondike gold fields are calling hapless dreamers and the boys are all about obliging them, yet everybody knows that a sailor cannot spend what he does not earn.

Some people call Jacqueline T. Moore a snowbird because she spends so much time writing in South Carolina. Not so. She loves the Ohio winters with all the ice and snow. She says, “Traveling south in the summer makes me a sunflower…and a beach bum!” As a writer and educator, Jacqueline surrounds herself with words. She savors the sounds and sense of letters put together to create a lasting memory. Her debut novel, THE CANARY, is inspired by a most beautiful yellow diamond that rests on her finger and the whispered family secrets about how it got there.

Please visit her at www.jacqueline-t-moore.com and on Facebook at Jacqueline T. Moore for conversations and updates on her next book, THE CHECKERBOARD.

    Frat House Saturday #33

    in Sports

We’re just five days away from the NFL Draft and the rumors, speculation and ruminating are running rampant . . . And, that’s where Frat House Mike starts on another “relaxed” Frat House Saturday program!

We had a fascinating and compelling chat on Thursday’s Frat House Sports Show with our buddy Greg Arias, the publisher of TitanRedZone.com and broadcaster on WHIN 1010-AM in Tennessee about the possibility of the Philadelphia Eagles drafting Marcus Mariota with the Titans #2 pick. This is a MUST listen!

We got chatting with Jon Blayne about the NL East-leading New York Mets on our Frat House Sports’ Clean-Up Hitters program – that’s right, the METS! We couldn’t help though bringing up the New Yankees and Alex Rodriguez as well.

Brandon Warne, a MLB Baseball Insider and contributor to KTWN 96.3-FM also joined us to chat about the Minnesota Twins and we found ourselves commiserating about bad baseball teams.

Saturday’s are a great day to catch up on all the best of the Frat House Sports Radio Network, and THIS is a Frat House Saturday program you must hear . . . and, give Frat House Mike a call at 347 – 826 – 9964 . . . because, he’s all by himself, and needs someone to talk to!

    Jon Guerra debuts newest CD

    in Lifestyle

New singer/songwriter JON GUERRA, on Provident/Essential Records, will be releasing his debut album titledLITTLE SONGS, on April 21

Guerra is steadily being recognized as one of today’s most gifted, intellectual and groundbreaking singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalists.  While diligently studying Bob Dylan, Rich Mullins, Sufjan Stevens and Rufus Wainwright;  influential poets Emily Dickinson and George Herbert;  and novelist Marilynn Robinson, Guerra has spent his entire artistic journey switching between performing in The Vertical Church Band, and solo life.  He has opened for such artists as .fun, Plain White T’s and Paper Route, and has also written jingles for massive companies such as Comcast, Chase Bank and Allstate Insurance.  The Chicagoan brings intelligence, passion and originality to every angle of LITTLE SONGS, which shows just as many shades of a timeless troubadour as someone with a truly revolutionary approach.
