    Interview with John Conlee

    in Music

Country legend JOHN CONLEE's success began in the late 1970s. His first release “Back Side Of Thirty” didn't climb the charts too high. Three more singles also met with a minimum success, although they all charted. But in March of 1978, the label released “Rose Colored Glasses,” a song John co-wrote, which became a huge hit as well as becoming his signature song. In January of 1979, the label re-released “Back Side of Thirty” which went on to become a No. 1 record, and the hits continued. The Conlee hit list includes songs like “Lady Lay Down,” “Friday Night Blues,” “Miss Emily’s Picture,” “Busted,” and “I Don’t Remember Loving You.”

He's been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1981 and was inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall Of Fame in 2006.

John has just released an album called Classics 2 - available at iTunes - featuring many of his big hits. His latest single is called "Walkin' Behind The Star."

Slapping your child should not earn a mother of the year award a card perhaps

    in Current Events

Join us today 5:30 cst as we raise the subject:

Slapping your child should not earn a mother of the year award but a Mother’s day card perhaps……

What is the reason for celebrating the Baltimore mother who is seen publicly disciplining her 16 year old  son is has this type of parental behavior become a thing of the past?

Do you know of any mothers who would have responded in the same manner as Toya Graham?

With such positive reaction by many media outlets as to the appropriateness of this mother's reaction what message are we sending to parents about methods of discipline?

  • Audio Book, Black Abolitionists chp 9 Traitors and Loyalists By Benjamin Quarles

    in Education

Dating from its origin, the Negro press printed the names of black informants,Freedom's Journal listing those of Moses Smith, formerly of Baltimore, and Nathan Gooms of New York, in its issue of November 7, 1828. The mere appearance of these names in the columns of the weekly was a sufficient deterrent to die other informers whose identity the editors threatened to reveal. When Martin R, Delany was editor of The Black Underground  Dr. Martin R. Delaney, founder of the Pittsburgh Mystery in 1842 and later was co-editor of the North Star.

In August 1858 two runaways were betrayed by John Brodie, who had promised to assist them in returning to Covington, Kentucky, to effect the liberation of relatives. Brodie's treachery nearly cost him his life.  He was seized by a group of Negroes, who proceeded to give him three hundred blows with a paddle, a stroke for each dollar he was supposed to have received from the slave-catchers. Only the presence of the influential Henry Highland Garnet saved Brodie from further punishment. The badly mauled informer delivered himself to the police authorities, to be placed in jail for safe-keeping

GOSPEL INSIDER HOSTED BY PROPHETESS LYNNETTE LONG

    in Religion

TO LI VE IS TO DIE... When you think that you about to die turn around and  live!  See, we can sabotage ourselves, penalties ourselves and even kill ourselves if we don't take heed to the word of God. Trusting God with your life is not always easy but it is the thing to do according to his word in. Proverb 3:5-6. What does it mean to live? It sure doesn't  mean do what you want to do, by disregarding the things that God has laid out for us to do... we must realize that it matters where our souls go.

Question: "What does the Bible mean by 'dying to self'?"

Answer: The concept of “dying to self” is found throughout the New Testament. It expresses the true essence of the Christian life, in which we take up our cross and follow Christ. Dying to self is part of being born again; the old self dies and the new self comes to life (John 3:3-7). Not only are Christians born again when we come to salvation, but we also continue dying to self as part of the process of sanctification. As such, dying to self is both a one-time event and a life long process.

LIVE  knowing that when you die to your flesh you are santifiied for the Master's use.Philippians 1:21
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

  • Blacks & The Cops

    in Politics

    America is a funny land.

Not funny as in "ha ha," but funny as in strange.

So strange that even though cops have historically been at odds with Blacks, people try to pretend that there is something else going on in a so-called justice system that sometimes seems like it persecutes just us.

But anyone who has lived in a poor neighborhood with their eyes and mind open realizes that the "Thin Blue Line," is typically erected between the "haves" and the "have nots," frequently doling out abuse to the "have nots."

And, the "have nots" don’t always get their day in court when there is abuse, which is why periodically, the people speak in the loudest voice possible—riots.

Ferguson spoke in that loud voice and now, Baltimore is speaking as well.

Perhaps no city has the reputation for rioting that Los Angeles has earned.

This April 29, marked the 23rd anniversary of the notorious LA Riots.

And it is business as usual, from Rodney King to Micheal Brown and from Eric Garner to Freddy Gray, countless Black men and women in between, as well as throughout American history.
