John Drew Barrymore is the child of two actors, John Barrymore Jr (AKA John Drew Barrymore) and Cara Williams, a film and TV actress active from the 1940s through the 1960s.
John started writing poetry around 1990 inspired by the poets at the weekly "Poetry in Motion "readings in Los Angeles. This was the very same poetry series Wordbeat host Yvonne de la Vega began her life as a Poet.
Having known each other for close to 25 years, they've enjoyed the same upbringing in the poetry world as one another, spawning their work from a time when many in Los Angeles became inspired by a looming poetry resurgence of the early 90's L.A.,
John has continued to write since that time; poetry, prose and an autobiography.
He worked as an actor from 1971 through 1980 deeply involved with Shakespeare on stage while working in TV and in films, and later in the 1990s as a voice over performer.
He is a Los Angeles Poet and has also been working as an acting coach as well as a private speech tutor specializing in the acquisition of the standard American accent.
We're jazzed to have him here on WORDBEAT for our precious and worthless banter, all in the name of The Word and the Beat.
Welcome John Barrymore! Bring a lunch!
Holland was born and raised in Hollywood, California, and currently lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was not uncommon for the entire clan to spend holidays, birthdays and other important life events together. Holland’s father is a jazz musician. He plays a haunting and beautiful alto sax. As a child Holland used to love watching his father play. Some of his fondest memories are of nights spent in all-night jazz clubs till the wee hours of the morning watching him pour every inch of his soul into his glorious sax. His mother, Keithe, is an avid reader. Holland’s childhood was filled with jazz, rock and roll, art and an endless stream of books. But there was also his love of baseball. Holland’s dad signed him up for the Hollywood Little League when he was eight years old. Baseball came easily to him. Hailing down flies beneath huge summer skies, watching the ball explode off his bat and disappear into a tiny dot. He soon learned that this was a game filled with poetry and miracles, an inch being the difference between failure and success.

Leadership. It is a word that has less and less meaning in mainstream American society these days, and is often confused with "Management," which it is not. Leadership is the uncommon virtue and skillset which allows one person to convince and guide others towards a common goal. In no way a science, Leadership is nevertheless a craft and skill which does have elements which can be taught. This is particularly important in military organizations, where Leadership is often a life or death matter in combat. However, Leadership is also vital to the establishment and sustainment of chains of command, without which any military organization will collapse upon itself and be destroyed. And while Leadership is more of an art form than simply a set of rules to follow, defining it is often difficult. Therefore, one finds Leadership as a topic being discussed in professional military journals across the globe, in almost every written language. One such journal is the U.S. Naval Institute (USNI) Proceedings which, since 1883, has provided naval-minded individuals with a open forum to express ideas, opinions, and thoughts regarding a variety of topics, especially Leadership in the sea services.
To learn more how Leadership is defined, join best-selling author, historian, documentary filmmaker and host John D. Gresham (@greshamj01) for Military Monday (#MilitaryMonday on the Writestream Radio Network (@Writestream)) at 1 PM EDT. His guess this week is U.S. Naval Institute Press (@USNI_Books) editor Thomas J. Cutler, who is managing the creation of USNI's new "Wheel Book" series. One of these is Naval Leadership, edited by Cutler, a collection of Proceedings essays on the subject by a variety of well-known naval leaders.
Dr Bash and John Dorle will be our guest.
Se will discuss what the ve looks at C and P exams .

Steve Harvey is one of the best of the best. Some of his advice has been:
“All I'm telling you to do is to be smart about it. Know that if this man isn't looking for a serious relationship, you're not going to change his mind just because you two are going on dates and being intimate. You could be the most perfect woman on the Lord's green earth-you're capable of interesting conversation, you cook a mean breakfast, you hand out backrubs like sandwiches, you're independent (which means, to him, that you're not going to be in his pockets)-but if he's not ready for a serious relationship, he going to treat you like sports fish.”

“If you pray about it don't worry about it. If you're going to worry about it don't pray about it.”
Two words: Peyton Manning. Two more words: HELP HIM! Last year, the Denver Broncos were in the top 5 in the NFL in shotgun formation plays. If you ask Rocket, something needs to be done about that. For starters, this team perhaps...maybe...can actually, you know, run the football. That would be a big bonus to an aging quarterback. Two years ago, this team was in the Super Bowl. A Year later, they were one & done in the postseason. Out is John Fox & in is Gary Kubiak, a former Broncos assistant now head coach. He has a good offense to work from. This offense will still be good...well, the passing game anyway. The running backs have to stay healthy & effective for this team to win another Super Bowl. For Manning, I'm certain one ring isn't enough. I also know that being eliminated in the playoffs last yeat by his former team has to be mind-numbing as well. Many coaching chages took place this offseason with just this team alone. I'm anxious to see what this offensive line will look like. They traded Manny Ramirez to Detroit during the draft & now Ryan Clady is out for the year with a torn ACL. Will Peyton Manning have good enough protection? & how much does he have left to give? Tune in Tuesday morning June 2nd @ 9:30am in another installment of The Rocket Sports Breakdown in Rocket's 32 For 32 team coverage. Rocket Nation, hop on a horse & get ready for a power trip.
I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another. By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves]. John? ?13?:?34-35?
