Hiring happens slower and the pay could be a lot less when job seekers are in abundance and jobs are not. Times like these are known as an employers market. An employers market puts the employer in the drivers seat of a bus full of willing passengers. During a time of an employers market, job expectations that are unrealistics extends job search big time. There are some things you need to do differently to get back to a paycheck. Ask yourself, how old is old.
On this podcast, I discuss a lot of stupid things job hunters believe that needed to be changed so you get of your won way and find work faster.

Job search is difficult and using a script is a great way to assure you cover all necessary material everytime.
You can't fish from your sofa. You get the urge to fish, you prepare your gear, your clothing, decide where to go this time, you get up and get going. Nothing gets in your way. If you fish without bait, no bites because nothing is on the hook. In job search, there too you must be prepared. Don't expect to do your best if you don't have a plan to be successful in your every interaction.
Without a prepared plan in place you fail more than you succeed. With a plan, you know what worked and what didn't work. You scratch what didn't work. You try new things. Job Search Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Your past job title and salary was great. You had senority. You enjoyed the status of the job. Now you are jobless and this is now an employers market. You could or could not be worth all you earned in the past, but the past is the past. Expecting the same job title, salary, and statues in a new job could be what's hurting your opportunity for employment. When you go in expecting the world and you are offered a cubical it's understandable you may be disappointed. But this could be a company that will provide you with the things you desire in time, based on your performance. It could be this is the kind of company that invest in the workers rather than in the work environment itself. Review what you expect in a job. Decide what is and is not negotiable. Remember job expectations could be unreasonable in this employer's market and this could cause a longer job search, and limitied opportunities. The one thing that's true for you and everyone seeking work. The longer you search, the longer you are out of the job market, the more outdated your skills and your work history becomes, and the more you are assuring yourself you likely will not reach the life goals you set for yourself. Keep a work plan going. Change expectations as needed as you continue to advance your work life.
Job search is difficult but if that difficulty shows, you limit your job opportunities. Job search with pleasure. Look for pleasurable work. Work you want to be doing everyday. Look for work with reasonable wages. Look for work in locations you feel good about. Look for employee compatibility. You want to work where you are comfortable being around co-workers daily.
You have not because you ask not. When your job search includes things you like, you show more pleasure in your pursuit. When we do things we find pleasurable, time flies. Having time fly and getting paid as time flies is a piece of heave. Go! Job Search with pleasure.
Job Seekers all too often think they have all their ducks in a row. Thinking you can get the job (done), and getting the job (done) can be the biggest lie you have ever told yourself. Yes, you are educated. You worked the last 10 years and you was an exceptional employee. Well all that I would say is a plus for your resume. But unless you was a job finder, none of that is going to help you find someone willing to pay you a salary.
Job search is difficult. Make no bones about it. Job search is mind, body and time consuming. Job search is boring for most people. Job search is stressful. Job Search WorkShop will take the stress out of the job finding process. Our goal is to prepare you to get the job, based on your individual needs. We want you to tell us what you need and we will air that show for you.
Job search requires lots of things being covered if not daily, definitely weekly. As an employee you arrived at work and worked. You knew exactly what to do, when to do it and when to take a break.
Job search requires you to be the boss. You are no longer an employee in name nor in activities. You have to plan a strategy that will bring you the profit you desire. A job searcher can not keep the plans to get hired in their head and expect success, any more than a business owner could reap profits having all the plans for success in their mind rather than on paper.
