SORT BY Relevancy
A bleary-eyed Big Al and HookSlide spend another show talking about the Tigers' bullpen, ponder the pros and cons of the Joakim Soria deal along with the Joe Nathan and prospect fallout, ask how Detroit can 'win' the trade, debunk jinxes and revel in the glory that is Ryan Raburn's throwing arm.
Bless You Boys Podcast 121 was recorded July 25, 2014, has a running time of 73 minutes, and features Al Beaton and HookSlide.
Tigers acquire closer Joakim Soria from Rangers for prospects Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel.
Did the Tigers overpay for Soria?
Trading prospects is the equivalent of buying lottery tickets. You could hit big, but the odds are heavily slanted against you.
Are the Tigers scrapping their future with prospect heavy trades? Was the Soria trade a "screw the future" deal thanks to an octogenarian owner who wants a World Series win NOW?
Should the bullpen have been better addressed during this past off season?
Joe Nathan is still the closer. But for how long? Would Soria be best used in higher leverage situations earlier during a game?
How do we define "winning the trade?"
Fangraphs: Joakim Soria and the value of a postseason relief ace.
When Dave Dombrowski says it's 'highly unlikely" Joel Hanrahan pitches for Tigers, he's actually saying "Hanarahan will not pitch for Detroit in 2014."
Some things will never change, such as the Tigers' connection with Lakeland.
Debunking baseball voodoo: There are no such things as jinxes.
Ryan Raburn is gonna Ryan Raburn. Just ask Corey Kluber.
All that, plus tangents galore!
Tonight I welcome 670 The Score's Joe Ostrowski back to the program. We'll talk about the Bulls and other NBA teams making noise as the playoffs approach. Bears chairman George McCaskey spoke to the media yesterday about his decision to meet with newly acquired defensive end Ray McDonald, whose signing created quite a stir in Chicago. The Blackhawks continued their offensive struggles last night, falling to the irrelevant Philadelphia Flyers 4-1. And the Sweet 16 kicks off tonight, I've got more matchup previews for you! All this and your phone calls at (347) 327-9183.

The Chicago Bears added two defensive ends to their roster on Tuesday. One of them may be a distraction to a team that had locker room issues last season. The Blackhawks bounced back from an ugly loss to the Dallas Stars over the weekend with a 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Monday night, thanks to the continued strength of Corey Crawford in net. Jonathan Toews and Coach Joel Quenneville both hit career milestones with the win. The Bulls clinched a playoff spot with their over the Charlotte Hornets Monday night, with rookie Nikola Mirotic again leading the way with solid minutes off the bench. Joakim Noah has been playing the point-center position very well in Derrick Rose's absence. Should Tom Thibodeau think about using Noah to run the offense when Derrick returns? Plus, my bracket for the NCAA tournament is still alive, but certainly not perfect. I'll give a preview of two of the upcoming Sweet 16 matchups. All this and your phonecalls! (347) 327-9183.

I'm breaking down the first games of the NCAA tourney and offering my pick to win it all. I'll give you a hint: it's not Kentucky. The Bears remain fairly quiet on the free agency market, but have their eye on a certain running back in the draft. The Bulls got a much needed win over the Indiana Pacers last night, as rookie Nikola Mirotic continues to shine. Meanwhile, Tom Thibodeau vocalizes his grievances regarding Joakim Noah's minutes restriction. The Blackhawks got big wins over two New York teams on back to back nights, and Corey Crawford is playing like a man possessed. All this and your phone calls @ (347) 327-9183. BECAUSE CHICAGO LOVES SPORTS.
The Chicago Bears have slowed their roll on the free agent market, which means increasing speculation regarding the upcoming NFL draft. What position do the Bears still desperately need? The Chicago Bulls meanwhile, have lost 5 of their last 6 and look utterly lost and hopeless without three of their key players. What can be done to salvage the season and their spot in the standings? The Blackhawks take on the New York Islanders tonight, having won two straight games where they finally got some production from their power play. Several players that had gone missing on the score sheet showed up. Can the Blackhawks keep it rolling without Patrick Kane? All this and your phone calls (347) 327-9183!

Tonight I'll give my take on the recent additions the Bears have made in the free agency market, as well as some other big names changing teams around the NFL. The Bulls ended their 3-game losing streak with a 104-95 win over the lowly Philadelphia 76ers despite being even more short-handed than usual. The Blackhawks visit the Arizona Coyotes tonight, hoping to end their recent scoring struggles against Antoine Vermette's old team that saw its defense lose two key pieces before the NHL trade deadline. Are the Blackhawks still alive in the race for the Central Division title? My math says yes. IF they find ways to score. All that and your phonecalls @ (347) 327-9183! BECAUSE CHICAGO LOVES SPORTS.
Tonight I am joined by David Haugh, sports columnist for the Chicago Tribune and Co-Host of The Kap&Haugh Show on CSN and WGNplus.com. I'll get David's take on the Wrigley renovation delays, the rumors regarding Brandon Marshall's future in a Chicago Bears uniform, and potential playoff rematches for both the Bulls and Blackhawks. I'll also break down the Bulls' Tuesday night victory over the Washington Wizards and give my take on the budding rivalry between these two teams. Open phone lines for YOU! (347) 327-9183. BECAUSE CHICAGO LOVES SPORTS.
In a matter of hours, Chicago went from having two title-contending teams to...TBD, but it doesn't look good. Tonight I'm analyzing the impact that injuries to Derrick Rose and Patrick Kane will have on their respective teams, and where the Bulls and Blackhawks can go from here. Should the Bulls give up on Rose? Can the Blackhawks survive 12 weeks without Kane? Can either team bring in a player that comes close to replacing Chicago's stars? Which team can still make a playoff run? Times are tough for Chicago fans, but as they say in the theatre: the show must go on. I've got open phone lines for YOU! Call in @ (347) 327-9183 and give me your take on Chicago's Week From Hell.
Tonight I'm talking about the Chicago Blackhawks continuing their struggles, dropping two more home games over the weekend in ugly fashion. With the NHL trade deadline approaching, would you rather see the Hawks make a move to shore up their defense or help their recently anemic offense? The Chicago Bulls have won 6 of their last 7, but Derrick Rose remains consistently inconsistent while Joakim Noah and some role players have stepped up their game. If you could have the MVP Derrick of old OR the Defensive Player of the Year Noah of last season, which would you rather have? I've got open phone lines for you! (347) 327-9183. BECAUSE CHICAGO LOVES SPORTS.
Tonight I welcome in Joe Ostrowski, Host and Executive Producer at 670 The Score here in Chicago. I'll ask Joe about the recent talk surrounding Chicago Bears big-timers Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall. He'll also offer up his thoughts on the recent struggles of the Chicago Bulls, who fell to the Houston Rockets 101-90 on Wednesday night. I'll have open phone lines later in the show, so call in @ (347) 327-9183 ! I want your thoughts on whether the Bears should keep Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall or get rid of them. Who or what is the problem with these Bulls? Is the Blackhawks recent slump starting to worry you?
