    Lugnuts and Horsepower: Charlotte Speedweeks

    in Sports

Saturday night was a night of fun antics when it came to the race sponsor, but the action on the track was as intense as NASCAR has expected.  Patti Rodisch and Dustin Parks will look back on the two nights that Kansas hosted action.

The Truck race itself was drama filled, with trucks running out of fuel with laps winding down, and the dominant truck left to wonder what may have been.  At the end of it all, Matt Crafton continued the defense of his two-consecutive championships with another win on the year, and now more momentum heading into Charlotte.

Then came the late night on Saturday that saw references to sponges, pineapples and Krabby Patties.  But in the end, it was Jimmie Johnson taking home another Kansas win, and his third on the season, which now puts him in the Chase lead heading into NASCAR's All-Star Week.

That will be the final topic as these two look to the Sprint All-Star Race, a five-segment sprint that will give someone a million-dollar payout.  Tune in at 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT to listen in.

The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #22

    in Sports

Well look here. The light is still on the Frat House Sports Garage AGAIN this week. That’s because this week’s NASCAR All-Star Race is on Saturday again . . . this time from Charlotte Motor Speedway and they’re just sittin’ around, poppin’ a few cold ones, and chewin’ the fat about that big event.

Prior to that though Uncle Mark provides a unique Frat House Sports homage to David Letterman, Brian France, Deflategate, and dirty, rotten, racing cheaters. Huh? Well, it’s a must listen!

Jimmie Johnson leads the pack now after picking up his third win of the season at Kansas Speedway, but really it probably should have been Martin Truex Jr. except for a crucial mistake.

Now, this weekend doesn’t count in the standings, but in the past the All-Star Race has certainly had its share of suspenseful and eventful racing, and we’re not expecting anything different this weekend. What makes this event even more intriguing is that we’ll see Kyle Busch behind the wheel of the M&Ms #18 for the first time this season.

It’s a fun & frivolous celebration weekend in motor sports and while the guys are going Over the Wall this show is just entertaining and amusing . . . and we’re looking for your additions with your calls at 347 - 826 - 9964!

The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #21

    in Sports

The Frat House Sports Garage is open late again this week with the Saturday race looming at Kansas Motor Speedway and the guys ain’t mindin’ that, as it means . . . pizza and beer . . . and YOUR calls about all thing motorsports.

When the guys should be workin’, they’re goin’ be talkin’ Dale Junior’s big win (his 6th all-time!) at Talladega Superspeedway . . . and, did his buddy Jimmie Johnson let him get that “W” and his entry to “The Chase”? But, they’re also revisiting last weekend’s “Big One’s” at ‘Dega in Lap 19 and Lap 47. Nonetheless, it seemed nothing was stopping Ryan Blaney. Is this kid for real? BUT then, we’ve got a final lap incident and no “caution” is called . . . and many are complaining. Really?

RCR had their penalty appeal heard this week. Guess what? It stands. We’re chattin’ it.

Uncle Mark is going Over the Wall with complaints about the schedule – we need your help in fixin’ it! Sidekick’s got his Fantasy picks; and the rest of the guys are jumping in with their Eat-My-Dust Picks!

We love Saturday night racin’ because that means we’ve got the pizza on a Friday night show. . . You provide the beer for our evening full of racin’ chat fun at the Frat House Sports Garage . . . and all of your calls at 347 - 826 - 9964!

The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #19

    in Sports

It’s another rare Friday where the guys are forced to keep the Frat House Sports Garage open late – just too much work to do before tomorrow’s Saturday night NASCAR racing at Richmond International Raceway.

First though we're looking back over last Sunday’s “Bristol Marathon” which saw 11 cautions, four rain delays, and a G-W-C finish. Matt Kenseth picked up his first checkered since 2013 while the “Pesky Boys” were wrecking each other and Denny Hamlin, with sudden mysterious neck pain, was replaced with wunderkind Erik Jones. What to make of it all? The “guys in the garage” are chatting it up.

We’ve got rare Saturday night racing at Richmond and we’ll have our own Brandon on the ground track-side. While drivers like Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin have a history here, could we see Jeff Gordon or Tony Stewart get their first win of the season?

There’s drag racing going on this weekend at the Royal Purple Raceway, and Frat House Mike will be updating NHRA in his report on activities in Houston.

Uncle Mark is going Over the Wall; Sidekick’s got his Fantasy picks; and the rest of the guys are jumping in with their Eat-My-Dust Picks!

    As it’s Friday night, we’ve got the beer . . . if you’re stopping by, you bring the pizza . . . and your comments to the Frat House Sports Garage . . . by giving a call to 347 - 826 - 9964!

The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #18

    in Sports

Start your Sunday NASCAR race day the right way . . . with the guys in the Frat House Sports Garage giving you all the latest news and chat and taking calls before green flag today at Bristol Motor Speedway.

    (1) It seems the penalties for messing with the tires of the #31 have, for the most part, been upheld against Richard Childress Racing and Ryan Newman. (2) Kyle Busch seems to have shed his bad-boy “Rowdy” persona as he appeared before the media and provided his timetable for return. (3) Jimmie Johnson got his second win of the season at Texas Motor Speedway, but Martin Truex Jr. might just be the next winner as he nailed-down his seventh Top-10 in seven races! (4) David Ragan has been more than a suitable replacement for Kyle Busch keeping the Joe Gibbs Racing #18 in the #10 spot in the standings. So, why would JGR consider going to Erik Jones?

This week it’s time to go short-tracking and “Bristol Stomping” at The Bullring of Bristol Motor Speedway and THAT always poses its own special hazards.

Uncle Mark is going Over the Wall; Sidekick’s got his Fantasy picks; and the rest of the guys are jumping in with their Eat-My-Dust Picks!

As usual, they got the coffee going . . . YOU bring the donuts . . . and your comments to the Frat House Sports Garage . . . by giving them a call at 347 - 826 - 9964!

Talking In Circles: Coke 600, Indy 500, Hall of Fame reaction

    in Sports

On this episode of Talking in Circles we discuss this weekend's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.Memorial Day is the greatest weekend in racing, Monaco Grand Prix, Indy 500, Coke 600 on the same day. We'll give our thoughts on the Coca-Cola 600 and what we think we're gonna see.

Also NASCAR voted 5 people into the Hall of Fame this past week. Jerry Cook, Curtis Turner, Terry Labonte, Bruton Smith and Bobby Isaac- who missed that should have made it? and we give our opinions on why these people made it. Rick Hendrick, Ray Evernham- Both guys should be over Bruton Smith. Why did Bruton Smith get in?

My 5: Bobby Isaac, Ray Evernham, Robert Yates, Curtis Turner, Mark Martin

Jeff Gordon joins Fox broadcast booth in 2016. How do you think Jeff will do in the booth and it looks like Larry McReynolds will move to the Hollywood hotel. Jeff said he was joining Mike Joy and Darrell Waltrip. Rumors DW might be out too but right now that's not the case. Happy with Jeff?

Rumors about a second team for Furniture Row Racing in 2016. Who could go there and is that the right fit for that team right now.

Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne's truck team get handed out penalities from Charlotte. Johnson gets a 'written warning' and Kahne's team gets fined 10 points and $6k fine for Joe Shear Jr. Is that right and what should the penalities have been?

Also we'll take your phone calls as we get ready for an awesome weekend of racing this weekend.

The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #17

    in Sports

The guys are keeping Frat House Sports Garage open a bit later this evening with last-minute tuning that needs to be done before Saturday night's NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway.

It seems like it’s been weeks since the last race. Guess that’s because it has been. So, they’re recapping the Martinsville race which saw the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas run very well with Denny Hamlin taking the checkered. The “Pesky boys” took 2nd and 3rd, and don’t look now, but Danica Patrick came in the top-10.

Everything’s bigger in Texas. Does that mean it will be big for Roush-Fenway with the opportunity to get back on the radar or will it continue to be dominated by Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, or two-in-a-row for Denny Hamlin?

Uncle Mark Goes Over the Wall just don’t throw your tools – that’s a pit road penalty; we’re already talking about 2016 rules packages; and is NOW the time to talk about Danica in F-1? Frat House Mike previews this week’s NHRA doings in “Sin City” – Sidekick’s got his Fantasy picks sure to succeed; and, the Frat House Gang’s Eat-My-Dust Picks!

No coffee and donuts needed today – more like, you bring the pizza, they’ll provide the beer and be sure to put extra cheese and pepperoni on it for the guys parked right now over in the Frat House Sports Garage . . . oh, and be sure to give them a call at 347 - 826 - 9964!
