Talking in Circles: Texas Review; Jeff Gordon vs. Brad Keselowski

    in Sports

On tonight's episode of Talking in Circles we'll talk about today's race at Texas Motor Speedway. Jimmie Johnson, the second non-chaser to win this round, wins his 70th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of his career. Jimmie seemed to have the best car of the day, and after a wild finish, and a bunch of crazy restarts, Jimmie goes on to win it.

This race had some major implications for the race in Phoenix. Jeff Gordon, who was leading before the second-to-last restart fell from the points lead, to just one point to the good in the chase hunt. Brad Keselowski struggled all day long, and ended up finishing third after running aggessively on the same restart, winded up finishing third.

Carl Edwards was terrible all day long, but rallied to ninth at the end of the race, and now is in the running of advancing. For the first time in this chase, all of the drivers in the chase are in the hunt in the final race of the round.

Brad Keselowski and Jeff Gordon had an altercation after the race that resulted in a pit road brawl. We'll discuss this issue, and we will see if there are penalties handed down on Tuesday.

Also, we'll talk about how there were more people in my living room watching The Walking Dead tonight, than there was watching NASCAR Racing at Texas Motor Speedway today... Not really, but you get my point.

Plus, a big name in the NASCAR Nationwide Series is on the move... We'll talk about the Elliott Sadler move to Roush Fenway Racing.

Big show tonight, and we invite you all to be a part of the conversation... right here on Talking in Circles on BlogTalkRadio.com

The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #9

    in Sports

Uncle Mark & Brandon have set up in the Frat House Sports garage to chat up a bit of end-of-season NASCAR noise, nonsense and shenanigans . . . AND they're taking your calls as well!

ANOTHER non-Chaser won at last week's Chase Race #8 at Texas Motor Speedway and the second Hendrick Motorsports driver in-a-row, Jimmie Johnson. Boy, do those guys love playing spoiler! With just one race left before the "Final Four" cut, who was the biggest loser? Well, Brad Keselowski certainly had the biggest bruises following the Keselowski-Gordon-Harvick brawl!

But, NOW here comes ANOTHER "cut day" with Race #9 at Phoenix International Raceway and, AGAIN, the conversation revolves around those that can advance yet have not won or are perceived heavy underdogs -- guys like Ryan Newman and Denny Hamlin . . . oh, they've been saying it for weeks . . . but, is THIS the one where 'BK" meets the wall???

PLUS . . . the feel good story of the week in NASCAR comes from an 18-year-old rookie Champion over in the Nationwide Series, Chase Elliott!

They've got the coffee. You bring the donuts and bring enough for the guys parked right now over in the "Frat House Sports Garage" . . . oh, and be sure to give them a call at 347 - 826 - 9964!

Talking in Circles: Geico 500 Review; Brad Keselowski wins and moves on

    in Sports

On tonight's show, we talk about the Geico 500 today at Talladega SuperSpeedway. Brad Keselowski wins, and moves on in the chase. Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Kasey Kahne all get eliminated after the race ended.

We'll discuss the race, our attaboys, and also break down the season and the days for the drivers who got eliminated from the chase, and also the ones who will move on in the chase as well, as we head to the Eliminator Round, with Martinsville, Texas and Phoenix.

Ryan Newman's number 31 car fails post race inspection after today's race. It's believed to be a 15 point penalty, which we won't know until Tuesday. We will see if this point penalty is signifcant enough to effect Newman's chase hopes.

Richard Petty Motorsports is moving their race shop. The team is currently housed across the street from Roush Fenway Racing, and now will be moving to a facility that is closer to Team Penske, not Roush Fenway Racing. Rumors have the team aligning with Penske. We'll talk about the significance of this move as well.

Dominic Aragon, from TheRacingExperts.com will join the show, and give his opinion as well on these topics.

Packed show tonight, and we hope that you enjoy it.

The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #7

    in Sports

The "Big One" took place last week at Talladega . . . and Uncle Mark & special guest co-host, Sidekick aren't talking about a major wreck . . . unless you view Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earmhardt Jr., and Kyle Busch eliminated from NASCAR's Chase as a wreck!

Those guys are reviewing the cuts; the interest in this new Chase format; the eight remaining for the the final four races; and, what Martinsville brings to the table today! Could any of those eliminated drivers work as a "spoiler"?

With just two events remaining in NHRA Drag Racing's Countdown to the Championship, things just got a bit odd over at John Force Racing that could affect the overall outcome for the 16-time champion John Force!

Bring your coffee and donuts and bring enough for the guys parked right now over in the "Frat House Sports Garage" . . . oh, and be sure to give them a call at 347 - 826 - 9964!

The Frat House Sports Show #165

    in Sports

The Frat House Sports crew is back behind the microphones, raring to go. So buckle up because it is one fast paced show, with a variety of sports chat going on!

Could THIS be the most disgraceful NCAA revelation yet?! Emails released this week indicate that the NCAA blackballed Penn State into accepting fines and punishment after the Sandusky scandal came to light. The thought being that the school would be “embarrassed” and “willing to do anything” and accept the punishments. This revelation brings many questions up: Did the NCAA overstep its boundaries? Is this kind of punishment really within the power of the NCAA?

NASCAR has just two weeks left before the end of the season and things are heating up on the track—and we don’t just mean tires and engines! Tempers flare at the end of the race at Texas Motor Speedway, resulting in thrown punches, pushing and shoving between Keselowski, Gordon and others. In between this roadside brawl, did we mention…ANOTHER non chaser won the race in Jimmie Johnson?! What happens at Phoenix International Speedway this coming race is up in the air at this point, but bets are high that Keselowski ends up in a wall.

Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice both had hearings this week, regarding their behavior off the field. The effects of those hearings and their futures within the NFL hang in the balance and have many wondering: What’s next? Will either see the field this year, or even ever? Or are new teams in the cards for each player?

    We've got "4 Minutes of Football" + more as we "pick 'em" on games: Dolphins-Lions; 49ers-Saints; Bills-Chiefs; Bears-Packers in NFL's Week 10!

Got a comment or a few? Jump right in with the guys at 347 - 826 - 9964!

The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #6

    in Sports

The "Big One" is HERE . . . and just in time for the second round of cuts in the newly formatted 2014 NASCAR Chase format. That's the center of attention for Uncle Mark and Brandon parked in "the garage" here at Frat House Sports.

Talladega Superspeedway might just be the undoing for Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson, and Brad Keselwoski. THAT's the topic . . . THAT's the tension . . . THAT's what is making this years new format so much fun . . . and the guys are talking about it! Many in media are claiming that Talladega has NEVER been more important than it is today . . . and, we all know that it's the BIG crap-shoot. We saw fireworks at the conclusion of Charlotte last week. WOW, what do you think the end here might mean?

Now . . . on the other side . . . more than likely drivers like Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin, and Kasey Kahne just have to "lay up," drive mid-pack, and keep out of the fray to potentially advance . . . or do they?

Today comes the biggest CUT with just four races remaining to the Championship . . . and IT'S going to be a GOOD one. THIS is the pre-race show you need to be listening to . . . and participating in by calling 347 - 826 - 9964!
