Jewish Roots - Romans 11 And The Jews -"ENCORE PRESENTATION"

    in Spirituality

[This is an Encore Presentation: Pre-recorded. Do not call in.]

Go into any Christian bookstore and browse the "End Times" shelves. Turn on any televangelist prophesy preacher, attend any Bible prophesy conference you choose, and what do they all have in common? You guessed it: Israel and the Jews. Aside from the truth or error of what you'll read and hear, that marketing niche has been "big business" for Christian purveyors of mass media, and for over 50 years. This Thursday night, we explore why. For over 50 years, most of the evangelical churches have been under the thrall of a belief system called "Dispensationalism" Opposing that is a position called Covenant Theology, more prevalent among Calvinistic and Reformation churches. Tune in and take notes! Your host: Rev. Rick Anderson, on "Jewish Roots", each Thursday at 9:30 to 10:30 pm EST. To access Rev. Anderson's website: http://www.scripturesdramatized.com

Jewish Roots - "Sharing Your Faith With Jewish Friends: Ten Tips "

    in Spirituality

[Archived show: not "LIVE". Do not call in tonight.] How do you share your faith with people from a different faith? St. Paul did it with the Athenians on Mars Hill 2000 years ago in Acts chapter 17. He communicated the gospel in clear and relevant language. A recent Foug Crew broadcast dealt with ' Christian - ese ", the kind of language that born-again Christians use with one another, but is misunderstood by the very people our Lord seeks to reach through us. '" Ten Tips " gives  powerful practical examples of that when witnessing to Jews. Rev. Rick Anderson, raised Jewish and educated in Hebrew parochial schools, will demonstrate the right and wrong way to "contextualize " the gospel to Jewish friends. April 2nd, Thursday, 9:30-10:30 PM on "Jewish Roots" Listen through www.scripturesdramatized.com or through http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fougcrew.

Jewish Roots - The Handwriting On The Wall

    in Spirituality

    The Handwriting On the Wall

Talk to 5 people on the street and ask them what the phrase "The Handwriting On the Wall" means. They'll have some idea because it's become part of American colloquialism. But ask them where its from or what the original context was, and they won't be able to tell you. This Thursday, we'll deal with what the phrase really means, and it's historic context when first spoken: when the prophet Daniel was summoned before the last Babylonian emperor Beshazzar, who was so frightened by what he saw that his knees knocked together convulsively. Tune in and take notes! Your host, Rev. Rick Anderson on Jewish Roots, each Thursday night 9:30 pm, at www.blogtalkradio.com/fougcrew. To call in with a question on comment: 347-324-5759.

Jewish Roots - Christ In The Passover

    in Spirituality

    Christ in the Passover

"The Last Supper", that famous painting by Leonardo Da Vinci, shows Christ and the disciples eating a meal at a long table in straight-backed chairs. But most Christians aren't aware that they didn't just sit down and have a supper. Oh no! This was a Seder. Our Jewish friends could tell us a thing or two about Seders. This was a specialized ritual meal, eaten every year at Passover, commemorating the exodus from Egypt. A lot of Christians don't even know that their communion "bread and wine" came right from this Seder's observance. And another thing: those disciples? They didn't sit on straight-backed chairs, either. This Thursday night, we'll look at what actually happened at that "Last Supper". It's a fascinating slice of history and culture that few realize. Rick Anderson on Jewish Roots, each Thursday 9:30 pm, EST at blogtalkradio.com/fougcrew.  Or listen LIVE through Twitter, LinkedIn, GooglePlus, or www.facebook.com/fougcrew. Jewish Roots - The Lesson Of Purim

    in Spirituality

    The Lesson of Purim

Purim was this past Sunday. Did you miss it?  Well, it's easy to miss. After all, it's only celebrated by Jews, right? But it SHOULD mean something to you if you're a Christian because it's in the Bible, in the Book of Esther. The Book of Esther's written in a way unlike anyother book of the Bible. Martin Luther had problems with it: "I want to toss this book into the River Elbe!" he said. "It judaises too much and is full of heathenish naughtiness!" Later he came 'round to believing it was divinely inspired. Thursday we discuss why, and thus what Purim has to do with Christians. Tune in and take notes! Your host, Rev. Rick Anderson, on Jewish Roots, each Thursday 9:30-10:30 pm DST at blogtalkradio.com/fougcrew. Jewish Roots - Signs Of An Apostle

    in Spirituality

    Signs of an Apostle

Here's the scene: St. Paul is being "bad-mouthed" by his own church: the very church he had started. True, not everyone talked bad about him, but a few ring-leaders did, and they were affecting the opinions of others in the church at Corinth, a city in Greece 2000 years ago. They were saying he was a fake apostle. So Paul defends his ministry, but he has to do it by letter because he's far away. So he reasons with the Corinthians from the time when he was with them in person, and writes "Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you." Now here's the question: "What IS an apostle actually, and are there any more today?" Certain charismatic/pentecostal churches are called "apostolic", meaning they believe the office of apostle continues. (And if you show up Sunday, you get to hear her preach. Or sometimes him.) On the other end of the spectrum, the popes in Rome  also claim they are apostles. So who's right, and how can you know? Tune in and take notes! Your host: Rev. Rick Anderson, on "Jewish Roots" each Thursday, 9:30-10:30 pm, EST. Listen live through Twitter, LinkedIn, GooglePlus and Facebook/com/fougcrew. To call with question or comment: 347-324-5759.
