Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1235

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Deborah Dooley from Denver, Colorado, a NAASCA family member who's making her first appearance as a special guest on our show. "The support of the unity of your organization has already impacted me," she told us some time ago. "I already felt great about even making contact with you and knowing what you are doing that it gave me a refreshed hope about my own journey of healing." Deborah's a proud member of the Christian community, but also wrote me that she recognized the benefit of using a 12 step "design for living" for child abuse recovery, saying, "Many times, I have thought about how valuable it would be to have a 12 step program for abuse issues that could translate to help all people since the 12 step is so effective in its use." A 12 step program encourages belief in a Power greater than oneself, of course, but allows for a God as you understand Him. She said, "I, personally, hope to go through this 12 step program that you have developed" (please see www.ASCA12step.org). Deborah was born in Hawaii but lives in Denver now, and tells us she's the proud mother of a daughter who unfortunately ended her life in July 2013 after a long series of very traumatic circumstances. "My life up until her death was focused on getting her safe from abuse by her dad since the courts don't protect kids from this," she says, "and there's no place to turn for help at this point to protect your child. I am now working on what is the best and most expedient solution for the courts." She believes that these kinds of preventable tragedies can be stopped from happening to children and families. Deborah hopes to work toward making our country be more loving towards its children.

TEI041: Using Story & Prototyping in a Design Thinking Framework

    in Business

Global Product Management Talk is pleased to bring you episode 041 of...

The Everyday Innovator with host Chad McAllister, PhD.

The podcast is all about helping people involved in innovation and managing products become more successful, grow their careers, and STANDOUT from their peers.

About Our Guest: Mark Zeh was already developing products using a methodology that was very similar to what IDEO was doing when he joined them. The approach has since been coined Design Thinking. He views the use of storytelling coupled with prototyping as the keys that make Design Thinking work so well.

Mark started his design career in the US creating custom mountain bike frames in Minneapolis that carried his name. He worked for product design giant IDEO in the US and helped to lead the office in Germany. He also consulted independently to numerous companies, applying Design Thinking, and is now at Bose, the audio technology powerhouse. In addition, he leads the Entrepreneurship program at the Munich Business School. I invited him to share his insights on using Design Thinking, which he recently wrote about in the PDMA Essentials book titled Design and Design Thinking. His chapter is The Key Role of Stories and Prototypes in a Design Thinking Product Development Process.”

Workshop Wednesdays Radio with Host Tony Gambone and His Guest Anthony Tenaglier.

Anthony Tenaglier - No, the tattooed and pierced engineer with a Mohawk wanted a different song and dance in life. He knew it. It didn’t have to be in front of millions of people on TV. He didn’t care if he was a celebrity. He only cared if he could design his own life’s song and dance.

But when he looked in the mirror, he never felt he was good enough to do it. He felt his work was for retirement, that he needed to find a woman to marry - right now! - and that his "education" was forgotten, information buried in textbooks and never again applied.

But why did he even need the high-paying job or the shiny ring? Who said they were even what he was supposed to value in his life, anyway?

Today, Tony the Philosophical Engineer continually applies the concept of philosophical engineering to design new ways of thinking about a life worth living.
