In the 23rd episode of SRO Conversations, Lisa Linhardt, the Founder and Creative Director of Linhardt Design, a custom and ready-made jewelry gallery located New York City, discusses the art of jewelry creation and the discipline around design. "I think it's become a quick culture," she says. "We're used to making things quickly" but that may be why the artisan nature of design is more highly appreciated.Since opening the Linhardt Gallery in May of 2008, Lisa has been coined the "green jeweler" by New York Magazine; who also named Linhardt Design a "Critics' Pick" for the East Village. Lisa's jewelry has been showcased in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week NYC for three seasons in a row. The jewelry has also been featured in magazines such as Vogue, Numero Paris, and Harper's Bazaar. Lisa's unique, sculptural creations have also caught the attention of many notable celebrities - from Alicia Keys and Jennifer Lopez to Gisele Bundchen and Kerry Washington. Her highly sought-after label features sustainable metals and ethically-sourced stones. This December 5, 2013, her work will be featured at the Ibu Gallery at the Palais Royal in Paris. Her label is available at 211 Mott Street in New York. http://www.linhardtdesign.com/To view all conversations, including this one, visit www.summerrayne.net.Direct any comments/questions for this episode on Twitter @sroakes with #SROConvoYou may also follow Lisa on Twitter @linhardtdesign

We will take leaders and members to task as we explore how the local church has misapplied the Word of God to fit the wants of the church and not the mandates of GOD. Ricki Love will draw upon the experiences of Church Coaches Ellis (former pastor) and Jarda (corporate chaplain) to put into perspective or debunk issues. Ultimately, Why Church People endeavors to help Churches "Discover its Divine Design; Passionately Pursue its Purpose; Define its Destiny; and Leave its Legacy." Why me? Why now? What is God doing? Suffering is a tool God uses to get our attention and to accomplish His purposes in our lives. It is designed to build our trust in the Almighty, but suffering requires the right response if it is to be successful in accomplishing God’s purposes. Suffering forces us to turn from trust in our own resources to living by faith in God’s resources.
Suffering is not in itself virtuous, nor is it a sign of holiness. It is also not a means of gaining points with God, nor of subduing the flesh. When possible, suffering is to be avoided. Christ avoided suffering unless it meant acting in disobedience to the Father’s will.
What is suffering? What are these bends in the road that God puts in the path of life that we are to carefully consider? Simply stated, suffering is anything which hurts or irritates. In the design of God, it is also something to make us think. It is a tool God uses to get our attention and to accomplish His purposes in our lives in a way that would never occur without the trial or irritation.

Tonight’s show explores what drives word-of-mouth -- that sometimes free but always highly valuable person-to-person advertising and recommending of products, ideas, and behaviors.
My guest tonight, Wharton marketing professor Dr. Jonah Berger, will debunk the myths and lay out what the research says about how we can design products, ideas, and behaviors so people will talk about them. In other words, so they'll catch on.
Berger’s book we’ll be discussing is Contagious: Why Things Catch On.
