Hosea’s Wife and Children (Hosea 1:1-11)

    in Christianity

    TEXTS

The word of the Lord which came to Hosea the son of Beeri, during the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and during the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of harlotry and have children of harlotry; for the land commits flagrant harlotry, forsaking the Lord.” So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son. And the Lord said to him, “Name him Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will punish the house of Jehu for the bloodshed of Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. On that day I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.”

Then she conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And the Lord said to him, “Name her Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer have compassion on the house of Israel, that I would ever forgive them. But I will have compassion on the house of Judah and deliver them by the Lord their God, and will not deliver them by bow, sword, battle, horses or horsemen.”

When she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived and gave birth to a son. And the Lord said, “Name him Lo-ammi, for you are not My people and I am not your God.”

Yet the number of the sons of Israel Will be like the sand of the sea, Which cannot be measured or numbered; And in the place Where it is said to them, “You are not My people,” It will be said to them, “You are the sons of the living God.” And the sons of Judah and the sons of Israel will be gathered together, And they will appoint for themselves one leader, And they will go up from the land, For great will be the day of Jezreel.

    THEMES

Perpetuation of Sin and You (2 Kings 15)

    in Christianity

2 Kings 15:1-4New King James Version (NKJV)

    Azariah Reigns in Judah

15 In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah the son of Amaziah, king of Judah, became king. 2 He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem. 3 And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done, 4 except that the high places were not removed; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

The Man Who Did More Evil than Anyone Ever Before and You (1 Kings 14 & 15)

    in Christianity

Here is what evil looks like: Complete departure from God while embracing and promoting evil schemes.

1 Kings 14:9-11New Living Translation (NLT)

9 You have done more evil than all who lived before you. You have made other gods for yourself and have made me furious with your gold calves. And since you have turned your back on me, 10 I will bring disaster on your dynasty and will destroy every one of your male descendants, slave and free alike, anywhere in Israel. I will burn up your royal dynasty as one burns up trash until it is all gone. 11 The members of Jeroboam’s family who die in the city will be eaten by dogs, and those who die in the field will be eaten by vultures. I, the Lord, have spoken.’”

Moment In The Word: Judgement on Injustice

    in Christianity

Join us eachThursday evening for Bible Study at The Well of New Beginnings Ministries with Apostle Carmen. The Word says...to study to show yourself approved to God a good workman... That means that we each must acknowledge our responsible to know what our Father says as it relates to our personal and corporate daily lives.  The Word is the promises and instruction of G-d to HIs people while we live in this strange land that is not our home. Let's "rightly" divide the Word so that we may be the light and the salt of the earth until the bridegroom comes for His own.

This week we are taking the journey with the children of G-d in the Old Testament Book of Amos.  Like most of us Amos is doing his thing and going about his business.  Yet, during his travels what his eyes see begin to become a burden in his heart.  His world is not longer the one he grew up in and he is very distrubed regarding the matter.  Let's take a moment to explore what Amos see, experiences and is tasked to accomoplish.  Would Amos be comfortable in our current national and global environments?

The Amos Document: Repentance As A Lost "Divine Imperative"

    in Spirituality

This episode of Pneumatikos will explore repentance as a lost imperative in the ancient kingdom of Jeroboam 11.  The people of Yahweh had sold out to luxury and self-indulgence.  The leisure class believed in haute couture, gastronomic delight, and sensual pleasure, and yet failed to appreciate the demands of social justice and appropriate worship of Yahweh.  The nabi Amos stole into their vanity faire and ignited a firestorm in the midst of their practical atheism.  The righteous demands of Yahweh were not to be ignored.

America has NO FEAR OF God! What A TRAGEDY

    in Spirituality

I feel compelled to preach this morning on the lack of fear of God in this nation and what will surely happen to this country.

    I. Jeroboam II, A King Who Had No Fear of God.

    A. Jeroboam II was the King of Israel who ruled 41 years and truly a man who had no fear of God. He united idolatry of worshiping golden calves and immorality with the worship of Jehovah (Hosea 4:13; 13:6). The worship of God had degenerated into mere ritualism devoid of righteousness and morality (Amos 4:4; 5:5,21-24; 8:14). Yet God said,

"I hate I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. Thou ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols."

    The Burning Bush

    in Religion

    1 Kings 13:1
1 And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lord unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.
And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.
And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the Lord hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
