    VERDICT - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW - THUR, OCT 15, 2015 - 6:00pm PST

    in Radio

Straight from notoriously rugged streets of Detroit comes Verdict, a young artist who's arresting lyrics delivers a hard-hitting yet positive message to the world about the power of individuality, self-belief, and overcoming adversity. Verdict's knack for creating literate thought-provoking rhymes is underscored by his near encyclopedic knowledge of all different genres of music. Verdict brings a wide array of musical styles! "Growing up in Detroit, I was just a sponge for music, says Verdict. "I listened to a lot of jazz artist like Marcus Miller and a lot of R&B artist like Mary J Blige, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston. I also really loved hip-hop artist who were very musically eclectic like A Tribe Called Quest and Outkast. They were huge influences upon me.The seeds of Verdict's love of hip-hop first sprouted back in the late '90s when a middle school-aged Verdict began writing and spitting rhymes after being inspired by a teacher named Mr. Cooper who would sometimes rap for his students.

The year was 2006 Verdict met Detroit hip-hop manager Jacq" Pauly" Lovejoy, who was blown away by the young man's rapping abilities and his clear-eyed, no nonsense raps about post-millennium life in Detroit. "We knew we wanted to make true hip-hop---hard hitting, real, something enough to stand the test of time & represent the best hip- hop product available today" Thus BenOfficial Music was established "says Lovejoy. Attention to detail is a trait that noticeable throughout Verdict's work which has perfectly captured the state of hip-hop.

2015 brought even more chances for Verdict to shine with opening up for Jermain Dupri, Kid Capri, Keith Murray, The Luniz, Dru Down and even rocked the mic on the same stage as Rakim, Big Daddy kane, Slick Rick the Ruler, and Brand Nubian. The Verdict is in. And he's here to stay!

Klitschko vs. Jennings, Dirrell vs. Jack, Jacobs vs. Truax Review

    in Sports

In the main event of the evening, the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO Heavyweight Champion of the world. Wladimir Klitschko (63-3 with 54 KOs) entered the ring to one of the loudest roars from a crowd you may ever hear to face the undefeated Bryant Jennings (19-0 with 10 KOs). Over 17 thousand filled the World’s Most Famous Arena at Madison Square Garden to watch Klitschko fight his 1st fight in the US in over seven year.

The biggest fight on the Wladimir Klitschko vs Bryant Jennings card was a battle between two welterweights as Brooklyn’s own Sadam Ali (21-0 with 13 KOs) squared off against Francisco Santana (22-3-1 with 11 KOs) of Santa Barbara, California. It was a non-title bout of two skilled fighters that had average pop, and it was scheduled to go 10 rounds. Anthony Dirrell and Badou Jack headlined tonight’s “PBC” on Spike live from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois. Dirrell was defending his WBC super-middleweight title in his 2015 debut against Jack, who was entering the ring two wins removed from his first loss.Tonight’s “PBC” series broadcast came to us live from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois, and it was aired on Spike TV, their second showing of Al Haymon’s brain child. The co-feature offered up Danny Jacobs defending his paper championship against Caleb Truax, a fighter whose only claim to fame is a scored knockdown against Jermain Taylor in a losing effort and a win against Don George.

Brandon Rios vs Mike Alvarado III Recap, more, with Eric Raskin

    in Sports

Well that sucked. Brandon Rios vs Mike Alvarado III was all but guaranteed to be a cracking bout, even if it didn't last long. The last part was true, because the fight was over after just three rounds, but it was all Rios, all day. There seem to be more questions about Alvarado in the wake of the bout than anything else, and rightfully so. This week on TQBR Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Queensberry Rules' Patrick Connor welcome back Eric Raskin, ESPN and Grantland contributor, and co-host of the Ring Theory podcast. With a predictable early year gap coming in the boxing schedule, it leaves us open to talk Raskin's article about James "Buster" Douglas vs. Mike Tyson in Playboy, recent structural issues in the sport, and more. Thanks for tuning in!
