Jeff Trek welcomes Star Trek legend Larry Nemecek to the program. Larry is an American Star Trek author, actor, editor, archivist, consultant, interviewer and producer. His annual “TNG” concordance guides caught the eye of Star Trek’s TV writers and Pocket Books and he became the author of Star Trek The Next Generation Companion. For seven years he spent time creating, editing and leading the Star Trek Communicator licensed magazine. Most fun are consulting gigs with the Star Trek: The Experience museum and rides … exhibits like the Star Trek World Tour, Star Trek: Federation Science, Star Trek: The Tour … and DVD bonus feature projects on and off camera. A story sale to Star Trek Voyager that became the episode “Prophecy”. brand-new remastered audio series, "TREKLAND: On Speaker," launched in 2012 with a surprise debut at the Las Vegas Convention. His first film is now in the works, a documenatary that had to be made—"The Con of Wrath," the true story of the 1982 Houston "meltdown to miracle" featuring the original Star Trek cast. On all his projects, Larry brings a wide-ranging but unique and down-to-earth perspective—including the sharing of tales as a guest and pundit at conventions across the country or the likes of Canada, Germany, England, France, Italy, Austria, and the Czech Republic....and of course my favorite thing that I really enjoy about this guy is the fact that he also plays Doctor Lenard Bones McCoy in the fan film production Star Trek Continues. Star Trek: Captain Pike will be produced by Rigel 7 Productions and directed by Jeff Trek's special guest Director Todd Shawn Tei.
If you saw the original series Star Trek pilot “The Cage”, then you remember Captain Pike discussing his previous mission with the ship’s doctor and seeing many flashbacks throughout the episode. At the beginning of The Cage, set in 2254, Pike and his crew are recuperating from a mission to Rigel VII during which several members of the landing party were killed by inhabitants. The incident filled Pike with so much guilt that he is actually considered resigning his commission. In “Encounter at Rigel” you will see this story for the first very time. The original series never showed us what really happened, only quick flashbacks, but never the whole story. Now, finally, after all these years, Director Todd Shawn Tei brings us this entire epic story and you get an extremely special preview right here on Jeff Trek. This episode was very long but a whole lot of fun. I had no game plan other than discussing the TV show True Blood with Mr. Goodnight and Trekkie Stephen. We ended up welcoming NDB Media personalities Roger D. Noriega and Marc B. Lee along with friend to the show screenplay writer Tom Julian and of course the romantic love of my life Melanie Wurlitzer. And last but not the least, an on-going Jeff Trek favorite, the extraordinary and ever-loving Mr. George Takei Jr. THAT was the funniest part of the entire show as far as I am concerned. So click on the link and listen and thank you so again for supporting the show.
