Carson's Corner: Does Not Voting Equal Surrender.

    in Politics Progressive

Recently a Bernie Sanders activist, a man named Jeff Howard from Connecticut, forwarded me a picture titled, "Choosing not to vote isn't a rebellion, it's surrender."  We as Election Boycott Advocates, will address this notion. Plus, the corporate press is trying to eliminate the Black Lives Matter movement by declaring them a hate group. We'll discuss this and a lot more from a radical leftist perspective.

    Michael Wilton of Queensryche

    in Rock Music

Queensryche is a band that both Joe and I have loved since the early to mid 80's. From their intial EP to the Groundbreaking concept album "Operation Mindcrime" and to their lates installment of the band, Queensryche represents that hard hitting metal that we have worshipped since we were kids. So its a huge honor to have original guitarist Michael Wilton live on air with us (yes Joe will be live in studio). I will absolutely tell him how many times both Joe and I have seen this band before and let him know That I already have tickets for their upcoming September 12th show at the Barclay Center. Yes Sucking up to Michael Wilton is in the script.

In keeping with Joey's local band theme, We have local Guitar Wizard, CHris Martinez from Staten Band, Sicada, Live on the air as well. Chris Is calling to help Promote the bands show this Coming Friday at Webster Hall.

We are 1 week closer to the actual opening of the football season, so we should see a turn over in rosters as the teams trim down to their final 53 man team by Saturday. We will do our best to keep you updated on any significant movement of players. We may touch on some Fantasy football picks as well.

Finally, We will have Jeff Tolwinski in his usual 8:30 slot  but instead of his usual CD review segment, Jeff, as Senior Music Editor will spend some time reviewing all of the music performances from the big Anniversary Show this Past weekend.

Lots to do and only 3 hours to do it. Please tune to Blogtalkradio.com this Thursday at 6:30 pm est to listen in and by all means help us out with the show.

    Keep on Rockin!!!!

Talking Motorcycles with Jared Mees/Jeff Gordon/AMA Rookie Class of '79

    in Sports

In this edition of Talking Motorcycles with Barry Boone we preview the legendary Springfield Mile II! Our guest lineup for this episode is epic!

Charlie Roberts and Scott Parker join us to discuss the AMA Rookies Class of 79 and Friends' involvement in the Springfield Mile II event on Labor Day weekend. They have an amazing weekend of activities planned and we hear all about it.

Jeff Gordon, of Speedway Engine Development Inc, will be calling in to discuss their high-profile win at the Don Tilley Memorial AMA Pro Grand National at Charlotte and his thoughts on the team's approach to the Springfield Mile II. As engine builder, Jeff works closely with Rick Howerton on the Howerton Motorsports/Villa-Esparza/Crosley Radio Kawasaki ridden by National #42 Bryan Smith.

Jared Mees retains the point lead by a narrow six-point margin over Bryan Smith following his disappointing DNF at Charlotte. It was a near mirror image of the results from Harley-Davidson Flat Track at ESPN X-Games Austin. Chasing down Bryan Smith there was a shower of sparks from the tailpipe of the Las Vegas HD/Rogers Racing XR750 ending his race one lap short of completition. Now as the team approaches the Springfield Mile II and the balance of the season, what shall be his strategy? The reigning 2014 AMA Pro GNC1 champion joins us LIVE on the show!

Talking Motorcycles is powered by SOZO!

Special thanks to: Crosley Radio/Crosley Brands, The Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Dunlop Motorcycle Tire and Next Moto Champion!

"Up Close & Personal" with Bassist "John Dillard"

    in Music

Profusely talented and highly gifted.Born and raised in Rochester, NY, John was surrounded by music that helped shape his particular style of playing. John credits his early influences to his father. John’s musical journey started when he was eight years old. John gives credit to other heavy influences aside from family members such as Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Dave Holland, Ron Carter, John Patitucci, Nathan East, Fred Hammond, and Joel Smith. They drove his growth, resulting in a deeper love and dedication to the art of being a bassist. When asked about his greatest influences, John’s response is always: “Too many to name and enough to keep me humble and always practicing.”
Whether John is playing electric, acoustic (upright) bass, or key bass, John can be found holding the groove on local stages in Charlotte, NC, his hometown, or performing on main stages across the country with national recording artists. In his career thus far, he has worked with gospel artist Lejuene Thompson, musical director for Grammy Award-winning singer and actress Stephanie Mills, contemporary jazz artists Brian Simpson, Matt Marshak, Jeff Kashiwa, Steve Cole, Walter Beasley, Nick Colionne, Marc Antoine, and Four80East. Additionally, John has earned Grammy certifications for his performances on EMI gospel projects “Oh Happy Day,” an All-Star Celebration (Best Traditional Gospel Album) and Heather Headley’s “Audience of One” (Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album.) They were both won at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards.
