The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #20

    in Sports

The Frat House Sports Garage is open early here on Sunday – not for inspections but, for socializing – as the Race Trim MotorSports Hour mechanics sit around and chat about last week’s NASCAR results from a delayed Saturday to Sunday jog at Richmond International Raceway.

With Kurt Busch getting into the winner’s circle last week, has he now completely shook the demons of controversy that swirled around him from late last season through the beginning of this one? The “Pesky Boys” may be vulnerable as Joey Logano faded after leading 94 laps here. Truex Jr. continues to be strong, but JGR’s Denny Hamlin Toyota had to be the biggest loser. Is it just a matter of time before Jamie McMurray seals his entry into the 2015 Chase?

Today though “it’s Talladega, baby! And restrictor plate racing. Jeff Gordon’s got the pole and you got to wonder whether he finally gets a win for “The Chase.” Or, will the Native American burial ground level the field – as usual?

What’s the future of Danica Patrick as Go Daddy pulls it’s 2016 sponsorship of SHR’s #10? Uncle Mark is going Over the Wall; Sidekick’s got his Fantasy picks; and the rest of the guys are jumping in with their Eat-My-Dust Picks!

It’s back to Sunday racing which means the guys have got the double pot of coffee . . . you bring the donuts . . . and your comments to the Frat House Sports Garage . . . by giving a call to 347 - 826 - 9964!

    Sunday on the Front Stoop

    in Energy

Why are so many people being killed around the world?

Think of that sad "terrorism" around our world.  Is such "terrorism" being provoked by our dependence on foreign oil and other natural resource under their ground ?  Dennis, Jeff, and Susan will discuss this interesting issue.

HREM, Human Renewable Energy Measurement.  All these years when America had free grade school and free high school, why has college been SO expensive?  When a student graduates high school the average age is 18.  That's the same age when he or she can become a military soldier.  If they could not afford that expensive college, they've been told to just go overseas for a few years and they will afford higher education.

The sad news is that some of these teenagers never returned home and died in the army or navy or air force.  Even some that were lucky enough to return home, committed suicide after leaving these wars.  When they return home, they are reminded of their loving religious upbringing.  They had been taught to "love thy neighbor" or "thou shalt not kill".  If they were told overseas to "go in that house and kill whoever you see" they now mourn for all those innocent men or women or children that they killed under military order.

Fortunately, President Obama is now recommending that college becomes as free to our students as was their grade school and high school.

As an example, Saudi Arabia is No. 6 on the list of dictatorships in our world.  They get most of their weapons from countries like ours and we get a low price for the oil from under their ground.  Instead of sending our boys and girls overseas to get that good price on their oil, why not switch to solar or wind power?  That could also put an end to Climate Change on our planet.

Positively Autistic - Jeanette's Autism Show

    in Lifestyle

This is Jeanette Purkis's radio show where she and invited guests talk about all things Autism. Jeanette is an Autistic author, advocate and public speaker and is passionate about empowering people on the Autism spectrum to live fulfilled and positive lives. Jeanette is a keen advocate for inclusion and appropriate support for people with Autism spectrum conditions in such areas as employment, education, parenting and access to health services.

This week Jeanette will be speaking with Jeff Craig, an epigenetic researcher at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. Jeanette has asked friends and contacts to come up with some questions for Jeff given that genetic research can be a little bit contentious. This show could generate some differences of opinion and robust discussion - often a good thing.

Jeff Craig decribes himself as a researcher at work and in the garden. In his early career, he was locked inside a dark room for a few years studying human chromosomes. Seven years ago he saw the light and started working with human early life cohorts, which made his life much more interesting. He now blames epigenetics for every chronic illness, spouts forth such phrases as "you are what your mother ate" and is just starting to produce evidence to support these ideas. He believes that students, General Practitioners, and the public need to know about his crazy ideas and frequently speaks to them to get feedback to inspire his research. He is also obsessed with twins and thinks that they hold the key to understanding to roots of all human health problems. Jeff's aim is to use the science of 'epigenetics' to detect autisms early and to help understand the causes and mechanisms of autisms.
