Good Deeds presents Motivational Speaker/Author Tori Lynn.Tori speaks to men and women who are facing or has gone through a divorce or hardship. Tori obtained a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration degree in three years, graduating in 2000. During this time, she was also a full-time student studying to become a license barber/stylist. Tori was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and in 2002, Dallas, Texas became her new home where she currently resides with her two daughters.
Tori Lynn travels with her mother, Jerri Lynn, speaker/author of “The Black Woman’s Attitude and The Men Who Want To Love Us,” discussing her new highly anticipated release: The Divorce. Tori speaks on having the confidence to start anew with two children after losing everything: homes, cars, money, her marriage and her Faith.
Facing hardship, trials, and tribulations caused the birth of her autobiography “The Divorce” as she began to write about her experiences while empathizing with others’ pain. Tori candidly shares her own pain and the loss of her faith in family, man, and God. The thought of suicide became an option, but God; who she later realized had never left her, stepped in and turned her mess into a message. She wants others to know that God has not left them either so, LIVE!
On February 20, 2014, Tori released her story in the suspenseful, jaw-dropping, compelling and riveting read, “The Divorce.”
Gun Control & Historical Racism
As Black Americans we must realize that gun control laws, from a historical perspective, serve one purpose, to keep us vulnerable and more easily oppressed. This is not conjecture or rhetoric, it is easily documented fact.
Join us, Alex Primo and Asha Zuri, Thursday October 8th at 9 PM EST as we explore the way America sought to disarm Melanated individuals across the land as part of a ruthless plot to control, intimidate, and in many cases murder innocent slaves and freed men alike.
Brendan O’Neill of the Guardian notes:
Throughout the 1800's, states passed gun-control laws that were fundamentally racist. So, panicked by the prospect of more black rebellions against white landowners, the North Carolina Supreme Court passed a statute in 1840 that said: “If any free negro, mulatto, or free person of color shall wear or carry about his or her person, or keep in his or her house, any shotgun, musket, rifle, pistol, sword, dagger or bowie-knife… he or she shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and may be indicted therefore.”
In 1941, a judge in Florida’s Supreme Court called the laws into question when he overturned the conviction of a black man for carrying a handgun without a permit. He overturned the conviction, he said, because this law “was passed for the purpose of disarming the negro laborers … and to give the white citizens in sparsely settled areas a better feeling of security. The statute was never intended to be applied to the white population and in practice has never been so applied.”

Katrina Weidman is a senior at Penn State earning a dual degree in Integrative arts with an emphasis in music production and Theatre with an emphasis in performance. She originally wasn’t going to attend college, but after dropping a friend off at University Park and seeing the campus, she knew it was where she belonged. The next day she signed up for classes at Bucks County Community College, which she attended for two years before transferring to Penn State University Park in 2004. Besides being an investigator for the Paranormal Research Society, she’s been a member of the Penn State Snowboard club since 2004. In 2005 she joined The Lion 90.7 fm as a co-host for a variety of shows and voice over work.
She was born and raised in Bucks County, PA along with an older sister and a younger brother. She was born into an artistic family – both of her parents perform in their spare time and her mother writes original musicals for local playhouses. Some of her earliest memories are watching her mother and father tap dance together on stage; this also coincides with some of her strangest memories of her father dressed in drag for multiple shows. “Either way, my parents helped to shape my love and appreciation for performance art, which is why I’m a performer; I guess you could say it’s in my blood.”
“As long as I can remember I’ve had an interest in the paranormal,” says Katrina. “I knew Penn State was a perfect fit, not only did they offer majors that fit my wants and needs, but they had a paranormal club. I joined the club in 2006 and went through extensive training to become an investigator. I absolutely love every minute of what I do. I get to help people, learn about the paranormal, work with amazing people, and now that we have a show with A&E I get to work in the entertainment world as well. ”
