Bulls On the Brink, Hawks Stuck in 3rd, Cubs Win But Lose Schwarber

    in Sports

Yesterday was crazy! The Bulls lost, all but sealing their depressing fate of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2007-08.  How did this happen, and what should fans expect in the offseason?  The Blackhawks fell 2-1 in OT to the Blues last night, which cements them as the #3 seed in the Central Division.  Whoever they face in Round 1, they'll have to beat them without home ice.  More important than home ice, however, is having a fully healthy roster ready to defend the Cup.  The Cubs put up 14 runs on Arizona last night, getting their 3rd straight win to start the season.  But it came at a price.  What is the latest on Kyle Schwarber's injury, and what does it mean for the team?  Call in at 347.327.9183! BECAUSE CHICAGO LOVES SPORTS.

Polical and Protest Songs (one more time by request)

    in Music

The tradition of protest songs in the United States is a long one that dates back to the 18th century and colonial period, the American Revolutionary War and its aftermath. In the 19th century topical subjects for protest in song included abolition, slavery, poverty, and the Civil War amongst other subjects. In the 20th century civil liberties, civil rights, women's rights, economic injustice, politics and war were among the popular subjects for protest in song. In the 21st century the long tradition continues.

HBM Sunday / "Art Killing Apathy" a talk with Eleanor Goldfield.

    in Politics

She makes me think of Joan Baez or Vanessa Redgrave with a whisper of Gloria Steinem.  She impresses.  She entertains and she is making a large difference.  Her name is Eleanor Goldfield and she sing with the Rooftop Revolutionaries, creates and produces the show Act Out!   Eleanor Goldfield is a creative activist and writer based in Los Angeles. She works with organizations to create digital content as well as live events to combine pop culture and politics - art killing apathy; her political hard rock band Rooftop Revolutionaries being a primary example of this.  Her regular show, Act Out is a chronology of the moment in the paradigm shift we are pushing for. As a writer, she writes for several political publications on our corporatocratic government and all the issues stemming from that.
