    Texas State Bobcats Softball Preview

    #203: Cat Osterman, Assistant Coach, Texas State.  Texas State kicks off the 2016 season this week on Feb. 12, hosting the the CenturyLink Classic in San Marcos, Texas.  The tournament will include; Oklahoma State University, DePaul, Northwestern State and Abilene Christian.   In her first season with the Bobcats in 2015, Osterman led freshman pitcher Randi Rupp to earning First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors as well as being NFCA All-Region selection. Rupp threw her first no-hitter for the Bobcats on March 23 against UL Monroe before quickly following suit with her first perfect game on April 15 against Houston Baptist.     University of Wisconsin Softball Preview

    #200: Yvette Healy, Head Coach, Wisconsin.  The Wisconsin softball team will square off with nine teams that advanced to the 2015 NCAA Tournament during the 2016 campaign including California, BYU, Louisville, NC State, Kansas, Arizona State, Minnesota, Northwestern and Nebraska.  The Badgers finished last year with a 21-31 overall record and a 5-17 Big Ten record last year. They open the regular season against California at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona on Feb. 12-14.  Next, the Badgers head to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Feb. 19-21.  Big Ten play kicks off for the Badgers in East Lansing, Michigan, against Michigan State on March 24-26.  UW hosts four Big Ten opponents at Goodman Diamond, starting with a series against Ohio State on April 1-3.  The Badgers head to Minnesota for a doubleheader against the Gophers on April 12, followed by a trip to Iowa April 15-17.  A series at home against Illinois on April 22-24, a doubleheader against Green Bay on April 26, and a final series facing Northwestern at Goodman Diamond will close out UW's home slate.  The Badgers wrap up their regular season on the road at Nebraska on May 6-8.  Badgers Twitter, Badgers Facebook, Coach Healy Twitter, TCRS Twitter, TCRS Facebook,

    James Madison University Softball Preview

    #199: Mickey Dean, Head Coach, James Madison University.  James Madison's 2016 softball schedule, which features 22 games against 14 NCAA teams and five non-conference tournaments prior to the 21-game Colonial Athletic Association slate.  JMU opens the season Feb. 12-14 in Orlando, Fla., at the UCF Knights Invitational. The Dukes will face Fordham in the season opener while also taking on Rutgers twice, as well as NCAA teams Alabama and host UCF. The following weekend, the Dukes return to Florida Feb. 19-21 to compete in the Michele Smith Invitational in Clearwater, where they'll hit the field against Tennessee, DePaul, Fordham, Auburn and Oklahoma State.  JMU opens the home slate Feb. 26-28 when it hosts the JMU Invitational, featuring Binghamton, Toledo, Saint Joseph's and Robert Morris.     NPF Fan Show

    #201: TCRS opens the phones for the fans of National Pro Fastpitch to discuss all aspects of the league.  2015 saw the Chicago Bandits capture the Cowles Cup.  The 2016 NPF College Draft Presented by Bownet, will be held in Nashville at 7pm CT/8pm ET on April 14 and will air on CBS Sports Networks.  The NPF 2016 schedule begins May 31st and concludes on August 14th.     UConn Softball Preview

    #194:  Jen McIntyre, Head Coach, UConn, visits TCRS.  The 2016 campaign will be McIntyre's second with UConn.  The Huskies will take on a 53-game slate that includes 18 American Athletic Conference contests and 13 home match-ups at Burrill Family Field in Storrs.  The Huskies have a tough non-conference slate that features eight games against five different teams that qualified for the 2015 NCAA Tournament and also four contests against teams that finished last season ranked in the USA Today/NFCA Top-25.  UConn will spend the first two months of the 2016 season on the road to participate in six different tournaments, starting at the LSU Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, La. from Feb. 12-14. The following weekend, the Huskies head to Boca Raton, Fla. for the FAU Tournament and will face Florida A&M, Northern Illinois and the tourney’s host.     #193:  Melinda Fischer, Head Coach, Illinois State University, visits TCRS.  ISU opens the season at South Florida and will play the first seven weekends of the year away from Marian Kneer Stadium. Illinois State will play four-plus games at South Florida, Arizona State, LSU, Florida and Louisville. This is the first time in history that ISU will take a full spring break trip when they start at Florida and end in Louisville.  The Redbirds open Missouri Valley Conference play at Missouri State March 19 and will play their home opener March 30 versus DePaul.  For all the traveling ISU will do in the first two months of the season, April is kind to the Redbirds on the travel front.     #197:  Jacquie Joseph, Head Coach, Michigan State.  In 2016, the Spartans will spar with six non-conference teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago: super-regional participant Georgia out of the SEC, and regional teams South Carolina (ACC) Notre Dame (SEC), Florida Atlantic (C-USA), Chattanooga (SoCon), and Arizona State (Pac-12).     Pittsburgh Softball Preview

    #196:  Holly Aprile, Head Coach, University of Pittsburgh.  Pitt will spend more than half of its season on the road, playing 31 of its total 42 games out of state. The remaining 11 matchups will be played at the Petersen Sports Complex and will feature four ACC showdowns.  Pitt’s schedule is highlighted with six opponents from the 2015 NCAA tournament, including five ACC rivals. Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Notre Dame all competed in the opening round of regionals alongside the Panthers, while Florida State and NC State reached the second round before concluding their seasons. In total, a conference-record of seven teams earned NCAA bids last season.  The Panthers kick off their spring season with four consecutive weekend road tournaments, beginning with an outing at Macon, Ga. (Feb. 12-14). Scheduled games for the weekend include matchups against St. Bonaventure, Central Michigan and host Mercer.  The second week of March marks the official start of conference play, which Pitt will begin on the road at Tech Softball Park (March 12-13).
