Grammy Winning Disco Diva Thelma Houston Collaborates With Janitor a young Producer/Musician and release their New EP entitled FORTY TWO.
Original songs aren’t a dime a dozen. It may be hard to recreate such a sound from one of American music’s most famous disco diva icons, Thelma Houston. Add into the mix a 28 year old producer named JANITOR who is deeply embedded in the Los Angeles indie rock scene and you have “fortytwo” - the EP concept and the actual age difference between Houston and JANITOR and an innovative new side-project that challenges the limit of an unlikely collaboration that incorporates both contemporary and vintage sounds.
Houston is well-known to the world of Disco, R&B and Motown. One of her most notable singles during that period was "You've Been Doing Wrong for So Long" which secured her a Grammy nomination for a Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Houston released her third album Any Way You Like It in 1976. The first single released was her version of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes’ 1975 song "Don’t Leave Me This Way”. In February 1977 the track hit Number 1 in the U.S. on the R&B and Club Play Singles charts and in April 1977 on the Hot 100 Charts. "Don't Leave Me This Way" won Houston the Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the Grammys for 1977.
Infusing electronic and R&B and indie pop music, listeners can hear almost every genre in the five-song EP as JANITOR cites his taste in everything from jazz, hip hop to powerpop. Each song is a journey that starts from dark to light – raw, uncensored, thought-provoking lyrics is what JANITOR describes as “Conscious Club” music. They are making music that has a specific idea around it. It’s also the next generation of Thelma’s sound

Nick Vatterott couldn't record a podcast this week because Freelance Janitor Stan Manowski stole the equipment for 'The Nick Vatterott Show' and recorded his own podcast. He and his co-worker borrow the names Pork Dorkleson and Robert Dean from past episodes and record a podcast during their hour long smoke break at recent job. On it, these two wanna-be jokesters exhale discourse consisting of game shows, Mazda Days, Go-Pros, Austrailians, Villain Towns, medieval movies, body impressions, Is Google God, Wikipedia Fund Raising and general machine gun sound effects.

Right out of the gate, with his freshman release in 2000, Special Ed and The Musically
Challenged, Ed Roman defined his paradigm with inventive, infectious tunes that shook one's marrow and stirred the spirit…This guy is unique! Three follow-up releases with SEMC continued to mesmerize and astonish, with music that both kissed and prodded, seduced and challenged, hypnotized and enlightened...
An accomplished musician, Ed performs 90 percent of the instruments on his album, recording drums, bass, guitars, organ, vocals and even sitar! The sound is rounded out with help from some of the top Canadian session musicians like Dave Patel on drums (Sass Jordan) and Mike Freedman on electric guitars (Tia Brazda.) Sit back, get mellow and listen to this truly skillful musician weave a tapestry of enchantment from an eclectic fabric of musical styles.
One can never get too comfortable however, as Ed will undoubtedly prompt the listener to examine their world and stimulate them to make it better! Ed asks us everyone to glimpse the world from his vantage point, offering up his vision and sometimes helping to point out the areas that need tidying. Like the janitor of conscience, he'll frequently show the cobwebs and sweep the dirt from the corners of one’s perspective. The listener is left uplifted, invigorated and enriched by dewy new jewels of insight and permeated by a mosaic of musical mayhem. Funky, ethereal, grungy, luscious, rowdy, serene, provocative, clever, insightful and uniquely exhilarating, Ed Roman's marvelous musings drop dollops of tasteful delight through our ears to our hearts. You can't help but dance. You can't help but smile.
Kenny Pitts worked both behind the scenes and within "The Unusual Calling of Charlie Christmas," created by Outsiders Productions. This story follows a socially awkward high school janitor, bullied and overlooked his whole life, who, still haunted by the loss of his father, finds strength and purpose after receiving mysterious spiritual instruction to become a costumed vigilante in Oklahoma. In the meantime, a tender friendship developing with a neighbor, Gracie, becomes more powerful.
The film has been screened at several festivals, including the Florida Super Con's Super Geek Film Festival where it received accolades for obtaining a full house. For more info., visit www.charliechristmas.com.
