A Story of Medical History: My Mother lived in an Iron Lung

    in Health

This show is the amazing story of Jade Grace, who grew up with a mother who lived in an iron lung.  The iron lung was a tank respirator used to help people artificially breathe used often during the polio epedemic.  It's use was usually only for several weeks until the lungs regained strength.  For some like Jade's mother, it was for a lifetime.  She lived 30 years on the iron lung.  Jade's story is about a child's experience of interacting and loving a mother who was lived in an iron lung.  Many on iron lungs were confined to institutions but Jade's father had the resources to keep her at home with all the necessary care.  She even summered on Catalina Island with the family.  Jade's story is a part of medical history that everyone should hear about.  Her stories are capitvating and heartwarming. Be sure to tune.

Their story is unique because L and Sharron work with children shelters. After watching how these children live, L and Sharron decided that they wanted to give a child all the love they knew they could give, so they decided to adopt. Jeremiah came into their lives and his happy and warm personality stole their hearts and the rest is history. Jeremiah was adopted in 2014 and if you see the pictures posted by the proud parents you know Jeremiah is at home.CWT4R will open the lines during the last half-hour of the show so that you can share your special tribute/remembrance of your mother. Let’s tell the women we call momma/mother whether blood or not how much we love them and what they mean or meant to our lives. Remember some mommas were aunts, grandmothers, and sisters.  Read a letter, say a poem or just say I LOVE YOU.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1088

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Emily Wallace (aka Tina Smith) abuse survivor and motivational speaker, inspirational author and expert seeking high representation for her unforgettable autobiography "Scarred for Life," an inspirational book which illustrates all of the struggles that Emily faced during her childhood. One day in 1980, Emily returned home from her every day learning environment, to find a house filled with nothing but emptiness. Her whole nuclear family (her mother and her siblings) were gone without a forwarding address. This was the same day that Emily endured emotional distrust and experienced her childhood being snatched away from her within moments. Scarred for Life narrates Emily's story, along with her thoughts, feelings, and emotions as she tried to succeed surviving on the streets. She tells of sleeping in vacant houses and under porches and experiencing child molestation by her older two brothers. She shares the stories of those who tried to help her and those who would not. Honest and shocking, Scarred for Life provides insight into the actual life of a little homeless girl and the horrors one can experience when living on the streets. Today, Emily is a mother of six, and wife of 20 years. She is an author and motivational speaker, who speaks to children about child abuse and bullying. She is currently working on her high school diploma at Hadley School for the Blind.
