Autumn, The Play Inspired by the Newark NJ Mayors Cory Booker and Sharp James!
SATURDAY, APRIL 19, 2015 EXCLUSIVE: MNN's "The Gist of Freedom" Interviews of Richard Wesley and cast members! Mr. Wesley an Award-winning Playwright and Screenwriter talks about his new play, "Autumn"!
Richard Wesley, whose hits include "Uptown Saturday Night" and "Let's Do It Again" which starred Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby and "The Mighty Gents" which went to Broadway.
"Autumn," an absorbing new drama by Richard Wesley that probes the fragility of political legacies and human relationships, premieres at Crossroads Theatre Company April 23 through May 3.
"Autumn" is the first full-length stage play, since the premiere of Wesley's acclaimed work, "The Talented Tenth," in 1989, which looked at the lives of a group of Howard University graduates who were part of an emerging Black elite.
“I began thinking that there was a new generation of post-civil rights movement politicians emerging that was very different from the generation that came of age during the civil rights movement,” Wesley said. “There was a group of old-school politicians who found themselves wrapped up in political scandals; and right behind [them] were these younger politicians who were moving up.”
Since 1995, Wesley has been an associate professor of dramatic writing at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he served as chair of the Rita and Burton Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing for eight years. He is a former vice president of the Writers Guild of America, East.
Crossroads Theater Company is located at 7 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick. For tickets, call (732) 545-8100 or purchase online at crossroadstheatrecompany.org.
Tonight we tackle the multifaceted issue of unmanned aerial vehicles, or Drones. They have gained a place in history as one of the most hated, loved, and misunderstood pieces of equiptment our society has ever created. It is important to distinguish what a person is referring to when they talk about drones. This is due to the fact that the term is a blanket reference to pretty much anything that has locomotion, and is either remotely controlled, or runs a predetermined program for it's operation. This means that everything from a small hobbyists $20 RC helicopter to General Atomics multi billion dollar fleet of Predator drones all fall under this banner.
Though we will touch on the topic of smaller 'flying camera' drones, but our main topic tonight will be the larger, CIA and military driven UAVs and their role in the so-called 'War on Terror'.
We have Brandon Bryant as our guest tonight. He knows all too well how these are used and how the operations are carried out. He should, he used to be a drone pilot. He will talk about his experiences with turning targets into 'bug splat', and the consequences, not just to those on the ground, but the scars he now bears daily with the resulting PTSD. Many studies have revealed that the PTSD most drone operators suffer from might be worse than those in hand to hand combat. It is an honor and with much gratitude that we welcome him to the show tonight.
While Brandon is not a leaker of top secret documents, he is definitely a whistleblower in the truest sense of the word. He is calling attention to the hipocrisy and deceit being propagated by the US and it's President, wherein they contend that drone strikes are a precision surgical instrument, equal to excising a cancer while leaving the remaining tissue intact. This is a lie. All males over 13 years of age are not 'militants'. Weddings are not target practice.

November 18, 1978, was a tragically unprecedented day in U.S. history that will forever be woven into the fabric of this country. It is the day that leader of Peoples Temple (PT), James Warren Jones, ordered the assassination of U.S. Congressman Leo J. Ryan and others at the Port Kaituma airstrip in South America, then led his congregation on what Guyana's police chief, Skip Roberts, testified was a "mass suicide." Decades later, however, the depth of this story is still unknown, and many scholars and former members who have continued their exploration of the incidents have found that there is still plenty of evidence as well as plenty of sinister connections that contradict the official version of this story. Jonestown: "Don't Drink the Kool-Aid" is the chronological story of the rise and fall of Peoples Temple and its leader Jim Jones-from his early years in Indianapolis and California, to the tragic ending in the jungle of South America that claimed the lives of 918 Americans. Jonestown: "Don't Drink the Kool-Aid" comprehensively details the many links that Jones and his compound had with the CIA and their MKULTRA experiments. Through a comprehensive analysis of Jones' life, Peoples Temple, and the investigation and the aftermath of the mass murder/suicides; this book is designed to be the quintessential marking piece that will re-introduce this story to society and serve as a reminder of the infamous mantra that hung in the pavilion in Jonestown: "Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it." LOVE IS... One of the most powerful emotions out of all the emotions because it has the ability to bring life to a situation, and it can rearranged the atmosphere at any given time. The calm presence of LOVE brings a roaring sea to a peaceful, gentle positive flowing stream.
1 Corinthians 13:4-13 New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The Title says it all. Why. It makes sense. I come from your place, or very close to it, Even if we are at odds we are closer than others. I am not campaigning for your money, am not a Politician, will be among the best smart Commander-In-Chiefs, even protecting our military men and women. What are your problems or worries. They are many of mine because many of them touch me or have touched me, touched my family and people we know and don’t know. I know an unknown person has no chance to be seen by you. I know that its stupid to do this, and it even looks more stupid. But it’s not that stupid when you consider all the stupid things that are going on right now or that have just happened. Please see me in a better smart light. I say things that you may not like or want to hear. But they are for our own good, I must say them and bring them to light and right. There are some faulty people running for President. I am not one of them. I am one of us, if you can understand that in all its fullness. I know that when you get in the White House, things change. But I will be mind-fast heart-fast soul-fast honest-fast truth-fast. If you are a person I want better for you. If you are an animal I want better for you. If you are the earth I want better for you. The White House belongs to you, not to a Political Party but a person of the people, ordinary if necessary. I am Curtis Clinton, in fact, a better Clinton. If you see it that way, could you and will you put together 120,000,000 Write-In Ballots for a Presidency being for us, with just one of us in there seeing to a better United States and for Americans with blood types of O's, A's and B's. If that many are cast, we will not have a divided country or Congress. One caring willing doing person can start a better world. You can begin with such a President. I am here for you. This is not for me. thanks, bwell, c2it, i am c2 and Curt Clinton
Following a six year dream, SC State University alumnus, James T. DeShay’s, ‘83, latest project has finally come to fruition. DeShay is delighted to announce the launch of his latest poetry book, ‘Thoughts, Love & Reflection’. The book is a beautiful display of poetry in which the true emotional depth of men is showcased. Proving that men are able to convey their deepest feelings without fear of being seen as weak, DeShay’s natural talent for moving his readers is evident within every page. “It is my desire to share my thoughts in a way that will benefit all races and genders. I want to dispel a lot the misnomers related to men,” explains the Orlando, Fla. native. He continues, “Stereotypes are a simple way of placing people inside a box; but sometimes the information belief is inaccurate and destructive. When stereotypes are used exclusively, they service only to deny people the wonderful opportunity to discover uniqueness of humanity.” DeShay sincerely hopes that his book will serve to destroy the ageold stereotype that men cannot share or communicate their deepest thoughts. Each page will also serve as an enriching journey into male thoughts relating to life, joy, love, happiness and reflection. “Readers will be able to free and embrace their own emotions, while taking a journey into the emotions of those around them.
