Join Elizabeth and Katie Live with Jackie Kallen. A show business journalist for a magazine in the 1970s, Kallen interviewed the Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and countless others. In 1977 she was assigned to interview a boxing prospect from the Kronkgym in Detroit, Michigan, Thomas Hearns. Kallen became fascinated with sports and began working as a sports journalist specializing in boxing.
Kallen spent a decade as Hearns' publicist as Hearns went on to famously fight Leonard twice. In the process she became well known around Detroit's boxing circles but met with sexism along the way.
Kallen made her managerial debut with heavyweight Bobby Hitz in 1988. She managed her first champion in 1991, James Toney knocking out Michael Nunn in eleven rounds to win the IBF world Middleweight title. Another Kallen fighter, Bronco McKart, won the WBO world Jr. Middleweight title in 1994.
Her business relationship with Toney was controversial but allowed her to gain celebrity among boxing's hard-core fans. She was featured in Ring and KO Magazine. Kallen referred to Toney many times as someone she loved like a son, but there were rampant rumors that she and Toney did not get along well behind the scenes. The pair had an on and off friendship until their bond was finally broken in the late 1990s.
Kallen was diagnosed both with heart disease and cancer during that decade, but after three surgeries she recovered and is enjoying good health.
Kallen currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and manages three professional boxers, including McKart and a prospect from the Philippines.
She recorded a public service announcement for Deejay Ra's 'Hip-Hop Literacy' campaign encouraging reading books about boxing personalities

Most of us are familiar with the principles of the Law of Attraction and using the power of positive thought to direct and improve our lives. But do we remember to apply it? And if so, how often…maybe once a month? Jackie Lapin, author of Practical Conscious Creation, joins me to share ways to apply Conscious Creation Principles on a daily basis to anchor our practice and speed the manifestation process. She’ll teach us how to charge each day with this powerful form of inspired thought in all actions, decisions, and routines. This interview originally aired on Empower Radio.

Tanenbaum of TSN & Tanenbaum Argo Owners, a couple of days after purchase of the Team was announced declared there will be a NFL Team in Toronto. How does the purchase affect the existing CFL Franchise, for example does this mean the NFL Toronto Team could become the Argonauts? So many questions, so little time. David Knott joins us, the NOT NFL in Toronto Guy. Love his Facebook Group.
In Montreal Michael Sam brushed off a reporter's comparison between himself and Jackie Robinson, who played for a minor-league team in Montreal before breaking the colour barrier in Major League Baseball. "I'm just here to play football," Sam said. "I'm not here to try to do anything historic." He did, though, have a message for Montreal's LGBT community. "If you're afraid of what your family and friends may think ... come to me. I'll be your family." Has winning the Grey Cup become much more difficult for the Home Team now? Are the bombers the home team at the wrong time.
