Miki Vale, Ben Herron and Thomas Holmes discuss the life and legacy of J DILLA. They will also explore how J DILLA influenced music in general.
Miki Vale’s passion and love for music developed from various facets and experiences in her life. She developed into a strong writer because of her love for writing poetry in school. Her older brother Zoltan, a DJ, had a vast record collection and mix tapes that introduced Miki to “golden era” Hip Hop artists as MC Lyte, Special Ed, Gangstarr, Nice & Smooth, and Public Enemy. Drawing from these true school inspirations and imagery from everyday life, Miki Vale creates a unique soundscape in her songwriting: one part Hip Hop, one part old soul, two parts evolved artist and revolutionary MC. Her melodic flow illustrates a mental picture with each line and breathes new life into Hip Hop as we know it.
Ben Herron- born in San Diego to a blue- collar family, I had a challenging but fulfilling childhood rooted in unconditional love. My childhood was full of stories that have been the undercurrent of my writing and social advocacy. This also laid the foundation for my interest in social work and academic prosperity. I always knew and believed that one way I could not only transcend certain negative circumstances was through education. This would also allow me to be apart of the solution in regards to mending some of the issues that plagued my community and the world alike.

James Dewitt Yancey (February 7, 1974 – February 10, 2006),better known by the stage names J Dilla and Jay Dee, was an American Grammy Nominated record producer who emerged from the mid-1990s underground hip hop scene in Detroit, Michigan. According to his obituary at NPR.org, he "was one of the music industry's most influential hip-hop artists, working for big-name acts like De La Soul, Busta Rhymes and Common."
Yancey's career began slowly. He has now become highly regarded, most notably for the production of critically acclaimed albums by Common, Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, and The Pharcyde. He was a member of Slum Village for their acclaimed debut album Fantastic, Vol. 2.
In the early 2000s, Yancey's career as a solo artist began to improve; A solo album Welcome 2 Detroit was followed by a collaborative album with California producer Madlib, Champion Sound, which catalyzed the careers of both artists. Just as his music was becoming increasingly popular, Yancey died in 2006 of the blood disease TTP.
Following his death, the hip hop community became centered upon the music and image of J Dilla. Many of the artists with whom Yancey worked performed or recorded tributes, and a large group of followers voiced their support for the late musician. Yancey's music experienced a rebirth as the producer gained many times more listeners than he had during his life, partly due to media exposure. Though several posthumous albums have been released and others are planned, the massive amounts of unreleased recordings by the producer remain somewhat undetermined. Yancey's estate has also been controverted.

What may be the most notorious and most terrifying poltergeist haunting of recent decades, the Bridgeport poltergeist was seen and heard by thousands of people on one unforgettable day in 1974. William J. Hall was one of the local youngsters who remembers vividly every detail.
Hall grew up to become a magician and a well-known investigator of the paranormal and the unexplained, writing a syndicated column on those subjects for many years in Connecticut newspapers.
Now Hall returns to his past to share never-before reported interviews of the first responders and other witnesses, and previously unrevealed documents and reports in a journalistic new book … The World’s Most Haunted House: The True Story of the Bridgeport Poltergeist on Lindley Street. Yeap! you now can return to 1974 and feel the Lindley Street experience from the inside.
