We knew from polling data that a majority of Americans, 54 percent, favored legalizing the use of marijuana. Now that we’ve begun publishing an editorial series arguing for an end to marijuana prohibition, we know that a majority of Times readers appear to favor legalization, too, and in far greater numbers than the population at large.
We asked readers on the main editorial if they were for legalization, against it or unsure. Forty-one said they were unsure, 206 against and 4043 for. (That’s as of 12:30 p.m. on Monday.) Obviously the comments section doesn’t amount to a scientific poll, but the lopsided reaction indicates that, among Times readers, there’s a virtual consensus: The federal ban on marijuana makes no sense.
Who says you can't build wealth?
Working Americans have the power to build savings and investments.. And it doesn't mean winning lotto.
By freeing up $500 or more each month--by not overpaying taxes, by reducing debt, by rescuing cash in life insurance--individuals and families can get ahead of the game. It's a necessity.
Here's where your money should go.
1. Emergency Fund: This is your reserve fund in the event of an unforeseen emergency, job loss or an unexpected expense.
2. Short-Term Savings: This account is for money that you set aside for expenses like a new computer or perhaps a vacation.
3. Long-Term Savings/Investments: This is where your retirement savings, college fund and other long-range savings will go. Because these savings have more of a long-term time horizon, you can use investment vehicles with potential for a higher rate of return, such as equity mutual funds.
Let's get financially well:

INNERSIGHT - It has been 24 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act has been enacted and we still don't have the freedom to live with full independence.
Although it has been 24 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act has been enacted, we still don't have freedom, equality, total human rights, and total accessibility. The agencies
have not done enough to remedy the situation, even though they have government funding and/or non-profit tax status.

It’s hard to overstate the impact that cardiovascular disease (CVD) has in the U.S.. Consider the following:
Cardiovascular disease affects 65 million Americans.
Close to one million Americans have a heart attack each year.
In the U.S., one person dies every 39 seconds of cardiovascular disease.
1 of 3 deaths that occurs in the U.S. is caused by cardiovascular disease.
1 in 3 Americans have metabolic syndrome, a cluster of major cardiovascular risk factors related to overweight/obesity and insulin resistance.
The total cost of cardiovascular disease in 2008 was estimated at $300 billion.
To put that last statistic in perspective, the World Health Organization has estimated that ending world hunger would cost approximately $195 billion. One might argue that the $300 billion we spend on treating cardiovascular disease in the U.S. is a necessary expenditure; however, a recent study which looked at the relationship between heart disease and lifestyle suggested that 90% of CVD is caused by modifiable diet and lifestyle factors. (1)
Unfortunately, cardiovascular disease is one of the most misdiagnosed and mistreated conditions in medicine. We’ve learned a tremendous amount about what causes heart disease over the past decade, but the medical establishment is still operating on outdated science from 40-50 years ago.
As an American I have experienced the changes in this country that frankly have citizens of all ages disenfranchised about the direction this country is taking politically. The slow agonizing erosion of morals, values and Christian religious freedom should be a priority and a form of disaster control for all Americans. But to do so first the people need to completely understand the years of conservative silence that attributed to this spiritual decay. Years after I served my country with the Army Corp of Engineers, I found myself compelled to write a book pointing out to the reader where and why America went wrong which started most of the deep rooted problems. America should face the Dragon of Liberalism and truly understand what actually politically transpired in the 1960s. These ideas used in this book are spoken from a war veterans point of view as it pertains to the political hoax portrayed on the people that has not been faced, once understood it will light a new way of the future.

Scared of embracing color? Does your home look like 50 shades of greige? Let's talk color with Chris & Roger Hazard.
The soft tones of greys and beiges can be calming and soothing in many places, but when your entire home inside-and-outside is shades of greige, there might be a gigantic opportunity to add a bit of your personality and your laughter-side into some of your spaces.
We're talking with designers Chris Stout-Hazard and Roger Hazard about how to dip our toes in the world of color, and how to build up the courage to make a big leap.
Roger Hazard is internationally known as an innovative designer and the star of the first real estate-related show on U.S. television, Sell This House. Roger introduced Americans to the concept of staging, igniting the real estate industry and paving the way for the dozens of real estate-focused shows currently found on cable channels. A constant collaborator with Roger, Chris Stout-Hazard leads design for their furniture and home decor company, Roger + Chris, acts as the go-to guy for all technical projects, and balances Roger's rustic style with a modern aesthetic.
You can follow Roger and Chris' adventures remodeling their historic home and see their collection of home furnishings at www.rogerandchris.com.
