PWN 2015.3.4: Here we go again

    in News

Figuring out what KaliSara and RevKess are going to talk about each week is a chore. One that they take into consideration frequently while browsing the interwebs and catching up on social media. Some of the topics come from mainstream media, many from Pagan media sources, and quite a few are shared by their friends on Facebook. What they pick to talk about and what actually gets talked about are sometimes two very different things. This week is up in the air, as has been the case recently. They await a major news story or a development in something they have been covering, but they also keep their eyes and ears open for what is important to the Pagans around them and that they know via the net. If you have a story, event, project, etc that you would like to hear them talk about on PWN, please send an email to them at paganmusings@gmail.com or drop them a note on the Facebook for PWN.

Abiding In The Tripartite (Part 2- What God does not need... but wants.)

    in Spirituality

Co-Pastor Annie McKoy, The Greater Faith Holiness Church, Durham N.C.,  joins Dr. Greathouse for Part 2 of God does not need us to need Him, He wants us to want Him.  Dr. Greathouse  believed that a follow-up broadcast was needful because of the revelation received during the initial broadcast.  This episode will focus on how the listening audience should begin the process of developing a sincere and heart driven pursuit of God, rather than a superficial and material driven pursuit.

Abiding In The Tripartite always strives to empower, inspire, uplift, engage, and foster teachings that will help us all grow and mature in our entire three part being!

In 2006, this morbidly obese, drug addicted, depressed man, diagnosed with Hepatitis C, who was estranged from his family,  made a decision to alter his destiny. He is the subject of the independent movie entitled May I Be Frank: A Film About Sex, Drugs and Transformation and the book May I Be Frank:  How I Changed My Ways, Lost 100 Pounds and Found Love Again. Both chronicle his inspiring journey. http://www.mayibefrankmovie.com

B Corp Series: Mike Brady CEO Greyston Bakery: Baking Brownies to Hire People

    in Culture

While baking 30,000 lbs of delicious brownies on a daily basis seems like it should be enough, Greyston Bakery's unique Open Hiring is its hallmark and what it is best known for.

Since its founding in 1982 by Zen Master Bernie Glassman, Greyston, the country’s leading social enterprise, has provided individuals in Southwest Yonkers, NY with employment, skills and resources to lift them out of poverty. Greyston’s unique combination of Open Hiring at the world famous Greyston Bakery and PathMaking services offer a roadmap to assist individuals and families in visualizing and realizing their paths to self-sufficiency. Its spiritually-rooted philosophy fuels community development and a commitment to human growth and potential.

Greyston's open door hiring policy offers employment opportunities regardless of educational attainment, work history, or past social barriers, such as incarceration, homelessness or drug use. Greyston believes that employment is a first step in an individual’s path toward success.

Mike Brady, President and CEO of Greyston Bakery, New York's first Benefit Corporation explains how it all works: anyone that comes to the front door of the bakery is given the chance to work, no questions asked. When a job becomes available the next person on our waiting list is given a job. Greyston provides them with resources, personal development tools and training in professional skills to give them the greatest chance for success in their new job.

The Voice of Leadership is proud to launch this B Corp Series: For People, Planet and Profit, and even more proud to give the first spot in this ongoing series to one of it's favorite brownies, er, organizations ... Greyston Bakery.

    in Entrepreneur

Patrice Johnson is the owner/principal of Virtual Illustrations, a design consultancy located in Charlotte NC. For the last 14 years, Patrice has used the power of design to develop inspiring creations for clients ranging from small start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. The company specializes in logo development and publication design; but also offers branding, e-marketing, advertising, print collateral, simple website design...and virtually anything else creative that you can think of.

Patrice always had an eye for all things creative - whether it be plating a dish, decorating a home or graphic design. She worked at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 13 years and initially began doing graphic design as an extension of her work there - producing marketing materials for training sessions, etc. She was soon approached by a co-worker who suggested she consider doing graphic design as a business. After giving it some thought, Patrice gave it a try on a part time basis. Later, she went on to open the business full time, after leaving the school system as a process manager in the Superintendent's office in 2005.
