Modesty As A Form of Inner Strength

    in Spirituality

Did you know that it is possible to be ‘lifted up’ by modesty?  There is a universal law that says we are to empty what is full and fill what is modest. As the sun rises and sets, the moon waxes and wanes, and the ocean tides go in and out, we are governed by the same fate. Tune in this week as Jo Ann Brown and I discuss how maximizing our potential is best realized with modesty. This is achieved by contributing our wisdom to those less awake. Tonight we talk about how we have the power to shape our fate in the face of benevolent and destructive forces. But, only a few seem to arrive at that reality. It is modesty that shines with the light of wisdom. The challenge: reduce what is too much and augment that which is too little. Wisdom dictates that we weigh things out to make them equal.

Relying on our Inner Strength to Shake Fear and Learn From our Past

    in Self Help

September 25, 2014 - LIVING A RICHER LIFE ~ Life Changing Talk Radio

THEME: Relying on our Inner Strength to Shake Fear and Learn from our Past

Toni Eubanks has a long-standing interest in how ethnic groups have shaped American history. Combined with her research on the coming of age experiences of young Americans throughout history, she has developed a juvenile historical fiction series, titled Passage to Womanhood.  Her research has included the American West of the 1880’s, the Gullah culture of South Carolina, and African American roots in Ghana and Nova Scotia. Ms. Eubanks currently teaches in the Maricopa Community College system in Arizona, and is working on book two of her series.

Even after we let go, the past is still part of who we are.  Every one of us live in the present and makes choices based on some part of the past.  This fact is simply unavoidable. All forms of learning rely on our ability to continually reference the past.  Yet, in many cases, our past experiences can also cause fear, a lack of trust in ourselves and can be immobilizing. However, through our inner strength we can gain the ability to let go of the fear and to do what must be done to improve our future. But, how can we consistently rely on our inner strength to let go of our fear and learn from our past.

    in Lifestyle

    1:00-3:00PM Pacific, (2-4pm Mountain; 3-5pm Central,4-6pm Eastern)

As we press on through modern times and our lives are made easier via various conveniences, it’s easy for us to lose touch with our most basic and primal roots.  Mankind didn’t always live in tract housing or high-density apartment buildings, but instead once slept on the ground and survived off of the land.  Despite the lack of a need for these skills in our current state, there may be a time when they can come in handy again.

This week on OneCellOneLight Radio, Dr. Hildy welcomes survivalist Christopher Nyerges, owner of The School of Self-Reliance and author of ten books to discuss his work of 40 years. The School of Self-Reliance arose from Christopher and Dolores Nyerges’ dream to live and to teach practical skills to mostly urban folks who’ve lost touch with our most basic roots.  Since 1974, Christopher has taken over 30,000 children and adults on his Wild Food Outings, Survival Skills Outings, and other field trips and outdoor programs. He has worked with groups such as Sierra Club, Tree People, Southwest Museum, and the Boy Scouts of America.

Author of 10 books, including Self-Sufficient Home: How to Go Green and Save Money, How to Survive Anywhere, Enter the Forest, and Guide to Wild Foods, he was the editor of Wilderness Way magazine for 7 years, and has authored several thousand newspaper and.....   MORE>>
